Red Eye gaped at the atrocious behaviour of this girl he had only just met this morning. He never knew that she could've been like this but he knew it was her when he checked his back pocket to find that it was empty and he couldn't help the twitching in his eye, "MY WALLE- MY MONEY~!!!"
You couldn't help giggling, holding the wallet out before you to get a warm bento from the vending machine on the side of the road, you glanced up at the Pagoda and almost laughed aloud when just imagining the face Red Eye must be pulling at this moment, he was probably watching you as well.
A ¥20 note was placed into the vending machine as the button was pressed for a teriyaki chicken and rice bento. You flipped open the tray to grab the plastic container, reveling in the warmth it brought when drool slowly built up in your mouth. You held the lunch close to your chest with a smile to walk back to the building where the owner of the wallet you held was located, walking around a corner to go through a dark alley and just as you made it to the corner to enter the Pagoda, a voice stopped you, "He- Hey!"
The bento was almost dropped as the voice registered in your mind automatically as soon as their voice was heard. You wanted to stop and turn around, smile and say something ridiculous. You were really tempted to but to keep from being suspicious, you had forced your feet to continue as you ignored your heart to follow your mind where it lead to the Pagoda at a back entrance, "(Y/N)..?"
Red Eye, who had been on the ground floor with a scowl, paced in circles mumbling curses to himself. He had left his weapon atop the roof of the Japanese building and waited until he heard something or noticed your entrance but he stopped, listening intently when he heard your name being called by a male voice with an unsure tone. He walked closer to the doorway and looked to see a shadow on the ground, a smaller feminine figure.
Your hands were tightening around the packed lunch and your mind was void of anything comprehensible, "What'd you find, Muramatsu?"
Red Eye caught sight of your foot as you neared him but he didn't understand why your eyes looked so petrified as if you had seen or done something absolutely horrible. His eyebrows scrunched up on his forehead and he took it upon himself to act on impulse when he heard two more voices from the other end of the alley way. You kept going, your feet lifting, moving forward and landing on the ground again slowly, as if done in cautious precision though your mouth held a grim line, eyes beginning to line with tears though they stayed on your eyelids, "I-I thought I sa-saw.."
Muramatsu was troubled to begin with. He didn't want to make a mistake and give false hopes to his classmates if he was wrong but he was sure that he saw this girl he noticed had to be you - (L/N) (Y/N). He swore he had noticed that particular shade of (H/C) even if your body figure was a little different but not so that it was unrecognisable. He didn't want to say the name out loud - well, really he did but he was afraid that he might be wrong, having mistakenly called a stranger by the name of a girl his friends and himself all knew so well. He was also fearful of the thought that he may be correct because you were supposed to be in a hospital otherwise the class had to have been informed of your recovery, "..I thought I saw (Y-" He had turned his body to face Yoshida and Hara, pointing over to your back awkwardly before a male voice startled him,
"What do you want with my girlfriend?!"
Red Eye had wrapped an arm around your waist from behind and kept your face hidden from the students. At the sound of another voice, Terasaka had stepped around the corner to obverse the commotion, "What's going on?"
Red Eye kept his eyes on the four boys with a straight face, staring at the way Terasaka spoke with an aggressive-looking face when he looked at Muramatsu for answers. Your heart rate skyrocketed through the roof at the sound of Ryoma's rough voice and you were so ready to slip under Red Eye's arm to run at the boy, jumping onto him to hug him and then force him to give you a piggy back ride.
You didn't though and you let Red Eye conceal yourself into his side, "I thought....," He shook his head slowly, "I-It doesn't matter.. It couldn't have been her.." The way Takuya's voice almost cracked, how he spoke so lowly was painful and Kirara came by to lean against the wall, boring her eyes into the pair at the other end of the alley tediously, "Aren't you a little old for her, are you a pervert?"
Her lazy tone almost caused you to choke, holding in a smile when you tensed beside a frozen assassin, "N-NO! I-I'm not a pe-PERVERT!"
"Sounds like something a pervert would say."
"Yeah pervert what are you doing with a small girl like that?"
Their nonchalant tones struck a nerve and a tear left your eye forcing your legs to run right into the entrance of the Pagoda with your arms covering your face. You had ran straight upstairs to hide, furiously wiping the tears away when a painfully large smile took over your face, laughing to yourself for feeling so hopeless.
"I'M NOT A PERVERT! ARGGHHHHHHH!"
Sighing, hours had past and you traveled through some alleys as you had known that those five students had left long ago but you were a little irritated with yourself to do much of anything about it. Earlier, Red Eye had grabbed his drag bag with the sniper inside and walked back out to give you some space but now he had enough. He had enough of trying to figure out who you were because of the way those teenagers were speaking and acting. He had enough of trying to kill a target that wasn't killable.
The darkness in the night brought a nice feeling upon your shoulders though you couldn't help the nagging feeling that made you believe that someone was watching you or following you. Screams and really loud gaming audios were heard on one end of the street in an arcade, when you noticed a hooded man standing, leaning against a wall in the alley. He was looking up at nothing, possibly thinking and once he heard your footsteps, he straightened up to take a breath, "Who are you really? To these people I mean. And what the hell is with your teacher!"
The light atmosphere felt welcoming as you leaned against the wall of the alley with a dim light shining on the wall opposite of you, "He's my teacher at school.."
"But- Jeez! I mean, his speed is insane, his defence in impregnable and it's like he was made with the sole purpose of being unkillable!"
Red Eye stopped at the sound of a melodious laughter, it was light and feathery though it also sounded strained as if the owner of this laughter had been crying, he knew you had but he didn't want to pry on something like that, "Well his name is Koro-sensei for a reason.."
"Wait, you sound as if you named him?" A smirk appeared, a weary one, "That bastard didn't even have a name; or he did but he wouldn't share it while he was announcing that the end of the Earth would be because of him. Kayan-.. My friend came up with the name because no one could even touch him."
"Except you, right?" He had perked up, moving his body to the side so his complete attention was on you, "Ah- yeah I mean, only a couple of time I have. I'm not exactly at my greatest right now either so I should thank you for the opportunity to shoot that gross octopus."
He didn't know what to say - or really, he didn't know what he wanted to ask when he had so many questions, he slowly breathed out, "Why do you talk as if you're so close to him and those kids?"
Sugino, Kayano and Manami stood around Kanzaki in the local arcade as the raven-haired girl had been playing on a game, her hand grasping the joystick as her other hand pressed the four multicoloured buttons with a great speed, resembling a professional gamer. Sugino's eyes glowed when he opened his mouth as Kanzaki's eyes; along with her concentration, never strayed from the screen, "Look at the way she handles the joystick, smiling like it's no big deal!"
Manami smiled along with Kayano, "Wow, I mean who knew you'd turn out to be such a video game pro?" Kanzaki smiled gratefully and almost bashfully when her game score only increased as she opened her mouth, multitasking amazingly.
Red Eye and (Y/N) departed shortly after, leaving his last question unanswered when he thought he had asked something beyond his boundaries. She walked back into the darkness and followed a back street, passing by a certain arcade to look inside but she kept walking.
"I kept it a secret since my family is super strict and they don't approve of me wasting my time on stuff like this. Lately, though, I think I'm over caring so much about what they think - well, what anybody thinks really." Yukiko thought back to her teacher after she had realised that it was all about doing the best with what you have. Sugino reveled in the smile that grew wider on her face, "Besides I used to have a lot of fun at an arcade in Tokyo.."
--
She wore different clothing, it felt nerve-rattling but it felt right, Yukiko felt comfortable and she entered the arcade quietly, her feet taking her to each gaming device to test the waters before she found a favourite. And she had. It was an older game, with less pixels in the screen with a small red joystick that rotated three hundred and sixty degrees with four buttons; blue, red, green and yellow, beside the joystick. Kanzaki put a token in and played, playing again and again as the patterns grew slightly more predictable each time with the colours and sounds becoming louder, drawing her to play more.
"Waah~ Kanzaki-chan!?"
--
"In Tokyo? Did you play with your friends?" Kayano queried quickly, Kanzaki shook her head slightly and felt joy when thousands of points were added to her score as her fingers moved on their own, "(Y/N) found me. She played with me as well- I had so much fun."
Sugino scratched the back of his head, smiling shortly, "Woah, (Y/N)? I can't imagine her gaming..-" He looked over to see Kayano, watching her glance at him and then Kanzaki with an obvious look, "B-But then again- I didn't know you played these either, but is she good at it like you?"
--
(Y-Y/N)-san! I-I didn't know you came here - I was just looking-.."
She grew flustered and looked down as the smirk grew on her classmates face, her arms folded over her chest with a condescending look, "Kanzaki-chan, I thought you'd be studying. Are you picking up your little brother or something like that?"
At that chance, Kanzaki nodded eagerly, hoping that she wouldn't be found out and especially not by the girl before her who was amazingly terrifying in her manipulative ways, "That's right, I-"
"Liar~!" She had pointed a finger right towards the kind girl and grinned, laughing as she dragged her words, "You're here to play, come with me- I'll make sure there's no lines for you!"
--
"She was horrible actually." Manami stood straighter, surprised to hear that when Yukiko shook her head helplessly, Sugino leaning against the seat that Kanzaki had been in to listen as Kayano sat on the seat of the empty arcade game beside her. Kanzaki really liked to think about her times with you because of how much fun the two of you had. At first she was nervous because she didn't know what the arcade was like but it grew on her like mold on bread.
Initially, she wasn't sure about meeting you at the arcade to play whenever she was stressed or wanted a way out of her parents yelling, but it was as if you had gravitated her towards you whenever you were there, like there was a beacon upon your head that always called her to you. She came to play there a lot and often bet her own high score on a game she loved - the same one she was playing now.
"She was pretty terrible at all of the games but at first I wasn't sure if she knew that or not because (Y/N)-san was very enthusiastic when she was there. It was like she was always cheering me on, I thought it was funny because it was only a silly game but sometimes I like to think she was cheering me on because of how much my parents were against me going there."
"This sounds like a completely different (Y/N), right?" Sugino muttered with a sweat drop on the corner of his head, Manami giggled, "She was really different there but I think she knew because of how nervous I must have looked when I first walked in - she's much more observant than I thought. I liked to think that she was always overjoyed to see me, screaming my name because she knew how scared I really was." She looked down when her battleship was destroyed on the screen, her light voice almost unheard due to the gaming devices, "I didn't realise it until recently but (Y/N)-san was also giving me strength."
--
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!"
Kanzaki jumped at the scary voice from the girl before her, her back facing her as she couldn't see (Y/N)'s face that scared the little group of boys away from the game that Kanzaki had initially wanted to play, "Uhm (Y/N)-san, they were playing first.."
"It's fine! I don't have any tokens so I usually tell them to get off so I can have a go but I got two for us, play against me!"
Kanzaki wasn't sure but she then gave in, in slight fear of what the unpredictable girl would do in retaliation if she had rejected the offer, "Uh- okay, do you know how to play this one?"
"Oh please! I've been coming here wa~y before you! I'll smash you!" The two girls sat in the chairs and placed both arms on the board with the joystick and buttons, continuing the game that had been started by some younger boys who were too scared to object.
--
Sugino, Manami, Kayano sat around Kanzaki as she told her story of how she had gotten closer to the wild outcast in their class that made them all feel united and more caring towards each other. They never really mentioned it but they couldn't really deny it when Irina bitch-sensei spoke of how (Y/N) seemed like the big baby that had the entire class taking care of her, bringing them all together after hearing small stories about her.
Outside of the arcade, the spot where a teen girl had been standing, watching them, was now empty when she walked into the darkness to find somewhere to go or something to do.
Koro-sensei had found Red Eye though the assassin hadn't said anything about you just as he thought you'd want it. He spoke of how he was going to quit after realising how much he hadn't seen in his years because he was so focused on seeing red through the other side of his scope.
He didn't know where you had gone but he had to assume that you were safe for the sake of easing his worries. After speaking with that insane 'Koro-sensei' of yours, he understood the name when he sat before him eating tofu, how he blew the fried tofu repetitively to the point where Red Eye wanted to scream.
It never crossed his mind that you could have encountered some dangerous people at night in Kyoto when you had no idea where you were going. He never thought there could be a chance that you could be bloodied with a split lip and a bloody nose. Laying against a wall trying to get away desperately as your voice refused to cooperate when deep and empty huffs were escaping your mouth with tears and blood, drool and sweat mingling together down your face.
Your knees scraped against the pavement, red liquid splattering against the walls like small spurts of paint being flicked from a paint brush. Your arms were burning with a need to get away but they weren't nearly as strong enough. The perpetrators looked down at you condescendingly with a pernicious grin and blood-thirsty eyes.
Your hair was matted in the liquid and your fingers were shaking, ribs burning with bruising that you could already feel forming before the pain became to much.
--
Waaaaaaa~h! Kanzaki-chan, you're amazing! You beat me!"
