6 | MURDEROUS THOUGHTS

AFTER Kol had told Margo about the white oak tree and that they were looking for it any why, she immediately offered to help. Which is how she ended up sitting besides Rebekah, across from Carol Lockwood in the Mystic Grill while Kol was at the bar listening into their conversation. The soulmates glancing at each other now and again.

"Thank you for meeting with us, Mayor. I figured as head of the Preservation Society, you'd be a good person to ask about the oldest trees in this community." Rebekah said in an polite tone that Margo couldn't tell if it was real or fake.

"A long line of Lockwood women use to keep those records, back before any of them had actual jobs." The Mayor answered just as politely, still confused on how Margo Donovan of all people was involved with the oldest and deadlist family of vampires alive.

"I've been to the Founders' archive, but I can't seem to find any record of the tree I'm looking for." The Originals vampire told her.

"It probably got cut down. Big old trees built half of this town in the 1900s." She said and glanced over to the bar where Kol was drinking by himself, waiting for the two to finish up. Margo scowled at this. Everyone knew that the Mayor had a thing for younger men. She'd better not try her luck with Kol, he's mine, Margo thought to herself and shocked herself at her thoughts. She had just met the guy and here she was getting possesive of him. Margo quickly dropped her scowl once the Mayor adverted her gaze but not before Rebekah saw and a slight smirk was tugging on her lips. Meanwhile, Stefan and Damon enter the Grill and headed towards the bar.

"Oh, She-Devil and Girly Donovan at nine o'clock. Word of advice, stay away from Donovan unless you want to be threatened." Damon told his little brother. The two Mikaelson's heard this and smiled. Rebekah looked up and she and Damon stared at each other.

"Do you happen to know who kept the milling ledgers during that period?" The blonde asked, returning her attention to the matter at hand.

"Back then all the logging mills were owned by the Salvatores." Carol asked and Margo groaned inwardly.

"Thank you for your time and the information, Mayor. If you'll excuse me, I think I'll go straight to the source." Rebekah told Carol, who nodded. The two females stood up from their seats and headed for the bar.

"I really don't want to be near Damon." The human told Rebekah.

"You can go and sit with Kol." The Original said in a soft tone, understanding where the girl was coming from but that didn't stop the smirk from growing on her lips as she watched Margo's entire face light up at the mention of the wildest Original.

"I can do that." Margo said happily and skipped of towards Kol and Rebekah when to the oppisite side where the Salvatores were.

"Hey." She said as she ploped down next to the Original. A soft smile immediately grew on his face and Kol turned to face her.

"Hello." He greeted back and locked eyes with her. The two stared at each other for a while before Kol finally broke it by turning back to the bar with a glare in the Salvatores direction even if they couldn't see it because they were occupied with his sister. He didn't like the fact that Margo was almost hurt, three times by the same person, or vampire in this case.

"So, I know there isn't much in Mystic Falls but how are you liking it so far?" She asked him, geniunely curious about what he thought about her home town.

"Well, the booze is good and you're here so it's bareable." He told her in a flirty tone but he ment every word he said. The booze is good and she's his soulmate. The girl's cheeks flushed a deep red, not being used to attention, and Kol grinned. He also decide that he liked seeing her blush and would do so more often.

"Come on, darling, Rebekah needs some help." Kol told his human mate after a few seconds and she groaned audibly. She looked over and saw Damon, Stefan at the darts board with Rebekah walking over.

"Do we have to?" Margo questioned in a tone that resembled a whine.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you." He said with a grin as he drank the rest of his drink and got up. Margo followed him and as per usual he wrapped an arm around her waist, something that the human liked very much.

"That's a bit sexist. A woman could easily kill a man, with the right motivation." Kol and Margo heard Rebekah say.

"I'll vouch for that statement. Lately, I want to kill Damon on a daily basis." Margo says and Kol surpresses a chuckle at her words. The Salvatores looked at the pair and their confusion grew. Margo would barely let anyone besides her friends hug her but here she was, allowing an Original vampire - that she just met - to wrap his arm around her waist and she looked quite comfortable. In all honesty, she was very comfortable.

"Hey!" Said vampire called out. "I thought we were past that, I even apologized." He went on and Margo grinned.

"You apologized?" Stefan asked in shock and disbelief.

"Well, I was threatening his life." Kol comments in a matter-of-fact tone. Damon only rolled his eyes in response.

"You just, uh, don't give up, do you?" The former ripped asked in a very un-Stefan like tone and Margo noticed this.

"Give up on what?" Kol asked, not having listened in on the converastion between the three vampires but rather paid attention to his mate.

"Well, we had a very interesting conversation about the Salvatore name, then we talked about some murders way back when and the a woman named Sage came up and after that the two left me and now we're all over here." The blonde original infromed the two. "Moving on though," She looked at Stefan. "Why are you so grumpy?"

"He's on a master cleanse. Trying to be a better man and all." Damon tells them all and Margo looked at Stefan with sympathy. He's been having trouble with his bloodlust since turning his humanity back on.

"You know, you were a lot more fun in the '20s." Rebekah comments and Damon bumps Rebekah with his elbow while Magro gave her friend a look of disapproval.

"Well, I wouldn't know about that, I had a dagger in my heart but I do know that being a vampire is supposed to be fun. All the bloodshed and the murder." Kol said, and his words got him a jab in the side from his mate. He looked down at her and she shook her head and he gave her a smile, that made her blush and Kol feel like he's on cloud nine.

"Don't rile him up." Damon told them and he took the bottle of whiskey. "He's testy when he's being self-righteous."

"Something you know nothing about." Margo comments bluntly.

"Rude." Damon said but the human just ignored him.

"I'm not being self-righteous, Damon. I'm just not interested in slaughtering innocent human beings, like Margo, anymore." Stefan said, glancing at said human as he did so. Kol tightened his grip on her slightly and gave Stefan a warning glance.

"Oh, okay, fair enough. My mistake." He takes out Stefan's journal and Margo shook her head at him. "You used to be self-righteous." He begins to read from the journal. "Dear diary, Damon has lost his way, though I have pulled my own life together he continues to waste his."

Rebekah grabs the journal from Damon and Margo just gives her friend a disapproving glance as Kol smiled at the expression on her face, thinking she is just to cute.

"Ouch." She starts to read Stefan's journal aloud. "His bitterness consumes him. He is nothing but blackness and vile." That's when Margo decides to step in. She taps Kol's arm and getting the message, he lets her go. She takes the journal from her blonde friend who says, "Oh, judgy."

The human looks at Damon and Rebekah and says, "Have you two no shame?" She closes the journal and winds the strap around it and hands it back to Stefan.

"Thank you." Stefan says greatfully and gives her a smile and she returns it, causing a jolt of jealousy to go through Kol but it dissapears when Margo turns to him and makes her way back to him. When she is at his side, he wraps an arm around her again and places a kiss on her forehead.

"You know, if I'm being honest, you didn't seem like much fun either, Damon." Rebekah comments.

"He sounds like on of those books Elijah reads, boring." Kol adds on with a smirk, agreeing with his sister and Margo chuckles.

"I wasn't. The woman I was in love with was stuck in a tomb and she wasn't getting out for a hundred years. I wasn't having any fun at all. But then Sage, a spunk filled, red head, taught me too let loose and have fun again." The eldest Salvatore told them and realisation speads through the Mikaelson siblings.

"That sounds like Sage all right." Rebekah says and Kol nods.

Nudging Kol's side, Margo asks, "Who's Sage?"

"She was Finn's girlfriend centuaries ago." He told her and she turned her lips into an 'ohh' manner.

"How did you know her?" Damon asked Rebekah, not listening to what Kol and Margo talked. He didn't like Kol. For obvious reasons.

"She was obsessed with my brother Finn, over 900 years ago." The blonde answers them.

"What? Creepy suicidal guy?" Damon asked, making the human sigh as she rested her head on Kol's chest and Stefan tapped his ring.

"You're doing it again." Damon told his brother and Margo looked at the two with interest as Stefan got up.

"Alright, you know what, I need to, uh, I gotta get out of here." Stefan said in a panicked tone. Margo felt bad for him. She knew all about how her best friend made the Ripper flip his humanity switch. That's actually how they became friends, she went to ask Klaus to compel Stefan turn his humanity back on. The Hybrid rejected her request but liked her nature. She asked something from him without threatening him. The next day he asked her to out with him, as friends, and because Margo is Margo, she said yes. And so, the two became the best of friends.

Something no one in Mystic Falls liked or approved of but neither of the two cares.

"Sure. First, admit you're jonesing." Damon pushed and Margo shook her head. Damon is going to get himself into trouble one day with his mouth. But he'll probably talk himself out of that to, Margo through with a shrug, causing Kol to glance at her but the human just shook her head in a dismissing manner.

"Damon, I'm not..." Stefan starts but Damon rushes over and grabs him.

"Admit it."

"Okay, fine, I'm freaking out. I'm ready to eat the entire wait staff and Margo is first on the list, why do you need to hear me say it?" Stefan confessed, making Margo tighten her grip on Kol as the Wildest Original glared at the youngest Salvatore that made Damon want to go into hiding.

"Try that, mate, and you won't live through the day." Kol threatend him in a low growl, absoultely serious. He would never let anyone hurt his mate. Confusion and a warm feeling grew in Margo's heart and mind. The warm feeling was because Kol cared so much and the confusion was because she didn't know why Kol cared so much. She wanted to know why but she was scared to ask him because she didn't want him to stop caring.

Damon turned to Stefan and gave him an answer. "Because I'm feeling a little self-righteous too."

The only response he got, was a disbelieving snort from Kol's little mate.
