Third person pov
"Is everyone here?" Taehyung asks with a nervous voice.
He adjusted the suit he was wearing, feeling really uncomfortable because he wasn't used to wearing shiny and expensive stuff like this.
Jungkook was stuck to his hip every second, going everywhere he went, getting protective as he was distressed.
He reeked of burnt cherries because of anxiousness, and he knew that the trueblood couldn't stand his distress. Jungkook was himself in a bad state so he couldn't tell anything to comfort him.
He looked around to find everyone in the same state as he is. All of them were wearing black suits, looking extremely good, but none had smiles on their face.
They were dull and pale in worry.
"I called Namjoon hyung," Taehyung stated, voice shaky. "He said that everything is going as planned, and nothing seems strange. None of them found out about what we did yesterday."
"What if he did get to know but is pretending that he doesn't?" Hoseok's words made their heart drop to their stomach, fear settling deep in their hearts.
What if that is true?
What if they go there today and see all their worst nightmares come true?
"It's okay," Jimin said sternly, strongly. "He can't hurt us. If he does know about what we did, we can escape from there and flee away from this pack."
"We can't come out hurt from this situation," Hoseok said, referring to him and his mate. "Jungho doesn't even know us. If he does realise that we're with you, he'll still not hurt us. Also, we're living in another pack already."
"He needs Jungkook so he wouldn't hurt him too, and about me, he's probably already given me enough as a punishment because he didn't try to hurt me after that day even when he could do so," Jimin said, eyes travelling to Taehyung.
"So the main danger is to..." Jimin started, sighing. "Taehyung."
The omega snapped his head towards him, brows raised questioningly.
"Why do you say that?"
"We all know how to sword fight. Jungho doesn't care about your life. He knows how much Jungkook loves you... he can use it as an opportunity to..."
He doesn't complete his sentence, refraining from causing any more pain to the trueblood who already looked on the verge of breaking down.
All they could do was hope that history doesn't repeat itself.
If it did, then nothing would come good of the situation.
If anything happened to Taehyung, Jungkook would go insane, berserk. What disasters would happen thereafter couldn't be estimated by them.
Half of the trueblood was already sick. If what they're thinking happens, the human would lose his mind too.
An angry trueblood cannot take a good decision; that was something all of them knew.
"We'll make sure that he doesn't lay a finger on you, Taehyung," Yoongi assured the boy who stared at his mate with sad eyes.
He noticed how tensed his shoulders were, eyes intentionally staying away from Taehyung's. He had his hands clasped together behind his back, trying to hide their shaking state from others.
Taehyung wondered if what he was doing in selfish.
He's putting Jungkook in such a state to fulfil his own revenge.
Wasn't that so selfish? He knew there are chances of him coming out dead from this situation...
If that happens, then what about Jungkook?
They all waited for a while longer, calming their raging hearts before turning around to leave the mansion.
Taehyung and Jungkook stayed back, still in the same position. Taehyung felt dejected to look at Jungkook's state.
He walked closer to the boy and looked up at him with a crestfallen expression.
"Kookie," Taehyung started, cupping the elder's cheek. "I will stay with you."
Jungkook shook his head instantly, pushing his hand away.
"D-don't promise such things. Last time when someone promised such a thing to me..."
Taehyung clenched his eyes shut, biting his lips harshly to calm himself down.
He knew it. He knew that his mate was scared that what happened to Hyejin would happen to him.
He didn't want to leave, but if things don't go according to what they want, then something like that was bound to happen.
Yet, Taehyung wanted to clutch onto the belief that they can survive through this and pass their final test together, removing the only thorn left in their rose, their love.
They can do this.
"My promise is stronger, baby," Taehyung cooed at his mate, pressing his lips to a thin line. "We're meant to be; nothing can take me away from you."
Jungkook looked up with a broken expression, eyes twinkling in pain, hope and fear.
"Really?"
"Yes," Taehyung smiled sadly. "Also, I haven't given you pups yet."
His sentence lifted the mood of the elder who chuckled half genuinely, smiling at him. The omega lifts his up hand to wipe away Jungkook's unshed tears.
"It's gonna be alright. I'm sure."
Jungkook nodded at him, securely holding his palm and keeping it close to his cheek, wanting to enjoy this moment while it lasts.
"Don't promise me to not leave, but promise me to take me along to everywhere you go. We're going to be together forever, yeah?"
The omega nodded without any hesitation. He wouldn't let Jungkook suffer alone by leaving him.
If he's going to leave, he'll take him along with him.
That was something he wanted to promise to Jungkook because he knew that it was better to die together than leaving one half behind.
It was, again, selfish as they had a daughter who needed them, wanted them.
But if it was only one going to survive from this, the one who survived wouldn't be able to remain in a sane state to actually take care of the child.
But Taehyung believed that they'd get out alive. They didn't need to worry about anything. They will survive.
They were together at that moment.
That's all that mattered.
--------
They were welcomed into the mansion warmly--making them feel really strange and uncomfortable--with juices and other such stuff.
Taehyung bowed respectfully at the waiter before taking the small cup from the waiter's hand, smiling.
"Don't drink it or eat anything from here," Taehyung mind linked them, keeping a strongly unfazed expression.
They looked at him questioningly, and he explained why he was telling them not to drink it, "Remember who has invited us here and where we are right now."
They nodded at him, slowly, sneakily pouring the juice in a plant pot before placing the cups on a table.
They clenched their sweaty hands together and stood at one end of the huge hall awkwardly, not speaking or enjoying the party.
Jungho wasn't anywhere in sight. Taehyung kept a close eye on everyone present there, meeting eyes with a few disgusting warriors who looked at him like he was dust.
They didn't dare to say a word to him though. Jungkook and Jimin were standing on beside him, so no one could dare to even look at him for long as they could see the rage in protective men's eyes as they glared at everyone.
They were stuck to him, Jungkook's arm around his waist while Jimin held him by his shoulder casually.
It made him want to laugh, and he would've actually laughed if it wasn't for the anxiousness he was feeling.
He hated all this. He hated being in such a nerve-wrecking situation.
He just wanted to go back home and cuddle with his mate to sleep or just stay in his embrace forever.
He steadied himself, taking deep breaths to calm down.
It was half-past ten in the night now. Jungho was still nowhere in sight.
Music boomed in the halls of the mansion, and while some people danced and laughed--them being someone close to Jungho--the rest just chose to keep straight and dull faces, sitting in a corner.
Most of those unhappy people were the pack members who were forced to attend this stupid party just so they could see the demon wolf cruelly exchange omegas--like they were objects--in order to remain alive.
Did they like it? Not one bit. Every one of them had different reasons to hate Jungho, but all their feelings for him were the same.
Surprisingly, Taehyung got a lot of attention. It wasn't because of how beautiful he looked but because he was the only omega there, in the hall.
At some point in time, Taehyung had had enough of the stares. He buried himself in Jimin's shoulder, grumbling under his breath, wanting to cry out in frustration.
Jungkook wearily rubbed his shoulder. He wanted nothing more than to damage the eyes of everyone who looked at his mate dirtily but had promised Taehyung to keep his anger in control.
He said in a sweet tone, "It's okay. It'll be done soon."
Taehyung remained just like that after that, hidden in his friend's embrace as he knew that doing the same thing with Jungkook would make people even more disgusted.
The omega's scent was too strong to be missed but it was mixed with Jungkook's protective scent so it kept all alphas away.
They waited and waited for something to happen, for Jungho to come in sight.
Finally, when there was only an hour left for midnight, Jungho appeared, clad in a shiny black suit. The darkness in his aura was more powerful than the suit he wore.
He walked down the stairs with a proud look on his face, a cocky smile, decked in stylish accessories, dark hair slicked back to expose his forehead.
He looked oddly young and handsome, but it was all just the effect of the stupid demon powers in him.
The smile on his face stretched further when the warriors cheered for him. He nodded at them, liking their actions, feeling more powerful, like a king.
His shoes made a clicking sound when they touched the wooden floor right after he climbed down the last stair.
Silence spread in the hall. The music player was turned off, and people's whispers and conversations died down, all attention on the demon wolf now.
He looked at everyone in the room, eyes roaming the entire hall to find a few known ones.
Sangmi joined his side, pushing a few people away aggressively, arrogantly, while glaring at them.
"Thank you all for coming to this new year party," Jungho said, ignoring his wife completely and pushing her hand away from him, behaving like her touch was dirtying his glorious self. "It feels good to see your faces."
Out of all the people present there, it was only the warriors who seemed to enjoy everything.
The common people of the pack were just quiet and careful of everything around.
They didn't want to be tortured and thrashed for doing something wrong.
Taehyung was shaking in fear now. He broke away from Jimin to look at the demon wolf, trembling hands finding their way to Jungkook's and clutching on them.
The trueblood growled and held him protectively, mind going hazy and his alpha mode turning on as he could sense his mate's fear.
He wanted to pounce on the cause of his mate's fear and remove its existence.
He held himself from going on a rampage. He kept in mind that he didn't have to do anything to defeat Jungho today.
All they had to do that day was to see Jungho die the worst death. Within minutes after the clock struck twelve, the demonic powers, which was keeping the male alive, would leave his body.
After that, the thing that was supposed to happen to him long ago would happen to him. His power we would leave the body forcefully as there wasn't anything that was holding them back.
His wolf which was kept alive would die instantly, and then his body would rot and turn black before he finally dies too.
As they read from somewhere, ancient people say that it would be a very painful death.
It would hurt a hundred times more than burning to death or falling from a huge building and having every bone in the body break.
All of this would only happen if what they planned worked out well.
That is exactly what all the commoners would love to see happening. They have only suffered because of him.
Of course, they didn't know what was going possibly going to happen to him that night and that would only make them even more surprised and happy.
But all that was going to happen. Until it does happen, Taehyung and his hyungs would only feel scared and anxious.
Jungho smirked before smiling widely, grinning when his eyes landed on Jungkook and Taehyung.
"Son," He whispered, the voice not reaching the trueblood's ears, but Jungkook managed to read his mouth. He only growled in response.
The smirk of the demon wolf made Taehyung's skin crawl. His body shook when Jungho made his way to them, turning his evil expression into an innocent one.
"Here you are, the special guests of the night! Everyone, this is my son, Jeon Jungkook," He introduces to the people, gritting his teeth in anger when Jungkook continued to remain seated and glared at him, disrespecting him.
"He's not well behaved," Jungho states in a disgusted way, looking around to see the people before turning back to his son. "He's nothing a Jeon should be."
Jungkook scoffs, hold on Taehyung tightening. He could feel Taehyung shake and shudder; it made it hard for him to control his anger.
"I'd like not being a Jeon because, at least then, I won't be related to you to in any way," Jungkook said, voice crystal clear and enough for everyone in the quiet room to hear.
He hated attention, but behaving harsh and rude made him confident. This... This was when he felt comfortable.
Jungho didn't seem taken aback by his rudeness. Jungkook was his own blood after all. His eyes travelled to the omega beside him and his previous smirk which had vanished came back.
"No, son. You couldn't ever be like me even if you wanted to. Not when you get attached to pests like him and act like they mean the whole world to you."
Taehyung gulped, keeping his eyes lowered as he didn't want to look at the male in his eyes. To say that he was scared out of his wits would be an understatement.
He didn't wish to be submissive, but that was exactly how the smell from both the powerful beings--the trueblood and the demon wolf--was making him.
"Here, everyone, is the dumb, useless, omega slave of mine who I had sent away because he came to no good use when he was here, with me," Jungho said, eyes boring holes into the omega's head, turning malistic.
"Watch your mouth, bastard!" Jungkook said, getting up to tower the demon wolf, glaring down at him with gritted teeth, face turning red.
"Speak like that about my mate and I won't--"
Jungho's laugh cut him off. He held his stomach and wiping the fake tears from the corner of his eyes.
"Mate?" He laughed. "How many fucking mates do you have, hmm?"
Jungkook's face remained stern and powerful; the deadly glare of his made shivers run down the spines of the people there.
Jungkook smirked at Jungho, eyes turning darker than ever before. He chuckled, taking a step forward intimidatingly.
"One," Jungkook said, stressing on the word and putting his hands inside his pocket to hold back from hitting this old man. "I have one mate."
He turned around to glance at Jungho before looking back in front.
"You had one too--a really sweet-hearted and perfect mate--but you were useless and the dumbest person alive for not loving her back," Jungkook said, growling at him.
"Keep that shit to yourself," The older man said, rolling his eyes and looking away from Jungkook as he didn't want to speak to him.
He knew exactly what would hurt the trueblood.
He couldn't directly hurt him by yelling at him or hitting him.
He could hurt the lovesick fool emotionally by hurting his lover.
He extended his arm to hold Taehyung's wrist, but his hand was harshly pushed away by Jimin. "Keep your hands to yourself," he growled, glaring at him.
Jungho rolled his eyes. He looked back at Taehyung and says, "Tell these stupid bodyguards of yours to back off before I make them do so."
Taehyung looked up, flinching and gulping as he looked at Jungkook and Jimin who looked close to losing their sanity.
Many warriors stood alert, waiting for Jungho to give them some sort of sign.
He knew it wouldn't turn out well if he didn't listen to the demon wolf.
But he wasn't dumb to let Jungho do whatever he wants.
"What do you want?" He musters courage and asks with a quivering voice. "What was your intention behind calling us here?"
And a minute later, the whole situation turned into complete chaos.
Taehyung screamed as he saw his mate fall on the floor, blood flowing from his head after being hit harshly with a rod. Blood gushed out from his torn skin, staining the floor and his clothes.
Jimin, Hoseok and Yoongi had been seized by warriors who tied ropes around them to keep them from moving.
They were pushed to their knees, and all they could do was groan in pain when a few warriors kicked or grasped onto their hair harshly.
"J-Jungkook!" Taehyung yelled, holding the male's body close to himself. Jungkook kept his eyes open, grimacing in pain and wrapped his arms around Taehyung, still trying to protect him from the people who were looking at him, trying to take him away.
This wasn't supposed to happen.
This wasn't supposed to happen! Taehyung thinks because he had rest assured, believing that they wouldn't hurt Jungkook.
What was going on? Why did they hit his mate?
Jungkook wasn't so weak to fall unconscious with just a small hit. He could withstand it well.
He shushed the crying male, embracing him. Taehyung sobbed harder when Jungkook's blood stained his hand.
He glared at Jungho, gaining back enough power to attempt to get back up. He sat up straight, trying to stand up but failing because his head hurt like shit.
"Very strong, huh?" Jungho said, laughing as he motioned something to a warrior.
"No!" Taehyung yelled, shielding Jungkook's head with his hand when the warrior grabbed a wine bottle from the table. "Please d-don't do this!"
"Shit!" The trueblood groaned when they pulled his crying and screaming mate away from him. Taehyung tried to break away from their hold and go back to his mate but he couldn't fight against the strength of five alpha warriors.
Jungkook's back landed on the floor again when they hit his head with the bottle, the pieces shattering and falling to the floor.
"T-Taehyung," he whimpered, gasping in pain when they hit his neck with something, seemingly a rod. He still kept his eyes open, trying to reach out to his mate.
This was probably the same rod they had used to hurt Taehyung and torture him. The only difference was that Taehyung was strong enough to take the hits for hours together while he wasn't.
He didn't know how long it went on.
They hit him, repeatedly, on his back, arms, legs and head. He tried to remain awake and fought against the will to give up for a long time just so he wouldn't worry his distressed, screaming mate.
He tried with all his will. Taehyung was crying so hard; he wanted to wipe away his tears with his hand which was covered with his own blood.
But even if he reached his hand out, Taehyung was far out of his reach.
He wanted to cut away the hands of those dirty warriors who touched his mate and harshly held him back from coming to him. How dare they hurt his petal? How dare they touch his mate?
He wished to hug Taehyung until he stops crying.
But he was too weak to do it. He was a trueblood who was not powerful. He was a man who couldn't protect his mate.
He wasn't someone who gave up on things which were hard to hold onto.
But the situation forced him to do so.
He finally closed his eyes, letting his body fall limp. The screams of his mate began fading away and turning into distant sounds.
He could hear the cries and sounds still, but it was becoming really hard to hear it.
He failed to protect his mate again. How pathetic.
"Jungkook?! Jungkook, wake up! P-Please, wake up!" Taehyung cried, trying to fight out of the hands of the demon wolf. "Jungkookie!"
The people of the pack present there saw the scene with shock and disbelief.
They tried running away from the mansion before they would end up hurt, but the doors and windows of the mansion were locked.
They kept their distance from these dangerous people and watched the screaming omega, who they hadn't seen before, with pained eyes.
"Jungkook!" He cried, sobbing. The demon wolf pushed to the floor, his body crashing onto the floor, making the boy yelp.
Somehow, it still didn't stop the omega from screaming for his mate to wake up and try to run to him.
Jungho held his hair and pulled him down, keeping him pinned on the ground by stomping down on his lap.
"Shut up!" Jungho growled, letting go of his hair, grabbing his jaw to make him look at him. "He's alive. The drink served to you as soon as you came here has made your wolves weak so stop trying to fight back. You're really weak at the moment."
What he didn't know was that they hadn't had any drink.
They were smart enough to not do so.
"Taehyung!" Jimin yelled, catching the attention of the omega. His desperate eyes seemed to plead him to do something. 'Run', the alpha mouthed to him.
He shook his head and looked back at Jungkook. We are going to be together always. I won't leave without them. He decided, crying.
Jungkook can't leave. He can't leave.
He's trying to keep his promise of doing everything together; Jungkook doesn't have a right to give up.
"Run?" Jungho asks, laughing at Jimin. "The doors are locked, young, stupid man. There is no way out of here."
Horror took over Jimin's features. He got to his feet, falling down before attempting to get up again. The ropes on his feet kept him down and there seemed to be no way to do what he wanted to.
He had to keep Taehyung safe. He promised to not let anything happen to him.
How did this happen?
He kept trying, though. He kept trying to get out of the ropes and free himself so he could go to his friend and save him.
His mind wasn't functioning properly as he was anxious, scared and worried for Taehyung's life, and he did all actions out of instincts, behaving like an animal does when being tied down and caught in a trap of a hunter.
"Stop, Jimin!" Yoongi yelled, trying to make him understand something. He tried to mind link him and tell him to calm down but it failed as he couldn't reach the distressed mind of the alpha.
"Let me go!" Jimin yelled. "Let me go, right now!"
But no one listened to his begs.
The demon wolf looked at the omega before him with interested eyes, amused at the burning fire of anger behind them as he glared at him, I'm disgust, in furiousness.
The omega looked so angry that he was turning red.
It amused Jungho. The omega stayed low, continuing to stay on the ground, keeping himself from doing any impulsive move due to anger.
"Let me tell you something, omega," Jungho said, smiling.
