ONE in the morning, she stared up at the ceiling, eyes adjusted to the darkness as the moon lit up her bedroom. Her fingers drummed against her stomach, humming quietly to herself to drown out the noise of yet another meaningless argument.

Seong Haewon felt completely restless, having given up on sleep itself many days ago. Although being warned by Lee Heeseung himself to get proper rest and to not rely on caffeine to function, it seemed as if that was the only solution at the moment.

With deep thought, Haewon fell silent, tired eyes flickering between the ceiling and the bedroom door, of which was closed tightly.

The girl pulled herself up to sit on her bed, rubbing her eyes as she pushed her hair out of her face, brown strands falling over her shoulders.

Sniffling quietly, she pulled her blanket off of her body, swinging her legs over the edge of her bed and standing up. Her footsteps were light, wincing slightly as her bare feet hit the cold floor.

Insanity almost seemed close, not being able to stand another second listening to her parents' dispute bounce off the walls and lead back to her room.

Haewon slid the door to her closet open, fingers wrapped around the handle to the drawer settled inside as she pulled out a pair of socks, slipping them over her bare feet - not bothering to change out of her pajamas due to the late hour.

With a gentle sigh, she leaned down to grab the pair of shoes tucked away in the corner of her closet, slipping them on with ease and tightening the laces.

Sneaking out was something she surprisingly didn't do often, as she would spend her time cooped up in her bedroom to pass time and be alone.

But, in times she desperately needed an escape, she would result in leaving out the window in her bedroom.

Pushing the window open, a small breeze blew through, fanning against her exposed skin as she pressed her lips into a thin line, hoisting one of her legs out the window as she adjusted her position slightly.

Being on the second story of her home, many would assume it was hard and extremely dangerous to be leaving through such a way.

But, her window opened up and was settled above a shorter flattened roof - meaning she could slip in and out without much chance of injuring herself.

The girl lowered herself onto the concrete roof with a huff, her hair pushed back by the wind as she blinked slightly, eyes wandering around warily before carrying herself across the rooftop until getting to the edge.

Sitting down at the edge, she leaned her arms back, nodding her bodyweight up on her palms as she carefully lowered her left leg until it came into contact with the fence at the side of the family home.

A few minutes later, she finally made it onto the street, walking along the quiet and dark road alone, accompanied by none other than the sound of the leaves on trees swaying with the breeze, and the inescapable noisiness of her thoughts.

_____________

Stirred awake from his slumber by the repetitive tapping against his window, Lee Heeseung peeled his eyes open, in a state of drowsiness and confusion as he rolled over to lay on his back.

His head was turned towards his window as he tried to make sense of what was going on. It wasn't until that familiar tap hit against his windows did he realize pebbles were being thrown in hopes to catch his attention.

Heeseung sat up in bed quickly and pulled himself to stand up, trudging quietly and hurriedly towards the window as he drew his blinds up.

His gaze settled on her figure in the street as he waved at her, unlocking his window and pushing it open as he leaned up against it.

"What are you doing here?" He whisper-shouted, brows furrowed as he stared confusedly at her. Just as she was about to speak, he cut her off quickly, shaking his head.

"Nevermind, hold that thought. I'll let you in from the front." He called out, as the girl quickly closed her mouth, lips pressed into a thin line as she nodded.

Heeseung carried himself quietly out of his room and downstairs, careful not to wake his parents as he unlocked the front door and pulled it open, waiting for her to come inside.

As soon as she was in the comfort of his home, Heeseung stayed silent as he waited for her to slip her shoes off, watching as she picked both of the sneakers up from the floor before he took her freehand, pulling her along with him upstairs and to his room.

Closing his bedroom door, Heeseung sighed quietly as he spoke to her in a hushed tone, watching as she sat down on the edge of his bed.

Her hands settled in her lap, fidgeting with her fingers as she looked down.

"What happened?" He asked, moving to sit down beside her as he continued. "You look exhausted."

"I am." Haewon huffed out, brows furrowed tightly as the boy sighed, walking to stand in front of her.

His arms extended outwards, hands wrapping around hers as he pulled her to stand before him, arms wrapping comfortably and securely around her waist as he pulled her closer in his embrace.

"Don't think I can't see those tears, Hae." Heeseung whispered, taking notice of her glossy eyes of which she tried to hide by keeping her head hung low and desperately blinking away her tears.

The girl sniffled, feeling uncomfortable being seen in such a vulnerable state of mind as she wrapped her arms around his taller frame.

She leaned against him, her forehead pressed against his chest as her eyes fluttered shut, tears caught in her long eyelashes.

"What's the matter, hm?" He asked, tracing small, imaginary circles on her back as he listened to the sound of her hushed breaths.

"Stress." She replied plainly, biting down on her bottom lip as the boy chuckled dryly and hummed.

"I can see that." He let out, attempting to brighten her mood as his gaze drifted over to the clock on his wall, reading the time to be a quarter past one.

"Wanna talk about it?" He asked, pulling away from the hug just enough to tilt his chin down to look at her, watching as she shook her head hurriedly, bringing her hand up to wipe her tears.

"No? Okay. That's okay." Heeseung acknowledged, leaning down to press a feathering kiss to the crown of her head. "Is there anything I can do to help you?"

Haewon pressed her lips into a thin line, about to shake her head when she thought of something. Though, guilt settled into the pit of her stomach. Yet, she voiced it out regardless.

"Wine?" She uttered, the thought of losing herself in a drunk state as if to forget the harsh reality brought to her seemed strangely nice.

"Wine? Are you sure?" Heeseung furrowed his brows, eyes narrowing as she nodded her head hesitantly in response to his concern.

"Haewon, just- I can do that for you. But, please remember that drinking alcohol and getting drunk will not solve your issues. When you sober up, it's still going to be there, waiting for you until you face it." Heeseung reminded, crossing his arms over his chest.

"I know. I've already come to terms with that." Haewon hummed, fiddling with the hem of the T-shirt she was wearing.

"Rooftop?" He tilted his head, as the girl nodded slightly as he gave her a vague smile, taking a small breath. "Go on up. I'll be right there." He said, patting her shoulder as he brushed past her.
