THE hallways were slightly crowded, as she walked around with her earbuds in, music playing quietly from them. Her left hand held onto the strap of her backpack whilst the other crept up, running fingers through her hair of which fell over her shoulders.
It wasn't until she was shoved slightly by a shoulder, did she pause and turn around, coming face to face with the familiar face as her face went from confusion to slight frustration.
"What's your problem, Seong?" Kim Miyoung scoffed, feet carrying herself closer to the girl as she wore a scowling expression.
"Nothing. I didn't do anything." Haewon sighed out, running her hand over her face as she blinked slowly, remaining unfazed as she kept her composure.
"You bumped into me. On purpose, too." Miyoung wrongly accused, tone of voice condescending as she reached her hand out to place on Haewon's shoulder, using it to forcefully push her back.
"Kim Miyoung, I don't care nor do I have the time for this. Please actually find something better to do with your life than make mine miserable." Haewon huffed.
Her fingers carefully wrapped around Miyoung's wrist, pulling it away from her shoulder as the girl gasped dramatically, expression changing to one of anger.
"Seong Haewon just put her hands on me! Oh my god!" Miyoung exclaimed, as Haewon furrowed her brows and frowned, biting down on her bottom lip.
The few people who walked through the halls turned heads at the commotion, faces etching with curiosity and confusion.
"Miyoung, please, stop. I didn't do anything." Haewon mumbled, aware that she could get wrongly accused of something she didn't do, resulting in punishment from the school itself.
However, a certain person watched with furrowed brows, eyes narrowed slightly as he closed his locker.
With lips pressed tightly together, he wandered over to the two girls, his hand placed gently around Haewon's forearm, pulling her back before releasing his grasp around her as he stepped in-between her and Miyoung.
"Kim Miyoung, is it?" Park Sunghoon spoke, tilting his head off to the side slightly before continuing.
"I'm not one to intrude on others' situations, but Seong Haewon did nothing wrong. It was you who bumped into her in the first place." He pointed out, eyes flickering between the two girls.
"I think it's wrong to accuse her of something she's so clearly innocent of." The boy added on calmly, trying his best to be respectful of the girl as she was in the grade above himself.
Miyoung's sharpened gaze faltered, taken back by the sudden interruption before clearing her throat and composing herself.
"What do you know, Park Sunghoon? You clearly didn't see it at all." Miyoung scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Actually, my locker is just over there." Sunghoon pointed out, gesturing towards the locker just across the hallway. "I saw everything pretty clearly from there."
Haewon raised her brows slightly in surprise, a vague smile creeping up onto her lips as she watched everything unfold.
"Also, it's really immature on your part to act as if she laid her hands on you with ill intent. Please stop painting my friend here as the villain, when she was simply minding her own business." He sighed out, raising a brow towards Kim Miyoung before continuing.
"This is an average, everyday high school. If you wish to pursue acting, there are plenty of schools that offer that type of education all across Korea." Park Sunghoon concluded, bowing his head lightly.
Miyoung clenched her jaw, rolling her eyes as she scoffed, not saying another word as she brushed past them, her walking pace fast as she stormed through the hallway.
"Jeez, what's her problem?" Sunghoon mumbled, shoulders slumping as he held onto his backpack, a sigh of relief falling past his lips.
"I'm still figuring that out myself." Haewon huffed out a laugh, beginning to walk alongside the boy as she popped her earbuds out, wrapping up the wire as she shoved it into her side pocket.
"But, thank you for the help. I never knew you were someone so.. good with words? I don't even know how to explain that." Haewon let out, turning her head to look at the younger boy.
"To be honest, I didn't know either. I had no idea I had that in me. But hey, I'm glad it worked." Sunghoon smiled softly, shrugging.
"Plus, I think Heeseung would probably kill me if he ever found out I saw something like that happening and didn't bother to help defuse the situation." The Park boy added, humming quietly.
Haewon chuckled at the mention of her best friend, head gently shaking side to side as she folded her arms over her chest comfortably.
"You wanna know what I think?" Haewon raised a brow, perking up as Sunghoon tilted his head and nodded in response.
"I think it's a bit unfair to be expected to help me all the time just because you see something like that. I think Heeseung is just a bit too overprotective in that sense." Haewon stated, pursing her lips.
"I appreciate the help, but I can handle things alone sometimes too. I'm very much capable of it." The girl said, as Sunghoon hummed in understanding.
"Yeah, I get it. But, I don't think it's necessarily over protective. I mean, you mean a lot to him- to all of us. It's only natural as friends, that we all would want to help you with something like that. Especially if your problem is yelling false accusations in front of people like that." Sunghoon rolled his eyes at the thought of the older girl, shaking his head.
"Fair enough." Haewon sighed, brushing it off.
The two walked in silence for a brief moment before the girl spoke up again, narrowing her eyes slightly.
"You know," Haewon began, "It's been ages since I've actually seen and talked to you."
"It has, hasn't it?" Sunghoon chuckled, his dimples on display. "I feel like I see you around often, but never actually talk."
"Hmm, yeah, we're a bit busy, aren't we?" Haewon hummed, raising her brows slightly as the boy nodded in agreement.
"Very." Sunghoon breathed out, adjusting the pair of rectangular specs he wore.
"Hey, do you wanna eat lunch with Heeseung and I? I mean, that's where I'm on my way to go, anyway." Haewon offered, tone sweet and questioning.
"I don't see why I'd ever decline in the first place." Sunghoon chuckled, nodding cheerfully.
"I have economics after lunch, so I usually eat on the other side of the school because it's closer to the classroom." Sunghoon explained, gesturing behind them.
"Oh, really?" Haewon uttered, pressing her lips into a thin line. "We're not making it harder for you, are we?"
"Huh? Oh, no. Not at all. There's plenty of time between periods. I always end up getting there earlier than I need to be, so this isn't any type of inconvenience." Sunghoon denied, waving it off.
"Ah, I see. Just making sure." The girl shrugged, gaze shifting forward as she leaned her weight up against the doors, a light breeze blowing against them as they stepped outside into the noon air.
