16 | AN ACTUAL PLAN
PURE bliss. That is what Margo Donovan is feeling as she is watching her mate cooking them breakfast. Or trying to, at least. It wasn’t going so well. Though somehow, she still managed to feel like she was in her own personal version of heaven. She offered to help, but he refused. And that’s how Margo ended up watching her mate with an amused expression as he swore every so often. When smoke came from the pan on the stove and was quickly filling the kitchen, the human girl decided to step in and help her clearing drowning mate.
She switched of the stove, threw the burnt eggs and bacon in the trash and then placed the pan in the sink and opened the warm water tap in the pan, the warm water so that the pan doesn’t get any wobbles. The human also disposed of the pieces of charcoal that was once bread. “So, clearly you don’t exactly understand how a modern kitchen works and is in desperate need of some help.”
Kol nodded, finally giving in with a sigh, “Yes, it would seem that I’m terrible at cooking.”
“Well, I’m sure you have other talents.” She said with an optimistic smile, walking towards her mate. She reached up and locked her arms around his neck. He slung his arms around her waist. “I don’t know what they are, but I know one of them is kissing, I can definitely vouch for that one.”
“I’d be more than happy to show you some more of that talent.” He murmured with a seductive smile, leaning closer to her and down to her lips. Their lips were about to touch when a familiar voice spoke up, killing the mood.
“What the hell? Margo?” Tyler Lockwood. Someone she hasn’t seen in weeks. Looking back on it, it was because of him that Klaus and her became friends. After Tyler was turned, she went to Klaus and asked him to let Tyler go. The Hybrid refused, but he admired her bravery and loyalty, how she as a mere human was willing to face the strongest being alive just for a friend.
Margo turned around and moved out of Kol’s embrace but he wrapped an arm around her waist as per usual. “So, I take from your shocked face you don’t know about us?”
“No, I didn’t know. If I did I would have tried to talk some sense into you.” Tyler fumed, glaring at the Original that looked at him with a baiting smirk. “Seriously, Margo? Kol Mikaelson of all people?”
“Yes, seriously. And I’d appreciate if you didn’t talk about him or to him like that.” Her words were firm and her eyes was serious. The first created Hybrid stared at her in disbelief.
“You know I’m standing right here, mate?” The Mikaelson questioned the tan male with raised eyebrows. He already knows that he will never be good enough for her, there was no need to rub it in his nose.
Tyler nodded, “I know, I just don’t care.”
“I can you kill with without blinking.” Kol threatened, letting go of Margo’s waist and stepping in front of her. He narrowed his eyes at his brother’s Hybrid. If pathetic excuse of a baby vampire was going to look for a fight with an thousand year old Original vampire then he was about to get his ass kicked all the way to the moon.
“You can try.” The Lockwood boy challenged, looking at the much older vampire with raised eyebrows and a smirk on his lips. Tyler sped forward, his Hybrid face coming out as his animal side took over, and made the biggest mistake of his life as he bit into the wrong person.
Margo was getting tired of the two males trying to prove who knows what. So, she stepped around Kol and then in front of her mate. Before she could even utter a word, Tyler was in front of her and bit into her neck. A piercing scream left her mouth and absolute horror and terror filled the Original as he sped forward and ripped Tyler of him. Margo’s knees buckled and she started to fall to the ground but was caught by two strong and familiar arms before she hit the kitchen floor.
“Margo! Margo! Darling, please say something?!” Kol sank to his knees with his mate in his arms, biting into his wrist and shoving it into her mouth as she didn’t respond to his words. It didn’t take long for her human body to respond to the vampire blood. He let out a sigh of relief when her eyes fluttered open and she pulled a face at the taste of blood in her mouth.
“That is disgusting.” She spluttered, gagging as she sat up and tried to get out of Kol’s lap. He kept a firm grip, wanting to calm himself down and needing her to do it.
“Margo, I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” Tyler apologized and this time Margo had to keep a hold of her Original vampire when he wanted to get up and most probably rip his heart out.
“You would have done it either way, so I don’t know why you are apologizing.” The human said blankly, looking Tyler dead in the eyes as she spoke. Getting up slowly, she held Kol’s hand tightly, letting him know not to do anything stupid. With great reluctance, that took all of his basically non-existent self-control, Kol stayed by Margo’s side.
“No, I was going to hurt him.” Tyler objected, pointing to the Original by the human’s side with a glare directed to the male.
“That’s the same thing!” Margo yelled, exploding for the first time in all of the years Tyler has known her. She has never been mean, yelled or judged anyone. She was always smiling and radiating happiness. Until now. “Are all of you so stupid that you can’t see that I’m in love with him and that he means everything to me? That hurting him, hurts me?” Her voice got softer with every word that left her mouth. Her chest heaved up and down as she stared at a boy she once called a close friend.
“Margo, I-” The Lockwood boy started, only to be cut off by the human girl.
“Just forget it, Tyler. For as long as I don’t agree with what Elena and Damon and Stefan says, I will be wrong. What I feel for Kol will always be seen as wrong in your eyes. And why? Because I don’t agree with the decisions made by them.” She let go of Kol’s hand and stood toe-to-toe with Tyler, looking up at the male due to her short height. “Well guess what, Tyler? I. Don’t. Care. Anymore. What you and all of the other think, doesn’t matter to me anymore. I will not apologize or try and change what I feel. I will not leave Kol or any of the Mikaelson’s just because you don’t approve.”
She turned back to Kol, took his hand and dragged him with her as she started to walk out of the ridiculously large kitchen. “What about Matt?”
The small human took a deep breath and didn’t turn to Tyler as her eyes filled with tears. Her heart broke as she spoke the next words, “If he loves me and cares about me at all anymore, he will respect and accept my choice. If he doesn’t, then there is nothing I can do about it.”

HOURS later, Margo was walking up to the Salvatore residence with her soulmate by her side. Klaus just called her and Kol to tell them that Esther’s plan worked and that Alaric is an up and running immortal. He hurt Rebekah and was currently trapped in the High School because he couldn’t leave without bursting into flames. She was going to guess it wasn’t a very pleasurable experience. Which brings her back to now, she was going to stay here while her soulmate, her best friend and the Scooby Gang go and save Elena and Caroline.
“Remind me again, why do I have to go with you?” Kol requested to Klaus as soon as they were inside the parlour of the Salvatore mansion. Klaus, Damon, Stefan, Bonnie’s mother Abby and the witch herself was inside the room. Their heads snapped to the duo the second those words left Kol’s mouth. Abby raised her eyebrows as she saw a human girl by the side of an Original vampire. It was an odd sight to behold if you’re looking from the supernatural side of things.
“Because your life is on the line too and there is no way I loosing you.” Margo answered her mate with a light slap to his chest. Feeling warm all over from her words, Kol gave her a loving smile.
“Right.” The Original vampire nodded, removing that special smile that was reserved for his mate only, and turned to the group. “What’s the plan?”
When they all stayed quiet, making the human’s stomach turn, Margo left Kol’s side and took a step forward. “You do have a plan, right?”
Damon snorted, “Pfft, of course we do.”
“You have no plan, do you?” Margo asked, raising her eyebrows, clearly not amused.
“No, we don’t.” Stefan caved, avoiding the angry looking human.
“Okay, here’s the plan, you all go to the High School and Margo and I will wait for your safe return. If the sun sets and you’re not back, we’ll assume you’re all dead and get the hell out of here.” Kol suggested with a smirk. Margo shot him a glare over her shoulder.
“New plan: you all go to the High School, get Caroline and Elena, while I wait with the getaway car.” Margo said, smiling hopefully at all of them.
“That sounds like a fantastic plan, minus the part where you are coming with us.” Klaus quipped, looking at his best friend with a grin. She opened her mouth to object, “There is no way that you are going with us, Margo.”
“Yeah, I hate to say this but I agree with Klaus.” Stefan commented and Kol nodded.
“They are right, but how am I supposed to fight when I don’t know that Margo is safe?” The wildest Original spoke up, looking at his small and fragile mate. She turned to him with a smile that took his breath away.
“I’ll stay here with her.” Abby offered and Margo look at her with surprise.
“Okay.” The human girl grinned before Kol could object and point out that Abby hasn’t even been turned for barely three months. The supernatural beings quickly detailed their plan while Kol and Margo stood close to each other. The human girl realised that there was a chance that Kol could die today. The thought made her heart clench and her stomach churn dangerously.
“Kol, can I talk to you for a second?” Margo requested just when they were about to leave. The Mikaelson nodded at her and the rest of the supernaturals quickly left the room to give them privacy. He walked to her and stood in front of her.
“What-” He was cut off by Margo pushing her lips to his, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly. He immediately kissed her back. Fear, trust and worry was in their kiss. It was unlike any of their other kisses.
“Come back to me.” Margo pleaded in a whisper as she pulled her lips away from his, her eyes closed.
“I promise I will. I love you.” He swore, a smile on his face. She opened her eyes and her breath caught in her throat as she saw the soft look on his face.
“I love you too.” Kol let her go and walked out of the Salvatore house. As she watched him go, a tear slipped down her cheeks and worry started to eat at her stomach. For Kol. For Klaus. For Damon. For Stefan. For everyone in Mystic Falls.

MYSTIC Falls High School seemed to be a spot that supernaturals loves to fight in and have their showdowns. After Klaus took Elena, leaving Kol with – who got his neck snapped by Alaric – Stefan and Damon who was also temporarily dead. Damon's lying on the hallway floor, his phone next to him. It starts to ring. Damon wakes and groggily grabs it. Bonnie is calling him.
“Why am I still alive?” The eldest brother questioned and Alaric walks up to them.
“Get up.” The Original vampire orders them and Stefan awakens with a groan. “I said, get up. Klaus is gonna kill Elena.”
“What?” Damon questioned in horror and disbelief. He didn’t understand why the Original Hybrid would suddenly want to kill her.
“What are you talking about?” Stefan asked, standing up. “Klaus needs Elena's blood to make hybrids. She's the last person that he'd kill.” The leafy green-eyed vampire said confidently.
“The witch bound my life to Margo’s and Elena's. If she dies, I die. And so does, Margo. Klaus figured that out and now he's taken her, but he doesn’t know the part about Margo. Now, I'm trapped here until the sun goes down, so you two better get doing what you do best. Saving Elena’s life. Only difference is, you need to save Margo as well.” Alaric walks between them, knocking them both out of the way, a malicious smirk on his face at the half lie he told them.
The two brothers looked at each other with wide eyes. What neither of the brothers knew was that Kol woke up and listened to the entire conversation. He sped to the Salvatore mansion with fear in his heart. He was going to get his mate and then go to the mansion and persuade Klaus to not kill Elena, he hoped it would work. Klaus loves her and cares about her. He just hoped that Margo’s life would be enough for Klaus to stop and that he would get there in time.
