Chapter 3

"Welcome to Milton High!" Was my first greeting of the day. The secretary cheerfully greeted me, and continued to pass me my schedule.

I nodded towards her not bothering to thank her. It's not like I want to be here anyways.

"Ok well I guess that's all" she noted. She awkwardly went back to her computer typing away.

I stayed at my spot in front of her desk, waiting for her to realize what she missed. I let out a tiny cough, showing my impatience.

The secretary took in a deep breath of frustration and looked back at me. "Yes?" She asked, her tone holding annoyance yet she tried to cover it away with a fake smile.

"How about a locker?" I asked matching her tone, except I didn't try covering it.

The secretary let a blush creep her cheeks from embarrassment. She hurriedly handed me another sheet of paper. A locker number and combination. Finally.

"Thank you" I said before walking out of the office.

Luckily the halls were not filled with the whole population so I was able to quickly search for my locker.

231... No

232...Not yet

233...Bingo

Grabbing the lock on the locker I began spinning the combination.

12-34-5

The lock made a tiny click, signalling me I was able to go in.

"So you're the new girl I presume" A voice chirped beside me.

"Depends who's asking" I replied, not looking in the speakers direction.

I heard a locker shut beside me "You know it's rude to talk to someone and not look at them"

I shrugged "I never really cared for politeness"

I finished putting everything in my locker and only took the books I would need for my first period.

"Honesty that's a start" Annoyingly, I turned to the direction of the speaker. There stood in front of me was a guy. A hot looking guy might I add but that's besides the point.

I looked him straight in the eyes "Is there something I can help you with? Or are you just planning on wasting my time"

He grabbed his books from the locker beside me, which I was guessing was his.

"No just wanting to catch the beautiful girl eyes before anyone else"

I gave him a flat look "Is that the best you can do"

He steered the conversation in a different direction "How about a name for a start"

"Iris Smith" I replied before walking in the direction of my class.

The guy started following me "Beautiful name for a beautiful girl" he chirped "My name is Jake Holland"

"Cool"

"Wow you don't like to socialize I presume" He noted as we both walked down the halls to my new boring school which I hope I don't have to stay here that long.

"No" I started "I just don't like people who waste my time"

Jake put his hand on his chest, over his heart. "Geez Iris. We just met and you're killing me already"

I shook my head "Not fast enough apparently"

Jake was going to protest when we were cut off by loud cheering.

"Another fight!" Jake cheered.

"A fight?" Don't get me wrong I know what a fight is. I just didn't think this school would have so many fights. And I guess they do considering the fact he said 'another fight'.

Jake nodded his head "Yes I'll show you!" He grabbed my hand and led me to the huge crowd that was circled around two fighters.

"I'll try to get us closer" he said. When I didn't protest he pulled me through the large crowd until we were in the front, where I was able to make the figures out.

I watched as two guys continued to throw punches. Actually, one kept throwing punches to the other on the floor.

"Come on Max! Get up!" The guy yelled to the one on the floor. However Max stayed on the ground.

The max person looked kind of familiar to me for some reason, I just couldn't place it together. What did catch my eyes was that he was bleeding and looked pretty bruised.

The other guy wouldn't stop throwing punches at him though.

"Max you're such a wimp." Many guys laughed at this, including Jake beside me. I take this beating up Max was a regular thing.

For some reason this fight made me angry, usually when I watch fights of I'm apart of them they made me a happy. This was different somehow. I felt protective. The need to go in and stop it.

So what did I do, I stopped it.

"What are you doing?" Jake asked trying to grab ahold of me to stop me. He managed to grab ahold of my arm, which I released by stomping on his foot, looks like I broke that friendship. Not like I cared for it anyways.

Once I reached the inner circle I heard many protests. I only shrugged them off as I stood in front of the fighter.

"Sorry little girl but you need to get out" I stayed in my spot starring up to him. The whole crowd went silent. So silent that you could hear a pin drop.

"I said to move" I didn't budge. The guy grew frustrated and pulled me to the side. He went to throw another punch at Max. But I'm going to say he didn't get that far.

With his arm he was punching with. I grabbed a hold of it, stopping him in mid air.

"I wouldn't do that" I spoke darkly. My voice echoed through the halls filling in the empty silence.

"And who's going to stop me. A little girl like you?" Let's just say, I don't appreciate being called a little girl. Even because I more of a man than him.

Retracting my arm I threw a right hook, impacting his jaw. He stumbled back a few steps while holding his jaw.

When he was back in my reach, I continued to square punch him, making the already formed bruise worse and worse. When I got his back leg angle. I threw a solid kick to his back leg, causing him to limp forward and hitting face forward to the ground.

I don't know why he didn't just fight me back. Maybe because I was a girl or maybe he was just too shocked that I was a girl. I didn't care, I always loved a good fight. Especially when I'm winning, which is always.

The guy I beat up to pulp scattered away along with the crowd close behind. The only people in the halls was Me, Max and Jake who stood there with shock and excitement.

"Coolest new girl ever!" He cheered and began to run after the crowd.

Ignoring him, I turned my gaze to the floor. Where a wide eyes Max stood looking up at me.

I pulled out my hand signalling him to take it which he did. I pulled him up. And in seconds he stood in front of me, standing a two inches taller than me.

For some reason the time felt like it stopped as I watched him curiously. He watched me with the same gaze. Then recognization shone threw his eyes.

"Iris?"
