It was a nice and breezy day of March and Harry was walking down the nearly empty streets of Godric's Hollow. Ginny was right next to him, her arm tangled with his, as they approached the graveyard. They had visited this place many times before, almost once a month. Harry often came alone, it just felt more appropriate to come alone. He felt that now that the Great War was over, he deserved to spend at least a little time with his parents, dead or alive. But today was different, today they were there to thank them, more specifically, thank her.
Even if the memories of his mother were very faint, almost erased, her screams of horror and sacrifice still haunted him, or more of, reminded him of her sacrifice. They passed many familiar grave stones, with recognizable last names like Abbott. Finally, they approached Lily Potter's grave stone.
'The last enemy that shall be conquered is death' it read.
"Harry, you should do the honor," Ginny whispered softly, as she handed him the bouquet of flowers. Harry laid the flowers on the cold gravestone grimly. There was a moment of silence.
The silence was not awkward, it was not out of grief, it was golden. Harry decided that it would only be right to thank his mother now, silently, and by the look on Ginny's face, he knew she understood. Her eyes were closed and she looked very thoughtful.
'Happy Mother's Day mum, wherever you are. Thank you for everything you did,' Harry thought, pretending she was there listening. More like hoping that she would be here right now, hugging him like he saw Mrs. Weasley hug her children when they were in pain. Ginny put her arm around Harry, hugging him closely. It was as if she could read his mind, and that's when he truly knew that he had chosen the right person.
'Mum, I hope you are proud of me,' he though as they apparated to the Burrow, to say thank you to his aunt and mother in law.
