CH. 30
CH. 30 (Elle)
All around me was darkness.
I could hear everything going on around me and I wanted so bad to open my eyes.
I had been told what to expect as I turned from human to vampire and so far all I could feel was an annoying tingling, like that sensation you get when your limbs fall asleep.
Also instead of a severe burning I felt uncomfortably hot, like my bare body was Laying next to a fire place.
I knew Carlisle and Emmett were worrying whether the medicine was working, and as much as I wanted to ease their worries, for some reason Edward couldn't read my mind.
What was even more curious is that he said "as usual," I didn't realize he had trouble hearing me.
I laid completely still as I heard Emmett laugh slightly then all of a sudden it got quiet.
"What's wrong son?" Carlisle asked worried
Then the sound of the door flying open echoed through the room.
"It's Rosalie!" Alice's beautiful voice trembled with anxiousness.
I was scared and worried and wanted to get up and take care of the problem of Rosalie once and for all.
I laid like a stone silently fuming as Edward spoke angrily.
It seemed like an eternity before anything happened after that.
Edward said something so fast that I couldn't make out his words.
I felt a jolt of heat flame over my forehead, I can only assume Emmett had kissed me there.
The turning process was getting a little worse, every time I was touched that part of the body would begin to burn, but the second i wasn't in contact with anyone my body would go back to that same annoying tingle.
Silence filled the room, so much so that I couldn't tell if anyone was even in the room with me.
I could sense that Emmett was gone, I'm not sure how, but I just knew.
I finally felt like Emmett was back In The room, I got my confirmation in the form of a burning hand and a scortching cheek.
Emmett held my hand and I tried to focus on anything other than the growing flame.
I felt like my hand was blistering and I wanted to scream but was bound by my paralyzed body.
"She left, peacefully. I don't think she will be coming back threatening us anymore." Emmett's strong voice rang out into the echoing room.
Someone sighed and another person shifted their weight.
I began to wonder how it was that I was hearing someone shift their weight from one foot to another.
"Not much longer now" Jasper drawled "her heart's slowing."
As he said the words I felt my breathing become labored and more of a work out.
This went on for what seemed like hours.
Then my body burst into an agonizing burn, and I felt like I was drowning.
I wanted to rip my skin off and scream bloody murder.
A shrill sound pierced the now warm room and gasps where let out.
And then It stopped.
Everything stopped.
I both felt and heard as my heart took its last beat.
And then I died.
- - -
I slowly came to, cracking my eyes open and clearing my throat.
God my throat was dry.
I slowly sat up and saw my new family looking at me anxiously.
I didn't really feel anything, but all of a sudden I felt a wave of calm try to wash over me.
Only, I didn't feel I needed to be calmed down as I was doing nothing but sitting on the bed, so I pushed it away.
There was a low growl and I turned my head to see a frustrated Jasper.
I looked at him questioningly, I suddenly remembered he had the ability to feel and manipulate others emotions.
It was him who was trying to calm me.
"Sorry Jasper" I said.
My hand flew to my throat as I was startled by the sound of my voice.
It was a little higher and silkier, sing-songy, yet classic somehow. It reminded me of chimes on a cool spring day.
I felt something heavy and warm touch my hand.
My head snapped in the direction and I saw that it was a hand holding my hand.
I looked up and saw that it was Emmett.
I gasped in shock.
The Emmett I fell in Love with was gorgeous but the man standing before me was ethereal.
He helped me stand up and he smiled at me with his huge dimpled smile as I got my balance.
I felt like a baby deer.
I was shaky and everything was new and interesting.
Emmett pulled me into hug and kissed me on the forehead.
I laid my head on his chest, enjoying how his body felt against mine. Still as muscular as ever, he didn't feel like stone anymore, he also wasn't cold...now he was warm and soft, I loved it.
"Let's go and drink and then we'll see the babies." He said happily.
I nodded, remembering all that we had talked about Pre-immortality.
Carlisle had explained I would need to drink otherwise I would run the risk of trying to attack the boys.
I followed Emmett smiling and acknowledging everyone else as I passed them.
I had asked not to see myself.
Much to Alice and Kate's dismay, I didn't want to see my reflection as a newborn and then forever have the image of a red eyed monster emblazoned in my memory.
So, all the mirrors were either taken down or covered up.
I would see myself for the first time in about a month, by then Carlisle assured me, that if I stayed on a diet of animal blood, my eyes would be an orangey color, and that's much better than the evil crimson of a murderous newborn.
Emmett raced me to the woods and I followed him, remarkably keeping up with him.
We stopped when Emmett found a very large black bear.
I watched as he stalked the creature, the beasts heartbeat made my throat prickle with an insatiable thirst.
The thump thumping of the fat heart was mouth watering, only my mouth wasn't filling with saliva, no this substance was thicker and had a very subtle bitter tart taste, almost like licking a lemon rind.
Emmett moved so quickly, had I still been a human I would have missed it.
He tackle the massive bear and snapped its neck.
"Come on Elle." He called out looking at me.
I started walking over to him.
After he talked me through it I experienced my first feeding.
"Can I try doing it by myself?" I asked licking the remnants from the corners of my mouth.
Emmett looked unsure but he ultimately agreed.
A white wolf came into view about thirty yards from where we stood, I began to make my way towards it when Emmett put a hand on my shoulder.
He shook his head no, "we don't drink from wolves as a sign of respect for our shape shifting friends like Jake." He explained.
The wolf no sooner ran off up a small mountain.
Just then a medium sized cat trotted down the same mountain the wolf had just made its way up.
"How about that thing?" I asked unsure.
Emmett chuckled lightly, "that is a Lynx babe, it's a speedy little thing and its scratch is annoying but not deadly."
I tried my best To mimic what I had just seen Emmett do only minutes ago.
I was successful, only the lynx swatted at my thigh and took me off guard.
Had I been human I would have had deep gashes. But as Emmett said the scratch did no harm, just agitated me.
I growled out my frustrations and leaped onto the cats back and my mouth instinctively latched into its throat.
I found the jugular easily and I drank my fill.
Emmett found another large animal and drank himself, since he hasn't had a drink for three days.
After he finished I was a bundle of giddy excitement.
"I want to go see the boys!" I nearly shouted while I bounced up and down like an anxious child on Christmas morning.
He smiled lovingly at me and nodded his head yes.
I squealed in delight and ran up to him to hug him, only I knocked him over and we both found ourselves on the ground.
We started rolling with laughter and Emmett kissed my lips.
I couldn't believe how amazing his kiss felt now, it was soft and sensually warm.
I let our kiss deepen and like always, I began to grip Emmett's shoulder.
Only this time he stopped kissing me. Instead of his usual groan of pleasure, he was now groaning in pain.
"Ow ow ouch." He cried out.
I let go quickly and sat up.
"Oh baby I'm so so sorry." I said in a panic, i forgot they said that I would be strong, but never did I imagine I would be able to hurt the strongest known vampire. "Are you ok baby?" I asked worried.
He rubbed his shoulder an looked a little embarrassed. "Yeah, just a little sore, but nothing too bad." He said.
I kissed his cheek gingerly.
"Babe, do you mind if we kept this little incident between us." He asked with his smirk I loved so much.
"Now how could I say no to my husband." I cooed making his eyes flare with lust and once more we found ourselves rolling around on the snow, only this time I remained gentle and didn't tighten my grip.
A few minutes later Emmett and I walked into the house and went upstairs to have a super quick shower and get into fresh clothes.
"Hurry up baby." I whined as I violently ran a brush through my hair.
Finally Emmett grabbed my hand and we exited the room.
We walked into the sitting room.
No one was in there.
Just then Bella walked out of a bedroom and hugged me.
I could smell a faint sweet smell lingering on her clothes and hair.
I knew it would be from my boys and my insides did flips of happiness.
She walked out the back door and I watched as Edward walked out of their house and greeted her eagerly.
Emmett turned to me and held my face in his big hands.
"I know that you will NOT harm our babies, they love you as much as you love them, and once you see them your love for them will grow even stronger." He said looking me straight in the eyes. "Are you ready?" He asked seriously.
I nodded and he stood up. I grabbed his arm and he looked back at me.
"Don't let me hurt them." I said, my voice quivering with nervousness.
"You won't." He said smiling at me.
He walked into the room Bella had just walked out of and not even a minute later he came out carrying two babies.
One in a deep navy blue jumper and the other in the same outfit but a dark emerald green.
"This is Killian Edward McCarty Cullen." He said with a smile as he handed me the baby wearing green.
"And this is Kellan Jasper McCarty Cullen." He added, handing me the baby clad in blue.
I looked into the precious faces of the babies, my babies, my sons.
Killian had the most vivid Green eyes (like my father had) and he had a mess of reddish blonde curls.
Kellen on the other hand had the most beautiful Cerulean Blue eyes and the same reddish blonde mane.
"See not so bad." He sounded happily.
I nodded before I kissed my boys on their little foreheads and snuggled them against my cheeks.
They were the most perfect babies in the world.
They were exactly identical with the exception of their eye color.
"These guys need a nap." Emmett said, and as much as I didn't want to give them back yet I knew I would get them later.
I watched from the sofa as my husband and sons disappeared into the room.
I sat back in my seat and marveled at how wonderful my life was, nothing could make this day any better, it was perfect.
That is, until my husband returned.
I stared in awe as he smiled down at the cuddly pink bundle in his arms.
It can't be, I thought to myself.
"And this little beauty is our daughter Katrina Elise McCarty Cullen. Our unexpected little surprise."
I took the silk and lace draped baby and just stared at this remarkable little girl.
She reminded me of the most gorgeous baby doll.
She was sleeping, her long dark lashes brushed against her perfectly pinked cheeks.
She had the same curly hair as the boys but her hair was in longer waves of reddish brown and brushed perfectly out of her eyes and pinned back with a bow.
I let my finger lightly traced her plush cheek and I kissed her plump little lips.
When I adjusted her in my arms she yawned holding out her cute little balled fists, and then her eyes opened.
I gasped in shock, Her eyes were outstanding.
They have dark blue rims and then bright carribean blue-green with olive-green flecks in the center.
They are turquoise.
I looked up at Emmett, he smiled at me knowing what I was thinking "Carlisle says turquoise eyes aren't as unique as you might think, and given the lighting they may appear more blue or more green, but nothing that she will be outcasted for."
I smiled at him and then down at my daughter.
"Hello Katrina, I'm your Mommy."
She smiled up at me with a toothy little smile and just like Emmett said.
My love for her grew instantly.
Now my life was perfect.
