Nagisa was growing more breathless by the second. His legs wouldn't match the adrenaline speeding within him when he tried to catch up to his friend. He began to feel his skin grow hot despite the slight breeze pushing his clothing and his hair backwards. His legs began to hurt; the muscles in his calves and his thighs. His throat was hurting as the air harshly drew in and out without a thought as to accommodate to the speed that he ran, bringing as much oxygen that his heart could take around his entire body.
Nagisa wasn't a person with a lot of stamina so too much running could end up with him hurting himself but he was too decisive and too desperate to even stop for a couple of minutes to catch his breath. He could feel the distance between Karma and himself beginning to expand so he was frightful of getting left behind. They had both left, bolting out of the hospital to run through the streets, taking short cuts through back alleys and Karma led the blue-haired assassin back towards their school.
Karma didn't realise it but Nagisa had surely seen the smile upon his face in the reflections of windows they ran past. At first, he really believed that it was his imagination but he wasn't wrong after he'd seen it again. It was there and it was like a smile that Karma would get on his face whenever he saw something that made him happy and not a condescending smile but Nagisa also couldn't mistake the look of sheer alleviation in his golden, mercury eyes.
Karma could hear the thumping of his heart right in his ears, the wind brushing past just to alert him that he had to focus on what was before him. The air entered though his nose and out through the same way, his chest heaving with an intense and overwhelming desire to get back to his classroom. He knew you had to be there at the class on the mountain because he knew that's what Nagisa would've concluded as well. It only made sense that after awakening, you'd go back to see your classmates after Karma had learned how much you really cared about them in your own twisted ways. How much you affected them just with your presence.
Nagisa almost tripped multiple times over the curb and cars beeped at the two males for not properly adhering to the street laws when Karma hopped over the front of a car, Nagisa stiffly ran around it. People were walking by on the street, heading to their own destinations and Karma didn't care when he bumped right into civilians with Nagisa uttering a short, 'Sorry!' every few seconds, apologetically looking at them as he didn't stop. He couldn't lose sight of the red-haired student and he refused to stray behind, he knew you had to be at the classroom. He knew it because he thought he knew you well enough to know that after having spent so much time with you in class.
"K-Karma-!" Nagisa flailed awkwardly and huffed, "Come on Nagisa, we're almost there."
He huffed again due to the fact that their definitions of 'almost there' were clearly different. Karma wasn't puffing as much as the smaller boy, he was able to run more and go faster but the next challenge was getting up the mountain in one piece.
"Well if it isn't Karma and Nagi- Hey!" Both of them promptly ignored Seiji and dashed past the school building to go through the bushes. Hagiwara glared at their backs after being ignored but continued on his way back to class, the question as of why they had been running like that slowly drifting around his mind.
Karma used lower tree branches to propel himself further and over small plants while Nagisa ran around them when his body began to slowly decrease in speed and strength. He was really loud and his mouth was wide open to breath in and out desperately to aid to the pain of his lungs that were so close to becoming puke on the ground.
Karma didn't stop until he made it to the front door, sliding it open and racing through to open the next door to his classroom. It had been relatively loud with the banter and chatting inside but they slowly diminished as another student raced in to stop and almost faint beside Karma, "Ka-ah-ah- I can't bre--breath-dying-.."
"(Y/N) isn't in the hospital." Karma stated first, his eyes shining with an undefinable happiness. Nagisa drew in a large intake of air, stretching his chest out when his eyes caught the jaws of his classmates falling one by one and all at once simultaneously, "What?"
"No way!"
"ABOUT DAMN TIME!"
"(Y/N)-SAN~!!!"
The class was filled with noise again when Kayano cheered as Manami gasped in shock, disbelief being the first emotion to register. Terasaka smirked, smiling towards Yoshida and Muramatsu as well as Kirara when they cheered lowly. They hit each other on the back playfully in celebration when Terasaka grabbed Takuya's head in a choke hold as he laughed.
Sugino huffed out a nervous laugh, finally relieved to see the day that he heard those words while Isogai cheered when Maehara hugged him in joy, laughing together while Katoaka glowed from beside them, giggling at their eccentric actions beside Hinata and Kanzaki. Kimura chuckled, watching his classmates when Yada grinned with Kouki being grabbed by Sosuke; a cheer being emitted from his mouth at the thought of their friend coming back to their class.
Okajima smiled, thrusting his arms out to hug Kurahashi when she; shockingly, returned the hug when Fuwa, Hara and Hayami chortled neared each other to laugh at their friends, the amazing atmosphere hitting them like a ray of sunshine that finally cleared the storm.
Takebayashi smiled lowly with Chiba beside him, glad to have finally heard those words though he was still a little concerned on the whereabouts of their teacher when a yell was heard from Kayano, "Nakamura!"
They glanced over to see her, her face having gone still with no emotion, a pale face with wide blue eyes. They were open in shock, her mouth having gone slack when they all watched a single tear roll down her cheek and Karma couldn't help smiling, "Whe-" The blonde wiped away her tear and sucked in, "Where is she?"
To that, Karma tensed a little and Nagisa looked up at him, also having now noticed the absence of Koro-sensei, "Hey Koro's not back yet?"
"Why didn't you answer the question?" Nagisa stilled at the sound of her voice, it sounded harsh and cold, not having the energy to be disregarded, "I- We didn't see where she wa- we don't know but she's not in the hospital anymore."
Karma looked away from her empty stare just as a gust of wind flung open the window, Koro having appeared with a tint of blue and purple visible upon his face, "Koro! Did you know!? (Y/N) is out of the hospital! You have to find her!"
"This is the tallest that I recall, now what?" Itona thought it was ridiculous as he really had no idea what you were thinking but you just smiled back at him with that innocently, sickly sweet smile, "I want to go on the rooftop, you can go back to your daddy after that." He tightened his hold around your waist, hurriedly taking your through an empty hall to the elevator, pressing the button to open it, "He's not my father."
You didn't say anything in return when the sound of his voice had turned dark when your ribs ached from the slight added pressure from his arm. He was doing it on purpose so you knew you had struck a nerve; if this were any other time, you would have teased him to your hearts desire but it hurt and he was letting you have your freedom until he found you again. You didn't want to make things worse for yourself right now.
Up these floors, the air felt a little different and your legs ached, "Hey.. How high are we?"
"I believe we're about 130 meters up, enough to kill you if you happened to jump."
"I'm not jumping!" The doors opened and Itona followed your request when he opened an emergency door when the chilly breeze hit your skin, careful to avoid running into people when he placed you down against a wall on the edge, you sat on the floor when he looked over to the scenery, his golden eyes skimming close and far, "How's the view?"
"It's alright. I'm leaving - goodbye."
"Byebye, nice knowing you- not really but yeah, leave thanks." Breathing out, Itona left your vision when he retreated back though the door you both came through. The breeze above on the outside was algid, raising goosebumps up your body while you nose grew cold and red. You used the strength you had gathered while seated on the floor to lift yourself using the edge of the balcony behind you and leaned against it. The sun was still high in the sky while it heated your skin a little in contrast to the wind that blew your hair that fell out of the rag that kept your tresses together, tamed.
The view from above was breath-taking but it didn't look like home to you, it wasn't as comforting as you felt out of place with so many people around; below you, while your friends had already departed to the place you longed to be. You could look down and see the pavement where so many people walked by like tiny ants scrambling to get from one place to the other. The cuts on your face were burning though there wasn't anything for you to ease the pain and the bruise that painted your torso blue became a dull ache that refused to be ignored.
"I know she's gone, Kurahashi-san. I just find out a little while ago, actually. I'm afraid I'm not sure where she is.. But! I'm sure she'll turn up if we wait." Koro's voice lit up by the end of his sentence, hoping to and successfully finding most of his students eyes lighting up when this news was real, that you were really awake and that you had to be coming. They just had to be a bit more patient and you should turn up, "She just disappeared from the hospital? You would've thought that she'd come straight here, right?" Isogai couldn't help thinking out loud as he sat on the desk behind him, Maehara leaning against it as he looked at the ikemen, "The doctor said she was already released,"
'She's been released actually and make sure you take care of her - she'll be in a lot of pain within the next few weeks with the way she's going on recklessly.'
"The doctor said it as if she was already with us or like she had gone to be with us." Nagisa scratched behind his ear, fidgeting with his hair while Karma stepped towards his desk to sit upon it quietly, thinking of all the possible scenarios to have occurred to a girl like you as he had heard in so many stories, "Who knows.. Maybe she was even taken from the hospital.."
He responded in such a careless way, unaware of the emotions of his classmates with such words that he spilled with a nonchalant face. Terasaka looked at him almost offended and curled his lip towards him, "Watch your mouth you bastard."
"Now, now Terasaka, I'm afraid Karma could be correct." Nakamura's felt her heart stop for a second as she thought about her friend, "No- I mean this is (Y/N) we're talking about here."
"I'm well aware of that Nakamura-san but we have to consider all things possible and I may have the evidence to support Karma's suggestion." In not even one second, Koro left and came back, this time with a duffle bag in hand when he had his handkerchief on his tentacle now, beginning to unzip it to reveal the contents, "That was just a stab in the dark tea-" Karma slowly stopped talking when the bag rattled and out came a sniper, a semi-automatic and also a handgun; bedazzled with two letters, and a wrinkled up box containing anti-Koro BB's inside.
He opened the next zip, the smaller one on the side and sighed aloud when he pulled a cellphone out along with a wallet, "That's-"
"(Y/N)-san's, I know Nakamura-san. I found this."
"What? Where did you get it?" Terasaka had asked when he stepped forward beside Yoshida, scrunching his brows with mixed emotions swirling in his chest, Koro began calling out names, Nagisa's group one-by-one as they perked up in curiosity and uneasiness, "Nagisa, Karma, Sugino, Manami, Kanzaki and Kayano- you do remember what happened in the back street at the warehouse in Kyoto, correct?"
Kanzaki nodded stiffly as Kayano visibly shivered, "Vividly.."
They weren't fond of recalling that memory but they couldn't dwell on it when their teacher spoke again, his voice serious and benign at the same time, "(Y/N) was also there. She was hiding in the shadows, behind in a broken hole on the back of the building.
(Y/N) was in Kyoto with us."
