13 | GLARING AT JEREMY

HUMMING could be heard in kitchen of the Mikaelson mansion where Margo was making some coffee for herself. Kol went out to feed while she showered and got dressed. She was on her way to go and help out at the school for the decade dance. Rebekah asked to apologize on her behalf; she wouldn't be able to make it today to help but she will be attending the dance. At her news, Margo mentally sent up a prayer at however was out there listening because she knew that Caroline would take over and by the time Rebekah returned, she would no longer have a place on the committee. This was also one of the reasons why the human girl decided to write her name up for decorating and not for the Head of the Committee. People took these things was to seriously.

"Hello, love." An familiar accented voice greeted from behind her. She turned and discovered that Kol was a lot closer than she thought.

"Morning." She greeted shyly, looking up at him with a smile on her lips. The Original barely resisted the urge to lean down and capture her lips with his own.

"Where are we going?" He asked, trying to get his thoughts away from her rosy coloured lips, and gesturing to her clothes.

"Well, I don't know about you, but I'm going to help out at the school to get the gym ready for the dance." She answered him, turning back around and picking up her coffee, needing the caffeine badly. She didn't get nearly enough sleep with waiting up for Kol and all that.

"Can I come, too?" The Mikaelson asked, catching his mate of guard as she turned back around. She pursed her lips, and looked down. "If you don't want me to, that's fine." Kol added on when he saw her reaction.

She looked up, wide-eyed. "N-no, it's not that. I want you to." She assured him, that wasn't what she thought at all. She sighed, placed her coffee on the countertop behind her and took a deep breath to start again, looking down and fumbling with her fingers, "I just thought you'd have something better to do."

Realisation flashed through Kol's eyes as he put the pieces together. Margo still didn't realize that she's the most important thing in his life - not even after he told her that they're soulmates. He smiled gently as he realised that just how unselfish his mate really is and how incredibly lucky he is to have found her. "What could possibly be better than spending time with my soulmate?"

Margo's cheeks was a bright red as her head snapped up, sparkling blue eyes connecting with dark chocolate coloured ones. Kol took a step forward as did the human girl, only to have her back hit the counter. Her heart started beating like she just finished a marathon as she realised she was trapped between Kol and the countertop. He placed his hands on each side of her, locking her in so that she couldn't run, not that she would to begin with.

Kol licked his lips in anticipation, looking into Margo's eyes for permission exactly like he'd done the night before. And just like last night, she gave him a nod.

Nervously, Kol placed his lips on hers slowly and softly, giving her time to pull away and when she didn't, he pressed their lips together with a little more force. She kissed him back just as hard as he did with her. She trailed her hands up his chest - making him shiver - and circled them around his neck. In return, he moved his hands from the counter and placed them on her waist, from there he circled them around her waist, moving them up and down her back. Everywhere his hands touched, it felt like her skin was on fire and as the continued to kiss, it felt like there was a fire that was burning in them - coursing through their veins. Her head spinned and if Kol's hands weren't around her waist, she is sure her knees would have given in. Passion, desire and love swirling in their kiss and in the electric bubble around them.

Eventually, when Margo's need for air came around, they removed their lips from each other. Both were breathing heavily, even if he didn't need it Kol struggled to fill his lungs with enough air. Their foreheads rested together, both beaming and radiating happiness.

KOL and Margo entered the school gym hall in their usual manner, his arm around her waist and her arm around his torso. There was also the blinding beam that hasn't left Margo's face since their kiss. Both of them are over the moon and beyond giddy over the development, but Kol still had a reputation to keep up. All that matters was that his mate knew who he really is.

Looking around, Margo pursed her lips to stop from laughing as she saw Caroline with a clipboard in hand, Elena walking next to her. She let go of Kol's torso and shrugged out of his embrace before grabbing his hand and tugging him to the two girls she once called best friends. "Caroline!" She called once they were in hearing distance. The blonde turned and smiled at Margo but scowled at Kol.

"Hey." The blonde greeted.

"Hey Margo." Elena greeted hopefully. She's given a lot of thought to what the human girl has said and realised that she is right. And she feels so bad.

"Elena." She nodded, giving the girl a slight smile.

"So, not that we don't want you here, actually we don't want him here," Carol started, a glare on her face as she pointed to Kol. "But what are you doing here? And where is Rebekah?"

Margo shot Caroline a really look before speaking, "We are here to help. And Rebekah is running an errand. She asked me to tell you." She paused, debating on whether to say anything else. She looked around and smiled as she spotted Jeremy and Matt. She hadn't seen the youngest Gilbert since he's been back.

"Jeremy!" She called, letting go Kol's hand and running towards one of her oldest friends that was just picking up some more stars to hang up on the ceiling. He looked up and dropped the stars when he saw who was running to him. The twin girl barreled into the male Gilbert.

"You're back." Margo said, smiling brightly as let go of him.

"Hey, Mango." He teased, gaining a glare from the girl, before sobering up. "Yeah, I am."

"Well, good. I missed you." One moment the human was in front of Jeremy and the next she was behind him. Her face practically in his back. He felt Jeremy nearly shaking with anger. Curious as to what could have him acting like this, she peered around his huge frame because she was to short to do otherwise.

The Donovan girl almost rolled her eyes when she saw Kol approaching them. He glared at Jeremy, "Give Margo back." He demanded, his tone low and quite frankly deadly.

"No way." Jeremy spat. Caroline and Elena approached the group with wide eyes as Matt stood next to them, worrying for his friends life as he knew how Kol got when someone tries and hurt Margo, Damon told him. And now Jeremy was trying to keep her away from the Original. He wasn't the smartest person in Mystic Falls, but he knew that Jeremy doing that was going to lead to a blood bath.

Luckily, Margo intervened. She stepped around Jeremy and quickly into Kol's arms before the Mikaelson could do anything. Kol wrapped his arms around Margo securely and tight enough that no one would be able to take her from him. "Mine." He grumbled lowly nuzzling his face in her neck, so lowly that not even Caroline caught if.

Eventually when she knew Kol was calm, she wanted to turn but the Original wouldn't budge. "Kol." She warned and he sighed before loosening his grip enough that she could turn around, to be faced with a surprised and clearly angry Jeremy.

"You're with him?" He asked, the word him coated in disgust. At that, Margo's eyes narrowed dangerously and she looked meaner and scarier that he's ever seen her.

"And this him you refer to with so much disgust, is my soulmate. So, if he leaves, so do I. And I'm not just talking about this hall." She told all of them calmly. She knows she just told everyone about her and Kol but it was going to come out sometime or another.

There was a deafening silence on the six of them. It was Caroline that recovered first, "Soulmates?!" She screeched loud enough for the whole of Virgina to hear. Margo looked back at Kol, worried that he would be mad at her for telling them but she was pleasantly surprised when she saw a grin on his face. Pride swelled in his chest, happy that everyone will now know that Margo Donovan is his.

"Yes, blondie, soulmates. Why is that so hard do grasp?" Kol asked, looking way more smug than usual.

"Because you're...you, and Margo is kind and good. And it just doesn't make sense." She spluttered, waving her hands, the one with the clipboard nearly hitting Matt in the face.

"Well, you know what they say, Caroline. Forces repel and opportunities attract." Margo said, smiling widely. Relief that everything is out in the open. She never liked secrets to being with. "And you?" The human asked, looking at her brother.

Matt looked at his twin, then at the Original in whose arms she is, "Don't hurt her." Was all he said before giving his sister a grin.

"Never." Kol promised honestly.

"Now, that it's all settled, where can we help out?" Margo asked, grinning widely and looking at the young vampire.

"Well, we need more stars. Kol can help with that if he'd like." She started, pointing to the ceiling. "And we also need to go and get table cloths for the snacks and punch tables. You can go and fetch that." The blonde said, pointing to Margo.

"Okay, we'll do it." The human girl nodded, wiggling in Kol's embrace until he let her go. He eventually did so with great reluctance.

Kol pouted, "But the whole point of me coming with you is us spending time together." Margo rolled her eyes but couldn't deny that she felt warm all over when Kol called them an 'us'.

"Fine, then we'll do it together." She said, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the gym and to the supply closet.

"Isn't this what modern day teenagers use to make out in?" The Original quipped with a suggestive smirk, referring to and pointing around the closet. Margo blushed a bright red as she once again thought of their kiss.

"Yes," She agreed slowly, careful not to give him any ideas but she had a feeling that he did that well on his own. "But get that idea out of your head because I'm not making out with you in a supply closet." She gave him a stern look before starting to look through the boxes for the table cloths.

"Not even if I ask pretty please?" He questioned, leaning against the wall and looking at his mates very nice behind.

"Nope. Not even them." Margo said, she promised herself long ago that she would never stoop that low. And here she was, barely hanging on to her promise to herself and all because of the much to tempting Mikaelson behind her. "Ah-ha!" She yelled in victory when she found the linens she was looking for. She was about to lift the box when it was lifted for her.

"Thanks, Kol." She beamed at him and said man felt ten feet tall. And all he had to do was pick up a box and if he gets to see her smile like that, he'd never stop picking up boxes. They walked back to the gym hall and headed to the tables that was bare.

"Do I get a reward for good behaviour?" The Original questioned his mate cheekily, gesturing to his lips. Margo shot him a sour look and shook her head. "Why not? This isn't the supply closet." His brows dipped in genuine confusion. Did she not like kissing him, like he liked kissing her?

"I'm not a fan of PDA." She told him, grabbing a table cloth out of the box.

"PDA?" The vampire asked as she opened the table cloth, looking adorable with his brows dipping deeper in confusion. He took one end to help her get it done quicker. The human stayed quiet as they worked and then only when she was beside him again she spoke.

"You know, public display of affection." She informed him and his eyes filled with realisation.

"Just this once?" He asked, looking in her eyes and giving her a smile. And that was when Margo Donovan knew she was in trouble. With a racing heart she looked around to see if anyone was watching and to her great displeasure she found several girls eye raping her soulmate.

That made what she was about to do so much easier. She stood on her tiptoes and braced herself by placing her hands on Kol's shoulders. Taking advantage of his surprise, she pulled him down to her level and kissed him.

It was a quick but no less toe-curling kiss than the first one was. It was also something else, she was marking her territory. Making it clear to all the girls in the gym that Kol Mikaelson was not available and if it was up to him and Margo, he never would be ever again.

And the Original couldn't be happier.
