In Chapter 5~

"I WANNA... I WANNA SLEEP WITH YOU Y/N-CHAN!!" Zenitsu yelled.

"You... wanna sleep with me?" Y/n repeated as she raised an eyebrow.

Zenitsu flushed red as he nodded his head violently.

"Um...," Y/n pondered in her own thoughts for a while and the three boys anxiously waited for her answer. "You know what... I'll sleep outside,"

"Y/n-san!! Noooo!!"

*CREAK*

A sudden creak brought their attention to the box Tanjirou always carried around.

"AH!!!" Zenitsu screamed. "It's... IT'S A...-,"

"It's... Tanjirou...," Zenitsu muttered seriously as sparks of lightning surrounded him. "Listen to me... Demon Slayer Corps is not something you'd join for fun! Guys like you gotta be purged! IMMEDIATELY!!" 

Y/n tilted her head as she studied the small girl who was starting to run away from Zenitsu's pervy behaviour. 

"Zenitsu! Stop following her already!" Tanjirou shouted as he blocked Zenitsu's way, stepping in front of the girl. 

"Zenitsu," Y/n muttered out softly. "Stop... this is harassment,"

"H-Harassment?" Zenitsu stuttered as he freezed on the spot. 

Y/n nodded her head along with Tanjirou who had started to gently move the young girl behind her. 

"Is this...  girl... your sister?" Y/n asked tilting her head. She stared into the innocent pale-pink eyes of the young girl. 

"Ano... Y/n-san?" Tanjirou called out to her slightly becoming scared of the staring. "Is... Is something wrong?" 

"...Cute," Y/n muttered out as she rested her right hand on the girls long black hair that faded to a flame orange. "Her name?" 

"Ah! Its Nezuko," Tanjirou answered as he softly smiled at the sight of his sister nuzzling into Y/n's hand. 

"Nezuko-chan!" Zenitsu repeated before blushing. "Nezuko-chan is really really cute~" 

Y/n nodded her head in agreement before her eyes downcasted. "How unfortunate...," 

"About what?" Tanjirou asked. 

"That she is a demon," Y/n said her eyes looking up to meet Tanjirou's glistening orbs. "What happened?" She asked ever so gently.

Tanjirou stayed silent for a second. But before he knew it he was explained the whole story... about his family's death... how his sister was the only one who's body temperature was still warm... how she turned into a demon... how a man showed up and almost tried to kill his sister... how the man helped him... 

...

'how hard it was'

Tanjirou felt like the story was a blur to him, his eyes couldn't focus on anything... more like everything was white in his eyes. When he finished, he took deep breaths and he thought he was finally able to breathe again. His blurred vision seemed to finally be able to focus and the first image brought subtle tears to his eyes...

 Y/n was smiling affectionately towards him, her eyes slightly squinted and her pale skin shined a slight orange due to the rooms light. She was breathtaking.

"It must have been hard," 

And with those words the tears started to fall... Zenitsu looked at his friend with empathy. He had no idea that Tanjirou had gone through all that and was still able to smile like the world was full of nothing but sunshine. 

Y/n stared at the heavy tears that contained so much emotion, they slid on Tanjirou's skin before hitting the mat. Her smooth hands reached out and wiped them, caressing his face along the way.

'Her hands are warm,' Tanjirou thought before letting out another sob. 

Y/n squinted her eyes, this time not with affection but with pain. 

'He didn't even complain how hard and fatigued he was..,' She thought before clasping the boy into her arms. She felt his arms wrap themselves on her waist, clinging onto the fabric like they were the only two in the world. Y/n gazed at Nezuko who had started to pat her brother on the back before she let out a muffled yelp as Y/n had also embraced her. She then softly started to pat them on the back.

The moment was perfect until they heard Inosuke's snores that they had recently ignored but they grew louder and louder. Tanjirou let out a stifled laugh as he unwrapped his arms and wiped off the rest of his tears. 

"Thank you Y/n-san," He smiled before being glomped by Zenitsu. 

"I didn't knowww!~" Zenitsu wailed loudly. 

"Hush," Y/n scolded him. "It's night you know," 

"Tanjirou!" Zenitsu whined a bit more silently. 

"Stop! Zenitsu!" Tanjirou tried to escape Zenitsu's grasp only to be pulled back again.

Y/n smiled as she looked at the three boys fast asleep. She let out a small giggle before fixing Inosuke's posture before snuggling him with his blanket. The other two were sleeping... together after Tanjirou's futile attempts to get rid of Zenitsu's grasp they had fallen asleep with Zenitsu clinging onto Tanjirou like a baby koala. Y/n unwrapped Zenitsu's arms off before gently laying him in his own futon before once again putting the covers over him. She turned to look at Tanjirou who already looked 100 times more peaceful before also checking on his little sister who seemed to have doze off. She nodded at her work slightly proud before she walked outside. 

The cool air seemed to have calmed her because she let out a deep breath of relief. She... felt somewhat relaxed and free so she sat on the edge of the wooden platform before resting her feet on the dark green grass. There was never a time where she could have properly relaxed... She looked up to see the moon and stars twinkling above her and for once... the world wasn't as suffocating as it was for her life. 

A creak of the door sliding caught her attention as she slightly turned her head backwards. 

"...Nezuko?"

The small girl bounced hesitantly towards her direction before sitting next to her. Her legs dangling as she began humming. (Nezuko is so cutee) 

Y/n titled her head before she seemingly huffed out a smile. The small girl moved slightly closer to her direction so Y/n wrapped her arms around the girl once more, her coat covering them both as the girl was now sitting on her lap. Nezuko let out a happy hum before she began dozing off once more. 

Y/n then finally started to doze off, her arms wrapped around the petite girl embracing her warmth from the cool crisp air.
