CH. 11 (Emmett)

As i stood there and watched Red's car drive away from the school i wanted nothing more than to leave with her, but I knew she had to go to work so I proceeded with my day.

Later on after i gave my siblings a ride home I found myself once again laying in the big bed that Red and i had shared just the night before.

I struggled with myself to just stay put instead of going out and looking for her like a stalker. I knew she was probably at work, or something and knowing that at all times she was either with us or her family was a comfort to my mind.

I heard the faint footsteps coming up to my room and then my room door being opened.

"Hey Uncle Em."

I looked up and saw my beautiful niece smiling at me. She walked over and laid in the bed with me. Her little body was a higher temperature than Red's, i've never noticed before.

"What's up Short Stack?" I asked grinning.

She gave a small dainty snort. "Nothing, and don't call me short stack." She said with a little sass. "You know when you went to visit Aunt Rose in Italy Elle let me sleep in your bed with her. She's so funny." She said giggling.

"Nessie, Rosalie isn't your Aunt anymore. She chose to move on with her life and that included cutting all of us out her life." I said with an exasperated sigh.

Nessie just gave a sad nod. Edward and Bella had already had this talk with her, But Nessie was a child and it's just hard for her to understand. So instead she changed the subject back to Red.

"I was watching you two today in the Cafeteria." She said smiling again.

"Yeah?"

"Yes." She giggled. "Why did you eat the food, you know you can't eat it." She asked.

"Well Short stuff, sometimes when you really Love someone you do some pretty weird things, even eat a burger when i know my body will reject it sooner or later."

Nessie's eyes went wide and a huge Cheshire like grin spread across her face. "You said Love!"

"You're delusional." I teased. I knew what I had said but I liked messing with her.

"Maybe so but you, you're in denial." She said with a smug smirk. "Face it, you have found your true love and now you can't resist her. It really is quit romantic." She said dreamily.

"And what do you know about romance?"

"What?" She shrugged. "I've read enough romance novels."

I shook my head and chuckled a deep chuckle. "Your too much Kid. I think it's about that time though, now scoot because i'm leaving."

She got up and waltzed out of my bedroom humming 'Here Comes The Bride' to herself. My Niece, she's something else.

I shook my head and got up, I usually went over to Red's close to sunset.

From observing her i found out that she usually gets out of work around 5 or 6, then she has dinner with her parents, goes upstairs and does homework, then showers and sleeps.

I threw on a sweater even though i didn't really need it then headed out. I walked out the back door, ignoring the snickers Edward and Jasper made about me going out again tonight.

Jacob and Nessie were following Bella into the Lake house, I could smell warm chocolate and assumed Bella must have made them hot cocoa to drink.

I easily made my way across the frozen lake, which by the way supports my weigh fairly easy. Once i was at her house i began my usual inspection.

The predator in me wanted nothing more than to make sure Red was never in harms way, i felt inside of me that it was my job to protect her and always keep her safe.

I felt my cell vibrate and and quickly drew it from my pant pockets.

[ALICE: Stand near the kitchen.]

I usually spent a majority of my time around Red's room, trying to learn as much about her as i could. As instructed i stood near a tree right next to the Kitchen window. To my delight i heard Red's voice. I risked being seen as i peeked into the window. She was asking her stepmom if she needed help, just then her mother asked her peel potatoes.

They worked in a comfortable silence until Red spoke.

"So," She spoke, breaking the silence between the two of them. A worried look ran across the woman's face.

The two spoke and Elle confessed to being asked out today.

I couldn't help but smile along with her as i recalled her face this morning in French Class, she wasn't expecting it at all. To be honest, i hadn't planned any of it. The minute she wrote that no one had asked her my body was moving of it's own accord.

The Lady beamed affectionately.

Elle continued filling her in about me in a too generous fashion. I liked the way she described my family. Although what she said was the truth and also the cover story everyone heard about us, others never stick to it. They make it seem like a husband and wife adopting a whole bunch of kids is a weird thing and the fact that my adopted siblings date is blasphemy. But not Red, she never once judged us. I wonder if she would still be comfortable around us or run screaming when i one day tell her of our ugly truth.

"They sound like a lovely family." Her Mom said breaking my train of thought. "Maybe you should invite Him over for dinner some time so your Father and I can meet him." She suggested.

Even from here I could clearly see the deep blush coloring her cheeks. "Well he isn't my boyfriend or  anything," She said a little sadly. Then she began to describe me to her stepmother.

My dead heart wanted to beat so furiously at how happy i was, i was elated to find out that Red felt so strongly about me.

"Give it time Honey, soon enough, if he's as smart as you say, he will realize you are quite a catch and he will be asking you out." She said.

I walked a little away from the tree, she was right, Red is a catch and i needed to act quickly and ask her to be with me. I hadn't overlooked the fact that she draws a lot of lustful looks from some of the boys in school, hell even some of the male teachers like to ogle her.

My Red headed siren was a dangerous mix of Beautiful and innocent. And i would do anything to protect her.

I went and sat on her balcony, knowing i would hear her as she approached her room.

A few hours later, i heard her little feet hitting the stairs as she jogged her way up. Before she reached the top of the staircase i jumped from the balcony and back onto the ground.

I heard her open her room door and then her bedroom light flicked on. I waited almost an hour before i picked up a handful of small rocks and gently tossed some of them against her window

My nerves were starting to get the best of me, 'Quit acting like a pansy' I said to myself.

I tossed a few more rocks and then her Balcony light came on and out walked my beauty.

She leaned over the railing and smiled down at me, the huge moon up above shone down just a little behind her giving her a very angelic glow that was hauntingly beautiful.

"Can I come up?" I asked.

She nodded her head enthusiastically.

As usual i climbed the tree and the bound onto the edge of the balcony and threw my legs over, judging by her face i had both shocked and worried her. Then she began pounding her little hand against my bicep. I closed my eyes knowing how this would turn out.

"Ow" She whined as she cradling her hand. "Jesus your muscles are hard as rocks."

Yep, i knew she would injure herself.

This was my Karma, for all those time i made fun of Bella and Edward. Now here i was with my own very breakable human. Any trace of humor in the situation was gone the minute her fragile hand made contact with my arm.

"I'm sorry, um, why did you decide to hit me?"I asked Sympathetically as I lovingly looked her hand over.

"Well you nearly scared me to death." She said setting her jaw in a determined fashion. "Jumping from trees, you could have hurt yourself." She said sounding angry, i forgot she was such a spitfire, no one else in this world has ever gone toe to toe with me and won, but i had a feeling that if she did i would gladly lose.

"Red," I sighed "It was a short jump, i landed on the lip of the balcony easily, i swear i was in no danger ever." I said trying to amend things.

"Next time you can just call or text me." She stated.

"I don't have your number." I smirked.

"Or maybe you just wanted to see me." She accused arching a brow.

"What makes you say that." I asked still smirking.

"Well," she said casually "All of your sisters plus your cousin have both my house and cell phone numbers."

I had to fight the urge to laugh at her boldness. "And what if i did just want to see you?" I simply laid out.

At first her mouth popped open and then she composed herself, i guess she wasn't expecting me to admit it. "Then i would say it would be quite the scandal, gossip would spread like wildfire through school."

"And why is that?" I asked.

"Because it is quite improper for a girl to have a guy climb through her window at night, especially one who isn't her boyfriend." She proclaimed.

"Hmm, you have a point Miss Elle." I said tapping my chin playfully. I was thinking over the pros and cons of my next move, then i went for it. "Maybe we should change that." I said leaning into her inches away from her face.

She gasped and a blush flooded her face. She swallowed hard and licked her very plump lips. This small action had me craving to touch her lips with my own.

"What exactly are you saying Emmett?" She locked her eyes with mine and asked.

This was one of the things she does that makes me deem her a spitfire. She will look you dead in the eye, not many people are confident enough to do this small task, it challenges others to tell the truth.

"I like you Elle, A lot." I confessed "To be honest i even went to Italy Because of you." I found myself confessing.

She gasped once more, I knew Alice would have told her where and Why i went.

My words were pouring out of me. I knew i should filter these things but i couldn't.

And finally I asked her to be my girlfriend.

A flood of emotions ran across her eyes, she held onto the silence for a minute then spoke. "Emmett, my feelings for you are strong, so strong that sometimes it scares me, i shouldn't be able to have feelings like this for someone i just met, but i know they're real."

"How bout it then Red, wanna give US a chance?"

She smiled a wide smile and nodded before throwing her arms around me.

I couldn't help but lean in and kiss her smooth lips softly.

I have never been this close to a human before, to say the kiss was without difficulty would be a lie. My head and heart knew that i loved this girl, but the darker side of me fought to drink this precious redhead dry.

I unwillingly pulled away and grabbed her face, i knew my love for her was stronger than the beast inside, I stroked Her cheek with my thumb.

I smiled at her and she fell into my chest. I hugged her fragile frame against me once more, her arms wrapped themselves around my torso. We held onto each other for a while. I closed my eyes and enjoyed this moment.

But all too soon i knew she would need to get to sleep and i figured i had interrupted her homework, so i knew i had to go. "I guess i should go now." I said, getting up from the bed.

She looked torn to have distance now between us.

"I'll see you tomorrow at school." I said to her, reaching down and stroking her face.

She smiled and walked me out to the balcony.

"C'mon, let just go use the door, you're going to kill yourself trying to jump from this balcony." She huffed

I took Her face in my hands and cradled it carefully, then kissed her lightly. "I'll be fine babe, i promise. If i get hurt, i give you full permission to kick my ass." I said smirking at her now dazed look. I liked that i had this effect on her.

Before she could stop me i was over the railing and then dropping from my feet to my hands then i let go and fell swiftly to the ground, landing in a crouching position. I looked back at her and smirked then blew her a kiss and took off in a light jog back to the house.

Of course Alice, Esme and Nessie were by the front door waiting for me when i got home.

"It took you long enough." Alice smirked.

Esme and Nessie just hugged and congratulated me. Then i noticed Bella wasn't amongst the women.

I excused myself and then went off to look for her.

I didn't have to look far, She was in the lake house in one of the rooms they had turned into a library.

"Hey." She said looking back at me with a slight smile.

"So i guess you heard?" I asked.

"Yes, uh. Congrats?" She replied in a slight question.

"Thanks," I replied unsure. "Look Bells, i really like Red and you know i love you like a little sister and i would appreciate it if you showed her a little more kindness." I said, brows furrowed with worry.

"Em, you can't force me to like someone. Sure she's a great girl, and i'm glad you're happy but it still feels wrong to me, all i'm saying is don't expect me to welcome her into the family with open arms." She said flatly, as if the topic bored her.

This irritated me so i replied harshly.

"I don't give a fuck what you think or do, it doesn't even matter, it's not like you're really part of this family anyways."

She looked like if she could cry she would be bawling. I regretted the words instantly but there was no way i could take them back. In an instant Edward and Jasper ran into the room with Jake trailing behind them.

"Bells, i'm really sor-"

"Emmett, i think you need to leave." Jasper said sadly.

I didn't even try to argue, i looked up and saw a pissed off Jake and Edward.

I walked slowly back to the main house, Esme gave me a sad smile, even though she knew i was in the wrong she was still trying to cheer me up.

I was walking up the stairs when Alice came out of her bedroom. She gave me a sympathetic hug.

"I don't condone what you just said." She said "But i also don't like what Bella's doing. I have a bad feeling about this thing with Bella and Rosalie. So far i can't see anything and i pray it stays that way."

I nodded, would Bella really try and push Red away just because she missed Rosalie?

"You should call your girlfriend." She said with a happier smirk "She's neglecting her homework worrying over you."

"Thanks" i said hugging her. I ran up to my bedroom and closed the door, i knew everyone in the house could still hear me but at least they would know i wanted to be left alone.

I scrolled through my contacts and found her number. I remember when Alice had programmed it in my phone, saying I would one day need it.

I pressed talk and then listened to the ring. Then she Answered "Hello?"She asked timidly.

"Hey," i smiled upon hearing her voice once more. "I thought i would take your advice and just call you. I figured you were probably worrying about me getting home, so i just wanted to call and let you know i made it home ok."

"I'm glad you called, you were right, i was worried. " She admitted.

I couldn't help it and i chuckled into the phone. "Well i'll let you go, you need to get to sleep."

"Yeah. Well good night." She said.

"Goodnight." I said and hung up.

I laid in bed and waited a few minutes before i decide to go back to her house.

Once i got to her place, i let myself in and carefully laid down next to her in her warm bed.

After laying with her body snuggled next to mine for nearly an hour she spoke.

"Emmett i'm so cold." She said.

My eyes went wide and i froze in fear, I didn't know how to react, she had finally caught me in her bed with her while she slept.

Then she made a weird inaudible sound i figured out she was still asleep. I breathed an un-necessary sigh of relief...this was the first time she'd ever spoken in her sleep.

I leaned into her and whispered. "I Love you Elle." Then i kissed her temple and left.

When i got back home i was once again met at the front door, only this crew was all male and they weren't very happy.

Jake was shaking with anger and Edward was glaring at me. Jasper was frustrated and probably just wanted everyone to go back to normal so he would stop feeling every ones tense emotions.

"Hi." I said in mock amusement.

"I should fucking pound you bloodsucker." Jake said stepping forward, Edward held out and arm to stop him.

"Em, how could you say those things to Bella, you know she is weak." Edward tried to say calmly.

"For one, Jake this shit has NOTHING to do with you, and secondly, Edward, Bella is a fucking Vampire, how the hell is she weak?" I asked. "Everyone is all 'oh Bella, She's new to this,' but guess what, she's been a vampire for 2 years now, Rosalie has been gone for 2 years now. And i FINALLY find someone who makes me happy and i can't just enjoy it because poor Bella is moping about missing Rosalie, and her actions are showing her distaste for Elle." I was pissed now.

The guys looked shocked. No one had ever spoken harshly about Bella, sure i loved her but i was tired of her angsty teenager bullshit.

"Oh and wasn't it you Edward that came to me complaining that Rosalie wasn't being nice to Bella, that i needed to talk to her and explain how you had found the one person in life worth being with and that if she kept up her behavior you were afraid she would push her away. Guess what, the tables have turned and now it's your wife who's the bully, congratulations." I said and then i pushed passed both him and Jake and went up to my room, Bella was in the living room and wore a hurt face.

"Em, I didn't..." She tried to apologise.

I just Shook my head and rolled my eyes. Then i turned and made my way upstairs...I wasn't in any mood to deal with her right now.

I got in bed, popped in my headphones and listened to the haunting music of Aqualung as i thought about all of the amazing nights i spent watch my beautiful Red sleeping. She was so peaceful and stress free, i wished it could always be that way for her.
