CH. 18 (Elle)

In the weeks that passed since Alice's vision of The infamous Rosalie had everyone was on edge.

None of us were sure when she would show up.

How long would she stay?

But most importantly, why was she coming.

Edward was paranoid the volturi sent her to try and "acquire more gifts for the Volturi guard."

Carlisle agreed that the reasoning was plausible.

I on the other hand know in my heart it's to get Emmett back.

I think I would feel a little more at ease if Alice would just tell me the future she's seen for me.

"I just don't want to ask Emmett." I said, venting to Kate. "I should just believe and trust him when he says he loves me and wants only me. But you've seen Rosalie, how can I compare to her?"

Kate had an angry glint in her eyes.

"Dammit Elle, Emmett does love you. And no, there is no comparing you and Rosalie. She is a cold heartless creature who hurt him and turned her back on her family." She said practically yelling.

Then her face and tone of voice softened.

"Elle doll. Trust." She said. "Just trust him, he's never given you any reason not to trust him. He loves you, we all love you and this whole Rosalie thing will come and go and then we'll all go on with our lives."

"But-"

"No buts" she cut me off. "Don't be the reason your relationship fails, Emmett is a very patient man but even he has his limits."

That's what did it for me.

She was right, if I continued to worry over something that I could potentially be making up in my head, I could possibly destroy things between Emmett and I.

"I'm sorry." I apologized to her. "I just really love him and I'm scared to lose him."

"You wont, not without a fight. Hell I'll fight both of them for you if that we're to happen."

We laughed.

"Or you could just turn me into a vampire and then I could fight them myself." I said jokingly.

Kate stopped laughing and looked at me.

"Are you serious?" She asked in almost a whisper.

"Huh?"

"Well have you thought about turning?"

"No I haven't." I said shocked, I can't believe I haven't thought of this sooner.

Do I want to be a vampire?

Yes.

If it meant I get to stay with Emmett forever, then yes.

"Would you want to, you know, become like us." She asked nervously.

"We'll I DO plan on staying with Emmett for as long as I can." I admited with a huge smile on my face. "I can see us getting married, and spending eternity with each other. Sure we can't have kids but we can always adopt so to speak. I love him, he is my life now, so yes I hope that one day I will be turned."

"What about your parents?" She asked sadly.

"Well, I know my stepmom has always wanted to go back to Ireland. They planned on going and staying for a while once I went off to college."

"Elle doll, it isn't that simple." She explained "are you fully prepared to live without them, never speak to them again, never see them again." She asked worried.

No one ever wants to imagine a life without their parents.

This made things more difficult, but as morbid and twisted as it might be, I still wanted to be a vampire, I can't imagine any other way for my life to be now.

"I will deal, some how. But I know that turning and being with Emmett IS my future."

She gave me a sad smile and pulled me into a hug.

"I wish your vampire life could be like Bella's, she still gets to see her father, granted she's breaking the ONLY rule we vampires have but she does it regardless, with no intention of ever turning him." She said bitterly.

"I take it your not big on rule breaking?" I wondered aloud.

"Every since our maker was killed Tanya and I have walked a very straight line, it's still tough for Tanya knowing you're a human who now knows our secret. But once she finds out you want to become one of us she will open up more." She confessed.

I just nodded as I didn't know what else to do.

Kate left because I had to get ready to go to work.

Yep I am still work at dads place. He's having trouble getting anyone to fill my position. So I stayed on, told him not to worry about it.

Cole and I had become really good friends. And for the first time we actually planned on hanging out outside of work.

"Hey Ellie, don't forget about my party this Friday." He said as we were clocking out.

"Oh hey, do you mind if I bring my boyfriend?" I asked feeling awkward.

"No, that's fine. The more the merrier. If it makes you feel more comfortable you can invite his siblings too." He said offering me his amazingly charming smile.

"Thanks Cole." I said as I got into my car then I drove over to the Cullen's.

"Are you sure he said all of us?" Emmett asked unsure.

"Yeah, Cole's sweet and super friendly. Don't worry we don't even have to stay that long if you don't feel comfortable." I offered.

Emmett kissed my nose and then agreed and yelled to the house that we were all going to a party.

Of course Alice had me help her pick outfits for the party.

(Two days later)

"Are you sure you can't come?" I asked Bella.

"No but it's ok, I don't really want Renesme going but I don't want Jake to be couped up here so all of you go and have fun." She said as she pushed us out of the door.

We all piled into Emmett's Avalanche and took off

"How did I get stuck in the middle?" Jake grumbled unhappily.

"Well you could always sit on Edwards lap." Alice teased from ontop of Jasper's lap.

Jake growled and made us all laugh.

"Aww Jacob, I'll sit in the middle on the way home." I offered.

He gave me a cheesy grin and kissed my cheek noisily.

"Quit slobbering on my girlfriend, you're leavin your stench on her." Emmett said looking at Jacob through the mirror.

I giggled and then Alice turned the topic to tomorrow nights dance.

A few minutes later we found the place Cole had given me the address to.

There were cars all down the block.

"No wonder he didn't mind if you invited a few people." Jasper said.

I nodded.

Emmett grabbed my hand and we made our way through the crowd inside.

I finally found Cole hanging out and talking to a lot of different people as they passed him.

"Hey you made it" he said coming up to hug me.

Then he introduced himself to the Cullen's and then I introduced each one to him.

"Cole this is my boyfriend Emmett." I said and Emmett held out his hand to Cole with a smile on his face, Cole shook Emmett's hand but pulled his hand back almost immediately.

Cole looked at his hand and then back to Emmett as if he had burned him or something.

Emmett put himself somewhat in front of me and then Jasper and Edward were on his side.

"What are you?" Cole asked.

I stiffened, how could Cole tell the Cullen's weren't human when no one else can?

"I could ask you the same thing." Emmett said defensively.

Wait what?

"He's a werewolf." Edward answered my unspoken question.

WHAT THE HECK?!

"Basement now!" Cole practically growled, looking around to make sure No one had heard us. "It seems we have some stuff to talk about."

Emmett grabbed my hand and we all followed Cole to his basement.

"We can talk freely in here, this basement is soundproofed, for when I have to phase." Cole said flatly.

"So I'm guessing by your cold pale skin that you can't be anything but vampires." He said.

"Yes. It's true, we are vampires." Edward spoke, seeming to take the role of leader whenever Carlisle isn't around. "And you're an actual werewolf, a creature of the moon?"

"We prefer the term lycanthrope, but essentially yes." Cole stated.

"Are you alone?" Edward asked.

"Here in town there are two of us. But I have two other siblings through a creator. When he died we were freed. He taught us, how not to be monsters. How even though we are cursed and must phase with the moon, we don't have to kill."

"But your siblings are coming?" Edward answered and unspoken thought of Cole's.

"Yes, as I've said we do not kill, we live a very 'alternative' lifestyle from most Lycans. So I can assure you, you will have no trouble from us." He said.

"We also live as you say an 'alternative lifestyle,' we feed on animals instead of humans so you can stop worrying about Elle. She will ONLY be turned upon her own request. I promise you that." Edward said.

Cole looked at me and I gave him a weak smile.

"How come you didn't tell me your boyfriend is a vamp?" He asked.

"It's kind of a secret, not to mention I only just found out a few weeks ago." I admitted. "What about you, why didn't you say anything about being a lycan?" I asked.

He shrugged his shoulders an answered. "I didn't want to freak you out, you're the first real friend I've had in years and I didn't want to ruin that by scaring you off." He admitted.

I smiled a real smile at him and he did the same.

"I'm surprised you all are taking my...condition, so well." Cole said with a slight laugh.

Edward chuckled "well our friend Jacob here is a shifter, his family line has shifted for generations into a wolf." Edward responded.

Cole nodded "that's cool." He said.

We all relaxed but I could tell Jacob didn't like Cole or maybe he's afraid of him or something.

After we all talked, we had to go and tell Carlisle.

Edward drove, Jacob sat passenger, and Alice and I sat on Jasper and Emmett's laps.

When we returned a family meeting was called (this included the Denali's) and Edward dove right into telling him about Cole.

"Remarkable." Carlisle said. "And we never once picked up on his scent. It's astonishing that Jacob and the rest of the Quileute shifters have such a strong scent but he doesn't."

"Also, he doesn't effect my visions like the Quileutes do." Alice put in

"I think I might have a theory." Edward said.

"Maybe the Quileutes effect us more because they're as Alice once said 'halfbreed', they are both Man and Animal all day everyday. But with Cole and possibly other Lycanthropes, they are Man all day everyday except for once a month when they have to phase." Edward finished his epiphany.

Carlisle wrote as Edward spoke and agreed, it seemed logical.

"Elle sweetheart, do you think your friend Cole would come and speak with us sometime?" Carlisle asked.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mind, I'll just have to ask him, but we should probably wait for another night, this is a lot to absorb for all of us, Him included ." I replied.

"Yes, of course." Carlisle said with a soft smile.

"Isn't it funny how similar Elle and Bella's stories are." Esme said.

"How so?" Bella asked.

Esme smiled and answered "human girl, falls in love with a vampire, best friend is a wolf."

"Yes but Elle is in love with a bigger,stronger, vampire and her best friend is an actual Werewolf, not some mutt. No offense." Tanya said smiling.

Jacob growled and Bella looked angry.

"It isn't a competition." Edward hissed.

"I'm just pointing out the facts." Tanya remarked carelessly.

I felt like there was some underlying animosity there and I didn't want any part of it.

"Tanya, Edward that is enough." Carlisle said and they both left the room.

"Awkward." Kate sang trying to ease the remaining tension.

"Come on babe you need some sleep." Emmett said standing us both up.

"You too Renesme." Bella said.

We told Everyone good night and disappeared upstairs.

The next day when I woke up,everyone seemed to be in better spirits.

Emmett took me out for breakfast and dropped me off at home.

Then Alice, Kate, and Bella all came over to my place to get ready.

Alice did all the hair and Kate did the makeup while I did the fingers and toes.

A couple of hours later, we were all helping each other into our gowns.

Bella was in a deep navy blue simple yet chic floor length gown, it had thin straps and a tight sweetheart neckline but the rest was loose and flowy.

Kate being ever the adventurer, had a flaming red orange flamenco style dress with cap sleeves.

Alice had a copper colored wrap dress that had a flowy A-semetrical hem the dress gave her the cute apperance of a woodland nymph or a forest fairy.

And lastly my gown was a snug form fitting deep burgundy color with a champagne sash around the middle.

The boys showed up while we were finishing up.

We walked down stairs and every guy was in a tux and had wrist corsages for us.

Esme came over and she And Cat were snapping tons of pictures.

We finally got outside but both Cat and Esme insisted on one last picture, the cliché group shot in front of the limo.

"I love you Babe." Emmett whispered and kissed my hair.

"Oh shoot, one more! Last one I promise." Cat said.

"Why, that last one was perfect." Esme said.

"It was, but I got a passerby in the background of mine see." Cat explained holding the camera for Esme to see.

Esme took the camera and looked for the flaw.

Esme's eyes went wide with sadness and fear.

"Rosalie." Edward gasped.

Everyone became frantic.

For Cats sake we all tried to remain calm. We got into the limo and put on the facade of going to the dance.

We asked the driver to take us back the Cullen's and paid the driver for the night.

We all got out of the limo prepared for the unknown.
