Third person pov

Taehyung's heart was thumping against his chest. He held a neat sheet of paper in his hand, the new head alpha beside him, tapping his back to encourage him.

The first half of today's day, the crowning ceremony, had gone by smoothly.

Namjoon was made the head alpha with the permission of all the people present there. The speech he gave in which he spoke about his previous experiences with Jungho's unjust rules and how he will be different from the demon wolf had impressed everyone.

Now, it was Taehyung's chance to speak.

His legs were shaking as he walked up to the front and stood before everyone, looking at them carefully.

All of them had their eyes on him, curiously looking at him with adoration as they had a spot in their hearts for him.

He received a little encouragement from his bestfriend and mate through the mind link.

He stayed still for a while, his wide eyes reciprocating his anxiousness which only made the pack members think of him as a cute little child.

He was the youngest and the only male omega in their pack after all.

There were only about twenty-nine omegas in their pack which had hundreds of people living in it.

Somehow, it was a very shameful thing.

Keeping all that aside, Taehyung focused on his shivering hands which held the sheet of paper tightly, fearing that it may fall off.

Finally, he parted his lips to speak.

"I-I'm slightly nervous," he admitted, making the people present there break out in smiles. "I've never spoken before a c-crowd until now."

He took a deep breath to calm his nerves. He shouldn't be saying all this right now.

He glanced at Jungkook and gound him smiling endearingly at him, nodding at him to assure him that everything is okay.

"I, along with your new head alpha, have taken a decision which cannot be executed without the help and support from all of you," he said, getting straight to the point and not beating around the bush.

That seemed to catch the attention of the people. They turned their bodies towards him, wondering what he was talking about.

"In the past years of Jungho's rule, many of us suffered. Your past head alpha had made all your lives miserable by not letting you live frey and do your job properly," he said with a serious face.

He heaved out a sigh when they nodded in agreement while continuing to drink or eat the stuff they were provided within the party.

"Out of all of us..." He gulped. "The one who suffered the most are the omegas."

There. He just had to say that one sentence to see whether the people went against him or not.

He wanted to know whether any of them ever saw the pain of the omegas.

Were they ignorant towards it or considered themselves to have a more painful life than them?

Surprisingly, none of them frowned in rejection or denied his words, rather, they seemed to agree with what he said.

"Does everyone agree with that?" He asks curiously, carefully looking around the crowd.

"What did the omegas go through because of him?" An alpha male in his early twenties asked with a confused look.

Taehyung wanted to answer, but a female standing beside the male beat him to it.

"They were enslaved by him," she explained. "They were brought here to do his work and we're abused in every way possible."

Taehyung smiled at the boy when he looked at him with shock.

"That's right," Taehyung agreed. "I was one of those omegas."

This made a few people, who believed that he wasn't from this pack and had shifted here later on, gasp. He explained further,

"I was locked up in a room for fifteen years of my childhood so I don't dare to escape from this pack, then brought to this mansion to become a slave, my freedom and smile taken away forcefully."

They looked at him sympathetically, but he didn't dare stop. He had to let them know his story so they could understand his past.

It was painful to think about those days, but he'll do it to tell his story to these people.

"I was beaten for the smallest things--like forgetting to add certain ingredients in the food while not being even allowed to taste it or sitting down for a second to rest--and their punishments were never something small."

He recollected memories from the past by closing his eyes and breathing out deeply.

He thought about those past years and about the blood he had shed just because he was born as a lower-ranked werewolf.

"I had seen the death of ten to eleven omegas right before my eyes. None of us could do anything."

The expressions of the people there visibly twisted in shock and anger.

"That was how all of us lived. Forced to stay in a prison with dirty clothes and an empty stomach, forced to not do what we like and accept whatever is being given to us, being hit and treated to in the worst way possible, and whatnot."

He glanced at Jennie and nodded at her, telling her to speak.

"I..." She started, smiling when people looked at her, giving her their attention. "I was here for about eleven years as a slave."

Her smile le got bigger when they looked at her with horror.

"I was brought here as soon as a I turned eighteen. The people who were here before me were all killed. I survived through it. I met my mate who was a warrior, and he abused me just because I was a slave here. I rejected him because I couldn't take it."

She walked to Taehyung and held his shoulder.

"We had lived a life of nightmare, waking up every morning wondering if we'd be killed that night and sleeping with the fear that we wouldn't see the next morning. Our tears, pain, suffering had always gone unnoticed by everyone."

"We lost respect," Taehyung said. "We lost ourselves. The situation was so bad that we forgot our own worth and started thinking that living wasn't worth it."

"As I mentioned before, every year there were almost two hundred omegas who were killed by these warriors and Jungho or suicided to end their pain."

Taehyung was glad to be receiving such a nice response from them. They genuinely seemed to try and understand their past condition and pain.

"After all that we've gone through, we don't want the past to repeat itself," he said and sighed out deeply, finally revealing the main thing to them.

"We don't want ourselves to go through that type of pain again. We don't want any other omega to experience all those things we did."

Taehyung walked to Namjoon and held his hand. He licked his dry lips and said,

"We decided to start an organization which would protect omegas and let them enjoy the rights which they deserve," he kept his voice down and tried not to seem very excited.

Silence. That's what he was met with.

Anxiousness crawled up his skin as he spoke up again, trying to make his point more clear.

"Everyone in this pack has to follow these rules to ensure equality between ranks. They aren't anything complex or unfair. It's just simple and easy things that all of us need to follow."

The shifting and confusion made them more nervous.

"My first order to everyone here is to listen to these rules carefully and promise to abide by them," Namjoon said in a stern tone.

The pack members grew more serious and unsure about the situation. They weren't going to just listen to everything said to them.

They had already made a huge mistake by doing that--acting like a puppet--in Jungho's rule.

Now, if they weren't satisfied with any law, they were going to refuse to follow them.

But for that, they needed to listen to the omega first.

Taehyung smiled confidently, assuring them that it isn't anything bad.

He held the paper closer to himself and began reading the rules in the paper.

"The first rule," he stated, "is to let the omegas do what they wish to. No one can hold them back from pursuing their dreams. Forcefully holding them back from doing what they want because of their rank is not allowed and will be considered a punishable crime."

He looked up from the paper when he finished reading the first rule.

He waited patiently for anyone to say anything against it or asking any question related to it.

"What if they want to do something and can't do it because their family doesn't have enough money to let them learn and complete studies or pay for training?"

"That's what we're here for," Taehyung stated proudly with a smile. "All those families who come to us for help and have serious reasons, like poverty or any other such thing, we'd provide for the things they need to get a job, including their studies and other stuff."

"And where will you get that money from?" Someone asks in curiosity and warningly. "Is it from us? Do we need to pay extra so you can do all this?"

"No," Taehyung said sweetly even though the person's voice was harsh. "We wouldn't burden you or tax you extra for this. You'll continue to pay much lesser taxes than you used to during Jungho's rule."

There ended the worries of the people.

"What else? Any question related to this rule?" Taehyung asks, and when he gets no reply, he looked back at the paper to read the next rule.

"Abuse of any sort to a member of any rank will not be tolerated. The abuser will be given strict and harsh punishment if they dare to physically, mentally or sexually abuse anyone. This includes those who are mated too. Being mated to someone doesn't give them the right to hurt their mate in any way."

He looked through the rest of the printed words and looked back on too to tell them everything in a brief manner.

This rule had made him slightly nervous and desperate too.

"Any harassment to workers, mates, teenagers or children is not allowed. This is something a person cannot do, whether a rule against it exists or not. It's inhuman, so doing such a thing would only be asking for inhuman treatment against yourself as a punishment."

He searched across the crowd for anyone who dared to go against this.

This time, they had no say in this.

They will be forced the follow this rule no matter what the reason may be. This is for the betterment of their pack and their mentality.

They couldn't see such a harsh and cruel deed as something "fun" or "not something big".

"If you can't hold yourself--your dirty thoughts and your dirty hands--back when you see someone--may you be an alpha, beta or an omega--then lock yourself in a room until you can finally see people as human and not sex objects."

His voice got sharper and more demanding for attention, needing to dominate any words which were going to raise against his statement.

"If you find pleasure in hurting others and seeing them beg for help and forgiveness, then seek some mental help. Seeing others in pain is not something you need to feel happy or proud about!"

He sighed, knowing the many times he and Jungkook had abused each other just because of not being in the right state of mind.

He didn't want Jungkook to get punished for anything because it was alright for him to behave in the way he did.

The thing that matters here is intention. Jungkook or Oberon didn't have a wish to hurt him and even warned him to stay away many times. It may be hard to believe but Jungkook had suffered equally as much as himself or even more.

He didn't want his mate to go through any punishment for things he hasn't done.

Well, if Jungkook had tormented him, he had tormented Jungkook too.

"If you're mentally sick and tend to behave aggressively then try to change by either seeking help or by determining and setting a goal to get better. Don't use your illness as a reason to hurt others or yourself. Don't just say that you did it because you couldn't hold yourself back. It is tough when you can't control it, surely, but you need to change yourself no matter what the reason may be. Even though a sick person isn't allowed to be given punishment, you still can't continue doing what you are."

Silence took over the room as soon as he finished speaking.

Taehyung calmed himself down, taking deep breaths.

His past was bad but people have much worse lives than him because their mates or bosses are complete devils.

His Jungkook wasn't a devil. He knew his mate was getting better and wasn't one of those stupid people who did everything even after knowing that it was wrong. Jungkook didn't even do anything to him most of the times; he had just come to conclusions way too fast.

Even though the trueblood had said him a million apologies after his wolf did whatever he did, he knew that none of them was empty. He knew that Jungkook always meant them.

Those omegas and betas who went through this kind of abuse every day by their mates and still staying quiet and holding back from expressing their fears just because the person was his mate were living a worse life.

Also, none of those abusers was like Jungkook to try and get better. None of them was Oberon to promise to stop and show immediate response to the promise by stopping their harsh actions.

Taehyung's heartbeat stopped when he heard footsteps come towards him. He could already tell what was going to happen now.

Jungkook walked up to him and stood beside him, looking down sadly.

He had to admit it. He had to tell everyone that he had done something he shouldn't have in the past because it was rather good to not hide it.

It was what was right.

He couldn't keep shut and act like nothing happened when it did.

He wasn't afraid of punishment.

At least... If some of them could see him owning up to his mistakes, they might decide to not do what his insane wolf did in their sane state.

May it be fear of having to deal with legal punishments or the fear of losing love, something will hold them back from abusing or hurting their mate.

After all, even though past, he had done stuff which he shouldn't have.

"My sick wolf who is suffering from the heartbroken disease mentally abused Taehyung in the past," he admitted, looking down guiltily. He doesn't get fazed by the gasps and shocked responses.

Though it was hard to be the center of attention and speak to people in a collected manner, he will do it.

He has to. He needs to prove that he's trying to improve.

"I am ready to face my punishment," he said calmly, and Taehyung breathed in sharply at that, shaking his head at him. "Whatever the punishment for my actions is, I will do it. I will take responsibility for my actions."

They looked sad and shocked at that sudden promise.

He smiled as much as he can.

"I dared to hurt my mate," he started. "I regret it, and I'm sure that after owning up to my mistake and taking the punishment for it will make me and my wolf feel a little better and we will forget about it so we can continue to live happily later on."

"You don't have to, alpha," a beta said. "It was in the past anyway. The rules are being set now; why should you do this?"

Taehyung hugged Jungkook from the side, praising his bravery for telling everything to them.

But that's where this ends. He knew very well that Jungkook didn't know what he was doing and didn't have any wrong intention. Why should he be punished?

"I have forgiven Oberon because I honestly know that he is a better person than he was before. He changed himself to be a good person for me, but not everyone out there is like this. If you're suffering from domestic violence then make sure you fight against it. Forgiving your abuser after they are punished for their actions will be completely up to you and your sentiments, but they need to get a punishment for what they have done. Jungkook and Oberon didn't know what they were doing because they were suffering a heartbreak and any doctor would tell you how bad the state of a person when suffering this disease."

He heaved out a breath and avoided looking at Jungkook.

He hadn't known that Jungkook would confess his deeds in front of the people.

The trueblood hadn't told him that he was doing such a thing.

The omega took in a deep breath and spoke up again. "Will he be punished?" Hoseok asked in a small voice, not ready to let them take Jungkook away because he knew everything his gem had been going through and didn't think it was right to let him take punishment.

"I brought a doctor here," Namjoon stated, looking at the doctor. "I would like for him to confirm whether this disease is bad enough to allow the abuser to get saved from the punishment."

"It should be," Taehyung spoke shakily, gulping. "I was in a better condition but still have many conflicts with him and threw things at him too. He didn't do any worse than that."

"But you were suffering--" Jimin started, not wanting Taehyung to serve any punishment just like how Hoseok didn't want Jungkook to be punished.

"Jungkook was suffering too," Taehyung stated. "If he is being punished, I will be too. It was just a action-reaction thing that I did after I was nearly pushed to death, but I said maybe worse things than he did. Both of us were not in the right state, but I had intended to hurt Jungkook while he hadn't even wished for that."

Namjoon nodded, the corners of his lips drooped down in seriousness. He flipped through a few documents, adjusting his thick-rimmed glasses.

"The disease is very serious," the doctor stated, looking carefully through his records and documents. "It would be wrong to punish a person who did things in this state, and alpha had been through the worsts of this disease."

Taehyung breathed in a deep puff of air in relief.

"Taehyung had also suffered a lot,' the head alpha said. "I'd seen through the things he has gone through so it's not right to punish him too because he was a much better and bubbly person when I had first come to the mansion to work, but he lost his liveliness after meeting Jungkook who also brought his happiness back."

Taehyung smiled, way too relieved that Hayoon wouldn't have to suffer by staying away from her parents again.

He handed the other left papers of rules to Namjoon, too happy to do anything more.

He dragged Jungkook back home and engulfed him in a big hug, thanking him and telling him how proud he is.

Jungkook grinned sweetly at his praises, blushing and telling him that he hadn't done anything so big for him to be so lovey dovey with him and praise him so much.

All the softness and sweetness came to an end when Taehyung unintentionally ground his lower half against Jungkook, the alpha holding his hips and squeezing them with a groan, clenching his eyes shut.

"Kim Taehyung, stop triggering my rut," Jungkook said sternly. "If you continue doing things like that then I will fuck you everyday until the day rut finally comes."

"I... don't mind, I guess?" Taehyung laughed at Jungkook's stunned face.

"Confident, are we?" Taehyung yelped when Jungkook spun them around and put him on the couch like he weigh nothing. "Let's see if it remains like that, hmm?"

Taehyung smiled widely. "Sure."
