8 | ORIGINAL PROTECTORS

THE days after Kol Mikaelson's departure from Mystic Falls to Denver, went by slowly for both him and Margo Donovan. Neither of the two realized how used they had gotten to the other in the last few days. Sensing her somewhat depressed mood, Klaus told Rebekah to keep his best friend company and to lift her spirits while he was put doing business. And it wasn't hard to convince the blonde Original because she had taken a liking in the small human that is Kol's mate.

And that is how Margo ended up at the Restoration fundraiser for the Wickery Bridge with Rebekah. The vampire excused herself to go and talk to Mayor Lockwood while Margo entertained herself by looking at the construction. Not that there was much to look at.

"Did you get what you want?" The human asked the vampire once she joined her again. She was anxious to get rid of the last of the wood, she didn't want Kol or her friends to die.

"Not quite. But I'll figure it out." Rebekah answered her, looking at something. Margo followed her gaze and saw Damon talking to a red head that the human didn't know. But Rebekah did.

"Who is that?" She asked the vampire who looked at the unknown woman with a scowl on her face.

"Sage." The Mikaelson replied bitterly. Margo's eyes widened.

"As in Finn's long lost girlfriend?" The human asked, disbelief coating her tone and the vampire nodded in confirmation.

"Woah." Margo said, her eyes wide as she followed Rebekah - who had begun to walk over to Sage and Damon.

"Look what the cat dragged in." The blonde commented snarkily and Margo's eyes widened at her unpleasant tone. It was different from the tone she used around Elena. There was more venom in it.

"Easy there, Rebekah. You know she use to beat men for sport." Damon said and Margo frowned heavily - she couldn't imagine why someone would hurt another person as a sport. She would never hurt someone intentionally - not even Damon.

And, yes, it is quite ironic considering who her best friend is.

"She always was quite common." The blonde said in the same tone as before, making Margo's eyes widen even more.

"Rebekah!" Margo scolded but there was a smile on her face.

"Rebekah. What a happy surprise. And I see you've compelled yourself a human friend. Let me guess, she's a whore just like you." The red head said in a blunt tone and Margo took a step back - as if she had been slapped - while Damon's widened.

"Yeah, might not want to insult the only human all of the Originals like and are hell bent on protecting. You really don't want to find how murderous Klaus can get when it comes to girly Donovan. And don't even get me started on Kol." Damon advised Sage, who looked at the human with curiosity in her features.

"Kol, huh?" The red head said, more to herself than anyone else. "Last I remembered, he doesn't care about anything or anyone." She said bluntly, hoping to hurt the human but all she did was anger her.

"I'm not a whore and I'm sorry that Finn left and that you are heartbroken but that gives you no right to take it out on others." Margo told her angrily and turned to walk off into her own direction. Rebekah watched the human girl that she's come to think of as a friend, with a sad look.

Rebekah glared at the red head. "Just so you know, both Nik and Kol will hear about this." She told her matter-of-factly. The Original knows that the girl is to kind and forgiving to tell them herself.

"So, she's a taddle-tale." Sage said sourly. She had one of two options: leave the girl alone or kill her and loose her own life. She fancied the first option more than the second one.

"Are you kidding? That girl makes Saint Stefan look like the devil. She is so pure and honest it makes me feel guilty." Damon defended the girl he almost killed - something he still felt guilty about. "Which is why I don't get her friendship with Klaus. I mean, the guy is as evil as they come."

"Then how will Klaus and Kol know?" She asked the duo, although she had a pretty good idea about the answer.

"Simple." Rebekah said with a smirk. "I'll tell them."

The little human ended up at the refreshments table and she poured herself a glass of apple juice that she sipped on slowly as she cast brief glances at Rebekah, Damon and Sage.

The red headed vampire had offended her greatly. She was a lot of things and she had also been called a lot of things but never a whore. It was the one thing Margo prided herself on. While most girls went out and lost their virginities like one loses pens, the human kept hers and promised herself she would only give it to someone that she loved with all her heart, body, mind and soul. Which is why she was so hurt by the vampire's comment.

She took another sip of the Apple juice - her favorite cold beverage - and sighed. Did she come across as a whore? Did she dress like one? Did she look like one? All these questions danced around her head and she looked down at her outfit. She had on a white summer dress that reached just above her knees with matching pumps.

That wasn't a sluty outfit - was it?

"Don't bother yourself over what, Sage, said. It's all nonsense anyways." She heard her blonde friend say from besides her. Margo was so deep in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the vampire approaching her.

"Is it really nonsense? Do I look like a whore?" She asked softly and Rebekah's heart broke. She cast a glare in Sage's direction - Klaus and Kol will definitely heard about this.

Underneath under all that kindness and goodness, lied an insecure girl that was bother by a lot of things that she burried but the red headed vampire just brought it all out again.

The vampire gently placed her hands on Margo's shoulders, "Trust me, you are not sluty. At all." The human gave her a weak smile bit didn't give any indication of whether she believes the blonde or not. Rebekah sighed and dropped her hands from the human's shoulders, who said nothing.

"Did I ever tell you you're sexy when you're bitchy?" Damon said to Rebekah. Margo knew it wasn't for her because she wasn't bitchy with Sage - she simply told the truth.

"And that's my que." Margo said, as she walked off. She really didn't want to talk to Damon. She was still a little alert in his presence. But no one could blame her.

JUST after her encounter with Damon, Rebekah quickly ushered her new human friend to her car. She drove Margo home and kept thinking about the younger vampires words. The Donovan girl noticed that the vampire was in deep thought about something and decided not to interfere.

"Thanks for the ride." Margo politely told the Original who gave her a smile and bid her a goodbye. Shrugging, the human went inside. Since she didn't have work today, she decided to clean the house.

She washed her and Matt's clothes, did the dishes, sweeped and mopped the floors. It took her the whole afternoon and frankly, it was tiring. But she couldn't go to sleep yet, she still had a shift at the Grill tonight. Which is why she dressed for work instead of taking a nap. She drove to work in her own car, like her brother's it wasn't anything fancy but it was enough to get her where she needed to be.

Arriving at the Grill, Margo clocked in, grabbed a dish bucket and began to pick up the empty dishes on the table. The human wasn't looking forward to washing dishes once again, seeing as she just washed her own ones at home. Luckily Matt was working at home so she could just ask him.

Matt of course agreed to help his twin sister and Margo made her way to the bar. She would serve the drinks. It was a quiet day and that didn't bother the human girl in the least.

Hours later Rebekah came into the girl with a glare on her face. "I'm going to kill Damon Salvatore, slowly and painfully." Upon hearing her words, Margo's eyes widened and she poured the blonde a glass of bourbon. Klaus told her it helped them keep their emotions and bloodlust in control.

"I'm not asking because I like the guy, because I don't, but what has he done now?" The human asked the vampire warily. Rebekah downed the glass in one go and gestured for Margo to give her the bottle. Kol's mate raised an eyebrow but handed it to her.

"He seduced me!" She exclaimed and Margo's eyes widened. But then she bit her bottom lip as the words set in. The blonde is upset because she slept with Damon. Again. But before Margo could make a comment, Sage sat down next to Rebekah. The human's mood plummeted and her smile fell of her face as she remembered what the vampire told her just a few hours prior.

"I'm afraid he did much more than just seduce you. Well, we both did." The red head said with a tight smile and a slightly worried expression. This made Margo momentarily forget about what Sage said to her and she looked at the vampire with interest and concern. She knew it had to be bad if the vampire was worried and came to Rebekah about it.

"What are you talking about?" Rebekah asked, clearly confused.

"Damon told me that you were snooping around but he couldn't figure out why and so I offered to get into your mind if he could get you comfortable enough. I told him that I saw about the white oak." She told the Original, wincing the whole way through. Margo gaped at her and resisted the urge to facepalm. And Rebekah looked ready to murder. "Look before you murder me, you need to know that Damon knows where the white oak is. But the good thing is, so do I."

"Why would you help us?" Margo asked suspiciously and Rebekah looked at her, also wanting an answer. The blonde also liked how Margo said 'us' it meant that she was on their side and not the 'Save Elena Squad's' side.

"Because, what Damon didn't tell me was that you all were linked. If one dies, so does the others." Sage explained honestly and Margo nodded.

"Where is it then?" The Original asked the red head.

"Wickery bridge." This time, Margo facepalmed. It was under their noses the whole time. She felt so foolish but also happy. Happy that the threat to Kol's life was gone. Klaus' too. But for some reason a bigger part of her cared that Kol was safe.

"Let's go them." Rebekah told the red head.

"I'm coming to." Margo said, surprising Sage. Rebekah was about to object but when she saw the determined look in the human's eyes, she nodded in agreement. Margo's shift was over anyways. "I need to make sure that there is no chance that anything can happen to Kol."

Rebekah grinned at her words while Sage frowned and wondered, 'Who the hell is this girl to the Originals and what is the deal with her and Kol?'
