Author's POV.

Fear.

Four letter small word. But, it holds the power to change the world. Fear can freeze even the bravest, making it hard to think clearly and see a brighter future. But sometimes, fear pushes people to face their fears and make big changes. It's like a powerful thread woven into the fabric of life, shaping how things turn out. Fear can be a tool for protection or a barrier to moving forward, depending on how we use it.

This is the only emotion Hernandez are feeling right now. Fear. Fear of losing their sister. Fear of losing Olivia.

The moment they heard about the accident. They literally break every traffic rule just to reach hospital.

When they came here, they came to know that she is transferred to Operation theatre as she is in critical condition.

It's been 2 hours 23 minutes that each one of them are waiting outside of the operation theatre, waiting for some good news to come from inside, for their sister, who is fighting inside for her life.

Hazel is sobbing continuously, while William is sitting worriedly.

Ethan immediately went to the place where accident takes place, while Sophia is trying to comfort Hazel.

Noah and Jack are not different from others. They are sitting silently lost in their thoughts.

Michael keeps pacing back and forth.

While Mason's heart is keep beating fast. His tears dried. His eyes reddend. It's been a four years, he again cried for someone. He already lost someone so special, he just don't want to lose his twin also. He heard the vulnerability in Olivia's tone in the last sentence, she spoke. And that is constantly breaking his heart.

"Olivia- William, what happened to Olivia ?"

Their heads snaps towards the voice.

"M-Mom" William immediately rush towards her.

"William what happened to Olivia ? Is she ok ?" Andrew (Their Father) asks.

"Dad, Olivia has had an accident. She is in critical condition and in operation theatre." He inform them.

They sighs and takes place on the chairs silently.

Not long after, Ethan arrives.

"What happen ? Did Doctor inform anything ?" He immediately asks worriedly. Sophia shakes her head in negative.

He sighs and sit beside Mason.

All are sitting there lost in their thoughts.

The sound of the clock ticking on the wall feels like time passing slowly, making each second feel like forever. They feel stuck between hope and despair, unsure of what the future holds, which fills their hearts with fear.

But amidst the darkness that threatens to engulf them, a flicker of hope still remains, a beacon of light that refuses to be extinguished. They draw strength from each other, their bond forged in love and resilience, as they cling to the belief that somehow, someway, Olivia will emerge victorious from this battle for her life.

I h-hate you, Mase I-I h-hate everyone.

Mase, y-you snatch my h-happiness from me.

I h-hate you, Mase.

I hate you.

Mason shut his eyes tightly. Tears roll down his cheeks. His fist clenches as his chest tightens.

No, Olivia, please don't leave us. I am so fucking sorry. I will do everything in me to make it up for you. But, please don't leave us. I know, I was an asshole to you. Not once, but always. And, trust me, I am regretting it with each second. I am so sorry, Olivia, please please be okay.

Mason clenches his fist more, trying to stop himself from crying more.

He knows that Olivia is a strong girl. She will be fine. She will fight for herself. And he knows, she will win this battle.

But what if she don't want to win ? What if she just don't want to fight ?

How he is gonna calm his thumping heart ? how can he stop his overthinking ?

The overthinking that says that she is tired of her life, that she will not fight for her life. The vulnerability in her tone is constantly breaking his heart. If anything happens to her, he will never be able to forgive himself. Tears continuously rolls down his cheeks.

"She will be fine, Mason. Don't worry." Ethan mumble, patting younger boy's back.

Mason looks at him with teary eyes.

Ethan's heart breaks seeing tears in his younger brother's eyes.

Mason never cries for small things. Despite being the youngest brother, he actually masks his emotions really well. The last time, they saw him crying is when Ria died. And now, seeing his red teary eyes, just breaks their hearts more.

"She can never be fine, Ethan. I broke her in worst way possible." He mumbles.

Everyone's eyes widen.

"What do you mean ?" Noah, who is silent from a long time, asks.

"S-She told me that she h-hate us. She hate me. She told me that she was all alone. No one cares for her. She really said that she h-hate us. She is not wrong tho. We all hurt her in some way or other, especially me. I was always so mean to her. I-I- Ethan, w-what if she just don't want to live ?"

Mason chokes with a sob as Ethan immediately hugs him.

William's breath hitch when he remembers the pain in her eyes that day, when she came to his office.

4 years, William. Check your call list and tell me how many times you have called me in these four years ?

His eyes waters.

I am sorry, Lia. I am so fucking sorry. Please please please be fine.

He looks down and sigh.

Michael's heart clenches as he remembers the harsh words he told her.

Go and die, no one cares !!!

Tears rolled down his cheeks, as he curse himself for saying something like that to his own little sister. He is regretting each and every word, he told her.

Olivia was actually very sweet girl but suddenly what happened to her that she started talking rudely to everyone. She started being disrespectful to everyone. From her brothers to her teachers everyone. She started saying mean things to everyone. She started bullying in school. She becomes spoilt girl of a rich family. Eventually, her relationships with everyone in her house changed.

The once happy laughs and giggles of Hernandez Mansion changes into shouts, yells and cryings.

Within four years all this turned into hatred. And everyone became distant from each other.

William left the house with his wife Hazel. Ethan left the house with Sophia. Jack busied himself in his singing and parties. Noah got busy with his girlfriend Jane. Michael founds his comfort in basketball and distant himself from his house and family. While, Mason, he just lost his someone special, just because of his sister. Hurt is the only thing he felt at that time. And Hatred was the only emotion that left in his heart for his sister. But now as he realises, it's too late.

The door to the operation theatre swings open, and the doctor emerges, his expression grave, sending a ripple of apprehension through everyone. They've been waiting for what feels like an eternity, every passing minute fraught with dread and uncertainty. As the doctor approaches, their hearts plummet, bracing themselves for the worst.

"What happened Doctor ? Is my daughter fine ?" Andrew immediately asks. Concern evident in his voice.

Doctor looks at them sadly.

"Please say something, Doctor. I-Is she fine ?" Amelia (Their Mom) begs, with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"She is out of danger"

A relief cross their hearts as they takes a breath of relief.

A smile breaks through their faces, which falters the very next moment, Doctor opens his mouth.

"But, the patient suffered a traumatic injury resulting in extensive damage to the spinal cord, leading to complete paraplegia."

"What the fuck does that mean ?" Jack spats in anger.

"In simple terms, the injury to her spine is very severe. The bones in her back are broken, and this has caused damage to the spinal cord, which is like the body's messaging system for moving and feeling. Right now, they can't move their legs or feel anything below where the injury happened. We did surgery to try to fix things as best we could, but the damage is so bad that she won't be able to walk again."

Everyone's eyes widen as they process the words of the Doctor.
