"i didn't know that you were right in front of me, until i looked out."

THE weekend went by in a blur, free days spent cooped up inside their rooms alone, unable to hang out as Heeseung had a two-day training period due to having weeks without any scheduled games on the calendar.
When Monday came around, she headed to class quietly, settling into her seat with Heeseung to her right, resting at his own desk.
“Hey.” He let out quietly, as class had not yet started — short two minutes before it was scheduled to begin. Haewon hummed, a smile on her lips at the sight of the boy.
“Hello.” She greeted, adjusting her chair slightly. “How was your little training camp over the weekend?” The girl asked, raising a brow.
“Hmm? It was alright, nothing much. It was tiring because we were working on building stamina and agility. So, a lot of running drills.” Heeseung explained, pressing his lips into a thin line.
Haewon grimaced dramatically at his words, clicking her tongue as she let out a sigh and shook her head. “Oo, how fun.” She let out, tone laced with sarcasm.
He caught on to her sarcastic manner, a laugh falling from his lips as he rolled his eyes and nodded. “Oh, very.” He snickered, scrunching his nose up slightly.
“Basically, we'll have our normal practice days — Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays and then as an added day, Saturday. Some practices are going to be optional though.” Heeseung pointed out.
“But, our coach made it pretty clear that he wants to see us every one of those days regardless. We do have a few weeks without games, anyway. And our next competitive game will be the last one before we have a tournament.” He explained, tucking his lips into a thin line.
“Gosh, that's a busy schedule you've got there.” Haewon raised her brows in surprise, blinking slowly as she processed things in her head.
“It is. But, don't worry about it. Nothing I can't handle, of course.” Heeseung waved it off, a smile creeping up on his lips as she breathed out a small laugh and shook her head.
Just then, Mr. Byun entered the class, silencing all students and gaining their attention as he stood up straight, greeting the class as the class greeted him back.
“Alright, students, I'd like to make an announcement on behalf of the school management,” Mr. Byun began, eyes fixating down on the paper he held in his hands.
“Grades 12-11 will be going on a school trip together. This trip will take place in Jinhae, with transportation from a bus, where we will visit and stay at a camping ground.” He said, pausing to clear his throat.
“This will take place Friday to Monday. We will leave Friday morning, and come home Monday morning — with Saturday and Sunday in-between.” The teacher explained, his eyes skimming over his students.
“I will hand out paperwork regarding the details and the fee needed to go. At the end of the school day, please take this paper and show it to your legal guardian.” Mr. Byun stated, as he began to move through the class, passing out a paper to each student.
“You will need their signature, and will be required to show it tomorrow morning so we can then book it out. Thank you.” He concluded.

As class came to an end, Haewon stuffed all of her books — including the paper — into her backpack, pulling herself to her feet as Heeseung stood up alongside her.
“Haewon,” He called out, catching her attention as she lifted her head whilst she slipped her arms through the straps of her backpack. “Are you going?”
“Going where? On the trip?” Haewon asked, tilting her head off to the side as she waited for him to finish packing up his things.
“Yeah. Are you?” Heeseung raised a brow, zipping up his backpack and swinging it over his shoulders as they both began to exit the class.
“Mm, I think so, yeah. I know Miyeon is going with her boyfriend.” Haewon nodded, as Heeseung tilted his head.
“How do you know that? Miyeon isn't in this class.” He questioned, as the girl smiled and let out a small laugh.
“Miyeon and I have known about it for a little while now. Because we're required to make an extra announcement to go over all of the smaller details. Like, what all is required to go.” She admitted, as Heeseung raised his brows.
“Wow, and you didn't even tell me about it? I'm wounded.” He huffed out dramatically, as she snickered and shrugged.
“It was top secret information. I promised Miyeon I wouldn't tell anyone else. It's girl code. Or, just basic human decency, for that matter. You make a promise, you gotta keep it.” Haewon mumbled, pursing her lips.
“Yeah, that's fair.” Heeseung hummed, holding onto the straps of his backpack as they prepared to exit out into the school halls.
“Anyway, what about you?” Haewon inquired, turning to look at him. “Are you going?”
“If you are, then yeah, I guess I am. Can't miss out on all of the fun.” The boy nodded, nudging her shoulder lightly as she chuckled.
“What about your practices, hm? You're gonna skip them?” The girl asked, tilting her head.
“I'll only miss two practices, it'll be fine. And our coach should understand, anyway. There's a bunch of seniors, like myself, on our team that surely wouldn't wanna miss the last high school trip they’d be able to experience.” Heeseung let out, as the girl nodded.
“Yeah, that's true.” The girl nodded her head, content with the way things were going as of late.
“Are the freshmen and sophomores getting a trip? Or is it just for seniors and juniors? I'm curious, because I wonder if Sunoo, Jungwon and Riki will get to do anything.” The boy asked, tilting his head.
“Hm? Oh, yeah, of course. Grades 10-9 will be getting their own separate trip — I think they're going to a different camping site. But, yeah.” Haewon confirmed, as Heeseung hummed in return.
“Ahh, okay, good. I was a bit worried because I'd feel bad if all of us just left the three of them whilst they didn't get to do anything.” He expressed, walking close at her side as she nodded in agreement.
“I get it. But luckily, they're getting to go somewhere too. So, no worries.” Haewon waved off, as Heeseung nodded.
Once they had reached her locker, Heeseung paused in front of her momentarily.
“Will you be here later tonight? Or are you going straight home?” He asked, tilting his head off to the side.
“Tonight? I, mm.. I don't know. I think I might be in the club room later after school with Miyeon. But, I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to ask her about it.” The girl replied, as she opened her locker.
“If you are, let me walk you home. I have practice tonight, so come to the field if you're still here.” Heeseung requested, as she tilted her head.
“You don't have to walk me home, Hee.” Haewon pointed out, turning her whole body to face him, giving him undivided attention.
“That doesn't change the fact that I want to.” He let out, a doe-eyed gaze settling onto hers, holding eye contact as she cleared her throat as looked away, cheeks burning pink for a reason she felt strange admitting to herself.
“Alright. I'll come to the soccer fields if I'm still here.” She agreed, a bubble of feelings settling in the pit of her stomach, as her heart fluttered slightly.
“And if you don't, then you have my pager. Contact me if you go home alone so I don't worry. And also, let me know you got home safe.” Heeseung said, as she hummed and nodded her head.
“Okay.” The girl muttered, as she began to replace books in her locker.
“Haewon,” Heeseung said, her name slipping past his lips in order to grasp at her attention.
Haewon hummed in return. She went to turn her head, and in the process, his lips were pressed to her cheek softly, as her eyes widened slightly and her skin flushed a noticeable pink shade.
“I'll talk to you later. Gotta go to my locker before it's too late.” He chuckled, wearing a winsome smile as she could only hum and nod, her hand raising slightly to wave at him as he parted ways.
The girl sighed deeply, pressing the palm of her hand to her forehead as she bit down on her bottom lip, unable to help the constant flutter in her heart.
Seong Haewon knew what was happening, but was too scared to admit it to herself. She was unsure if it was true, if it was real.
And, to take such chances, created a heavy worry that resided in her mind.
