________
CH. 37(Narrator)
After the last of the Cullen's and Denali's had hunted out in the woods, everyone reconvened at the Cullen house.
Everyone patiently waited, no one wanted to speak a word in fear that they would ruin this perfect calm.
The only sounds that could be heard were the soft snores and heavy breathing of the younger generation asleep on the floor in the living room.
The heartbeats of the Lycans beat fiercely like a drum of war.
Alice received another vision.
"They're here" she said breathlessly "same as last time, only no audience." She announced.
Everyone's eyes seemed to now gravitate to Carlisle.
Their unspoken leader.
"I think we should send the kids away as soon as they wake." Carlisle said calmly.
Alice instantly began to panic.
She knew the kids and Jacob HAD to be there in order for her vision to come to fruition.
She also knew she couldn't say anything, if she said the kids had to be there then suspicion would arise and she would have to tell them about her vision.
And She doubted they would try and find a way for her to stay alive, resetting the vision and possibly resulting in a loss.
Who would die in her place?
Alice Cullen had only ever had two visions involving herself in her entire existence.
Once when she saw herself waiting for Jasper to find her. And the other was she and Jasper living happily amongst the Cullens.
Both of which she did everything in her power to follow the path that would make the outcomes of the visions come true.
Alice remembered where she was, she saw Edward looking at her weird.
She knew he was trying to listen in on her thoughts.
Alice immediately drew up her walls around her mind, a handy little trick Cole had taught them all.
Edward growled angrily and now all eyes were on him.
"What's wrong Edward." Bella asked concerned.
"Alice is blocking me from her mind." Edward said.
"Serves you right, you shouldn't be digging into people's head all the time." Emmett said.
"Well given the situation you can't exactly blame me for wanting to stay connected to Alice's visions." Edward countered. "Now tell us Alice, what were you thinking about?"
Jasper didn't like his wife being scrutinized by Edward and it only worsened when Jasper felt his wife's shyness burst through him.
"If you must know Edward. I was thinking about mine and Jasper's last honeymoon." Alice said making sure to send a very detailed vision of her and Jasper in the most intimate of ways. "You know, since we may not survive to see another one." Alice finished sadly.
Edward looked like someone had slapped him.
Emmett shook his head, Jasper put a reassuring arm around his wife and Bella was scolding Edward about people's privacy.
Hours later the children woke up, and just as Carlisle suggested Katrina had teleported her brothers, Ness, and Jake all to La Push Washington.
Soon after the Cullen's and their allies found themselves walking to the open field Alice had seen in her vision.
The sun was setting quickly and the nerves in everyone started to build up.
It seemed that only Emmett and Jasper were the only two who were giddy with excitement.
There was a sudden breeze that made the trees sway roughly.
The overwhelming scent of new vampires in the woods made them all grow anxious at what was to come.
"They've arrived." Alice informed the rest.
Every one got into fighting stances.
Lovers embraced on final time, for it could be their last.
Silent 'I love yous' were exchanged with looks and the Volturi glided easily through the trees.
Black and grey robes billowed against the new night's air.
It seemed like time had stood still. There was no sound except for the beating hearts of the lycans.
There was no movement except for the articles of clothing and hair.
Then a loud crackling and violent growls ripped through the air.
The Volturi guard took a few steps back as the "humans" fell to the ground.
Cole and his siblings lay crumpled on the ground writhing in pain.
Human screams pierced the night before melding into the howl of the animal within them.
Every bone in their body morphed into something different. It was sinister and painful. Their bones were longer, and their muscles were stronger, their nerves were stretched to the max giving them the ability to run faster and jump higher.
It was Caius who growled and ran straight towards one of the Lycans.
That's what started the war.
The Lycans reacted upon instinct. They saw a vampire wearing a long cloaked robe attack one of their own, so they instantly attacked the other vampires with long dark robes.
Elle was shocked to witness all of the vicious bloodshed.
She also saw the blonde girl that Emmett had told her killed her parents.
Jane.
Jane had a few bodies on the floor crying out as she tortured them with her gift, a malicious sneer of glee on her face.
Elle ran up to her and tackled the little blonde down.
Jane got up hissing her burgundy eyes practically glowing with rage, no one had ever dared to touch her.
Forgetting about the pathetic pile of vampires Jane was just working on, she instantly put all of her attention onto the red head.
Furious Jane conjured up as much energy as she had left in her and let it fill up the strength of her attack.
Then she released it full force onto the redhead who had stupidly interfered.
Elle felt as the attack tried to penetrate her walls and in a flash, sent them back with gusto.
The petite blonde crashed to the ground and screamed out horrificically. Elle acted quick and did the one thing that Jasper had said would fully kill a vampire.
She made quick work as she dismembered the body. The sound of metal being ripped peeled through the rest of the chaos as each limb was removed from the body.
One of Jane's victims was Garrett, he helped Elle by starting a fire and adding Jane's body parts to it.
Purple smoke and a thick sickly sweet aroma of a vampires death littered the battle field now.
Alice flitted around trying to find the thick of the danger. Only there didn't seem to be any.
The fight, for once, was actually neck and neck.
She found Emmett, "why don't you go and find Elle and make sure she's alright, I'll take care of this." She nodded her head in the direction of Felix as he was shaking off a heavy blow Emmett had just delivered to the right side of his face.
Emmett laughed deeply.
"My wife can handle herself better than most. And there's no way I'm giving this fucker up. I've waited too long to beat the shit out of this asshole." Emmett said as he tried to evade Felix's heavy punches.
Alice sighed and found Edward, soon she was trying the same tactics on him.
Edward on the other hand bought it, but it was no use. Because as soon as Edward left Alice with one of the Volturi's many nameless guards, Jasper showed up to help his wife.
"Stay by my side Allie!" Jasper commanded firm yet lovingly as he used his nickname for her.
Then Alice was struck with a sense of déjà vu.
Suddenly Jake appeared with Katrina on his back.
"What's he doing here?" Jasper asked panicked and worried.
Alice began stepping towards her Niece and the russet Wolf.
Alice watched on in horror as Jasper held tightly onto her hand. Caius had begun to make his way toward Jacob.
Caius knew there was no way he could kill an actual werewolf so he would have to take the mutt of a shifter instead.
His sight was set on the overly large reddish brown wolf, he was letting his instincts guide him, and maybe that's why he didn't see a lycan charging at him.
Caius saw the lycan just in time to react.
He stretched out his arms going for the easy kill, just a snap of the neck and he would get this beast out of the way so he could go back to the wolf with the child.
But in times of war, it's never JUST that easy.
The lycan opened and closed its wide mouth with a snap and tore off the vile vampires arms in one swift motion.
Caius was experiencing pain like nothing he had ever felt, not even when he was turned did it feel this bad.
He laid on the ground as two other Lycans came along and SLOWLY killed him.
"What the fuck are you doing here?!" Emmett screamed wildly at Jacob.
The large wolf hung his head.
Emmett reached up and grabbed his daughter.
Her eyes were wide an filled with tears and fear. Her small frame shook violently and her heart was beating faster than normal as she couldn't tear her eyes away from the beastly creatures as they all too willingly tore a vampire to shreds.
"Princess?" Emmett called as he tried to get his daughters attention.
"Princess it's Daddy. Katrina baby look at Daddy." He pleaded.
Nothing, she was frozen with fear.
"I'll kill you Jacob Black!" Emmett screamed as he held his daughters frightened and stiff body against his chest.
"I swear to whoever is up there listening, if my daughter isn't fine I will fucking kill you, you stupid fucking idiot!" Emmett screamed.
Emmett turned around and sprinted back toward the rest of the Cullen's.
Elle saw her husband running toward Carlisle, something held against his chest.
Then Elle saw long reddish brown curls whip in the wind and a small pale hand flapping as Emmett ran.
Her ears rang with fear. There's no way, this couldn't be her daughter, Jacob and the children all left before the fight.
So why was her heart telling her otherwise?
Alice fell to the ground as she watched her brother clutch his daughter to his chest.
If anything happened to her niece she would never forgive herself.
This is why she was suppose to die, so her niece wouldn't be going through this.
The fight was over, there were no casualties on the Cullen side and the entire Volturi guard had been defeated.
The Lycans disappeared into the woods. They had helped their friends but at any moment they could lose control and turn on their friends. They didn't want to chance that.
Carlisle took his granddaughter from Emmett and tried to assess her as thoroughly as possible.
"I have to get her back to the house, I need my medical bag." Carlisle said.
Elle made it to her husband's side just as Carlisle finished his sentence.
Not Katrina, please let her be safe. What was she doing here in the first place? Elle thought to herself
