Third person pov

Jungkook stared wide-eyed as the boy turned around and opened his eyes, looking at him with strange softness and determination.

He was completely frozen, still startled because Taehyung had heard everything he previously said. His ears turned red in embarrassment; he looked away from Taehyung so he doesn't notice the cherry red that spread on his cheeks.

Taehyung tugged on his wrist, scooting away from the corner of the bed, wordlessly asking the elder to lay down beside him. The elder still refused to look at him which made him frown.

"Come here," Taehyung ordered softly and lowly, voice laced with mild irritation.

Jungkook's face paled. He huffed out and looked back at Taehyung with pleading eyes. He was just too embarrassed to face him at the moment.

When Taehyung didn't let go of him, he hesitantly lay down on the bed. He didn't want to anger Taehyung so he followed the younger's orders.

He doesn't even know how Taehyung was feeling after listening to whatever he said earlier.

His body was stiff and uncomfortable, breathing uneven in anxiousness. He was lying on the edge of the bed, very close to falling off of it.

He squirmed when Taehyung heaved out a sigh, his warm breath hitting his neck. He could tell that Taehyung wasn't liking the way he is behaving.

"Closer," Taehyung whispered. Jungkook felt his soul leave his body when he heard those words.

Closer? Why does he want me to go closer? Is he going to hit me?

Taehyung sighed deeply in frustration and scooted closer to the elder himself. Jungkook wanted to scream; he was impossibly nervous.

Jungkook flinched when the omega brought his hand up and placed it on his chest, right over his heart, feeling the fast and uneven heartbeat under his palm.

Taehyung relished this moment. He shut his mind which yelled at him to stop all of whatever he was doing because it wasn't right.

He didn't care anymore. What was wrong and right didn't matter to him anymore. Eyes closed and breathing even, he calmed himself down and gave Jungkook a moment to calm his nerves too.

"Hold me," he ordered. He was doing what he wats now. This is what he wanted.  He wanted to be held by the person he loves madly. He wants to be caged in an assuring hug which made him forget about everything else in the world and concentrate solely on Jungkook.

Jungkook was what he wanted.

Jungkook's love was what he desired.

The past didn't matter. The anger, frustration and pain he felt didn't matter because it wasn't Jungkook who made him feel all that anyway.

He wished to see Jungkook smile, laugh and talk to him. He wanted the elder to tell him how much he mattered to him and how much he loves him.

He wants to get lost in the depth of his expressive eyes. The warmth in his chest, he wished it never subsided.

"What?" He choked out, his voice shaky and uncertain. He was on the brink of losing his mind. The calmness of the smaller boy, the serenity in his features and the sweetness in his voice confused him, scared him.

Taehyung spoke up again in a soft voice,

"You always say you want to hold me, so hold me now."

Jungkook trembled.

Is he angry?

He probably thinks I'm a desperate freak because until now I've hurt him, and now, I want to make him happy. He seems so calm; it doesn't feel right.

But what is he doing now? Why is he asking me to hold him? He doesn't have a knife with him, does he? Will he stab me when I hold him?

He gasped loudly, almost yelping, when Taehyung came closer and placed his head on his chest, fisting his shirt in his hand. The omega exhaled shakily, close to tearing up because of how contented he felt.

Instinctively, Jungkook wrapped his right arm around the younger. His other free hand cupped Taehyung's neck, and he patted on it to urge the younger to look up, concerned that he was crying.

He forgot about his own feelings of nervousness as he was overwhelmed with the thought of Taehyung crying. He was worried tense about the younger.

The atmosphere was heavy with uncertainty as the younger looked up slowly, frown on his face.

"Tae, are you alright?" He scanned his face with worry, brows furrowed and lower lip jutted out. He brought his right hand up and cupped Taehyung's cheeks, feeling the warm and soft skin beneath it.

"Who is she?" Taehyung asks, ignoring Jungkook's concerned question. "Who is Hyejin?"

Taehyung felt bitter when Jungkook froze on hearing the girl's name. The fact that he gets so affected by just hearing her name angered him.

Jungkook looks at him with surprise, lips parted and eyes wide. He hadn't even known that Taehyung knew his ex's name.

"H-how do you know her name?" He asks, and Taehyung face twisted in mild annoyance. He smirked darkly, Eyes becoming void. The mocking expression of the younger pained Jungkook.

"Oh, you don't remember? You don't remember that day when you were touching me all over my body while moaning her name?"

Jungkook's heart sank. Oh no.

"Tae--"

"What about her made you fall so hard? From the time I know you and have been living with you, I haven't seen her even once!"

Jungkook flinched at the harsh tone. He hated where this conversation was heading.

He was hesitant to tell Taehyung that he was his second mate and not the first. He had recently just discovered that Taehyung wasn't his second chance but his second mate. He was too unsure about all of this to explain it to Taehyung.

Moreover, the omega wasn't even giving him a chance to speak.

"What about her made her so special?!"

"Tae, stop all this. You're hurting yourself," Jungkook said, wearily seeing the way Taehyung was burying his nails in his palm in anger.

Stop what? You need to stop! Stop going behind someone who already left you. She probably met her real mate and left didn't she? Then why aren't you doing the same thing?!"

Jungkook growled lowly, disliking how lowly Taehyung was thinking about Hyejin. He loved Taehyung, of course, he did, but he couldn't hate Hyejin because he loved Taehyung now.

He couldn't stand the harsh words Taehyung was saying. He hated how Taehyung was oh, so carelessly taking up such a sensitive topic and hurting him by insulting his past mate.

Taehyung didn't know about all that, but he wasn't supposed to talk about it then.

"Tae, you don't know anything," he said sternly but softly. He clutched on Taehyung's hand to stop him from hurting himself any further. He winced when he saw blood oozing out of his palm due to the impact of his nails.

"That's why I'm asking you! Tell me what made her special? What makes her better than me?!"

Jungkook closed his eyes, calming himself down.

"You need to calm down--"

"I'm asking you something! Was she prettier than me? Did she have a better scent than I do? Or was she just good in bed--" He was cut off by a growl by the elder.

He whimpered and lowered his head in submission. Jungkook had his eyes close shut tightly, nose flaring in anger. H's hold on the boy remained soft, nevertheless.

"She's dead. She died long ago," Jungkook muttered through gritted teeth. He slowly untangled his arms from around the boy, feeling guilty for growling at the boy.

He successfully swallowed down his anger and got out o the bed while letting out a sigh. He couldn't muster up the courage to look at the boy so he just muttered a soft apology without looking at him and left the room.

Taehyung was heartbroken at what he just heard.

S-she's dead?

Shit, what have I done? I really didn't know that she was...

I was so insensitive to him. I s-should've considered his feeling before opening my mouth. I hurt him now.

He did wrong by going ahead and loving someone else, but still, he loved her.

It must've hurt so bad. It's wrong to me, but nothing can stop a person from loving someone.

I've been so rude...

He groaned and tossed around on the bed.  He couldn't even imagine how hurt Jungkook would be at the moment. He had spoken so harshly about someone who was dead, about the person Jungkook used to love.

If only he had told me earlier... Taehyung thought and just then Jimin's words came to his mind.

"Taehyung, the worst nightmare for you is being alone, but Jungkook has never known what a life without loneliness is. He likes living alone. Trust me, he has never opened up to anybody easily."

He sat up on the bed, staring at the door, wondering if he will come. Like every day, forgetting about all of his harsh actions, he would come. Taehyung wondered if he would come that night too.

Jungkook hadn't returned though.

--------

The previous night's events played in the just woken boy's mind, and his heart sank when he realized that the elder hadn't come back to sleep beside him on the bed. The sheets smelled oddly of lavenders only, no smell of forest wood came from them.

His eyes dropped, acknowledging the fact that he was really at fault. He shouldn't have said whatever he did the previous night.

He knew that he himself would be furious if his love or lover was insulted by someone. Just because Jungkook was his mate, it doesn't mean that Jungkook's love for the girl wasn't strong enough or was worth only insult.

The girl was dead; Jungkook must've gone through so much pain. He couldn't imagine how much it would've pained the elder to listen to his harsh words about his past lover.

Furthermore, he didn't have the right to desolate everyone just because he was suffering. That was so wrong.

Is he still hurt? If I apologize, will he forgive me? He asks himself and presses his lips into a thin line.

I would've slapped the shit out of a person if they behaved so rudely to me, but he didn't even react much. He held back all his anger and apologized even though he hadn't done anything.

He's changed so much. He genuinely cares for me now and was even worried yesterday that I would hurt myself.

It's so wrong to be so harsh to him when he is trying to get better for me. He doesn't deserve this.

After going through the loss of a person he loves, he must've felt so lonely and broken. He can't even keep his daughter close to himself because of the fear that his pathetic father would take her away.

So much pain...

And all I have done is increase his pain. I yelled at him, hit him and rejected him several times when he was trying to be his best for me.

I know how it feels for all my efforts to go in vain. It's so, so bad.

He sighed deeply, frustrated. He pushed the blanket off his body. His eyes travelled to the bedside table where he usually finds a rose or some other pretty flower kept every morning.

He was sure that he wasn't going to find a flower that day, and that's why he was more than just surprised to see a pretty daffodil flower on the table.

Just seeing the flower made him happy, all his previous negative and depressing thoughts vanishing. He felt a huge burst of emotions as he extended his arm and grabbed the pretty flower. He was overwhelmed.

You're full of surprises, Jeon Jungkook.  You went out of this room in anger yesterday, and now, you've kept this beautiful flower here for me.

He was truly overjoyed. His throat swelled shut; he felt like crying. the flower was a clear sign that Jungkook wasn't angry at him and was fine, not hurt or distressed.

This flower...

Daffodils were symbolic of a new beginning, and after seeing the flower which showed how desperate the elder was to gain his forgiveness, he knew that from that day, Jungkook's attempts to gain his attention wouldn't go in vain.

It was the beginning of a better life for him and Jungkook. There wasn't going to be any more pain, he knew. He will make sure that both of them don't feel pain anymore.

Now, when they cry, they'll cry together. When they laugh, they will laugh together. If they feel pain, the reason for feeling the pain won't be the other.

He wasn't going to hurt him anymore. No, no more. He wouldn't do that because he didn't want that. Jungkook would feel the love he deserves.

He knew this was right. It was his choice to make, and he had decided what he would do now.  There was nothing that could change his mind now.

With a small smile, he placed the daffodils back on the table, his trust in Jungkook becoming stronger. His ears perked up when he heard footsteps from outside the room.

The door opened slowly, creaking lowly. The trueblood came in with small hesitant steps, looking unsure and nervous. His shoulders were slumped in disappointment on himself.

"Tae," He looked up and bit down on his lower lip, "I'm sorry for yest--"

"Stop apologizing for something you didn't do," Taehyung spoke softly, and Jungkook's eyes grew as wide as saucers. "I'm the one who should be apologizing. I'm sorry."

What the hell is going on? Jungkook continued to stare at Taehyung with lips parted in surprise. He usually gets so angry that he throws stuff at me, and now, he is saying sorry...

Taehyung's lips tugged upwards in a bright and cute boxy smile. His eyes crinkled prettily. Jungkook forgot how to breathe for a split second before he inhaled shakily, fisting his hand because he was losing control over his raging heart.

Taehyung looked so cute while smiling; his heart threatened to beat out of his chest on seeing the long lost boxy smile.

"Good morning," the omega said, not feeling even slightly disturbed by the fact that Jungkook was staring at him with great surprise.

The trueblood couldn't help but gasp at what he just said.

Did he just...

Oh my god, what's going on?

"You won't greet me back?" Taehyung asks with a smile, amused at how perplexed Jungkook looked. He pouted cutely when Jungkook didn't reply, and the elder felt attacked when he saw his cute puppy eyes.

"G-good morning," He stuttered unsurely. Am I even awake?

Taehyung grinned widely at him while thanking him for the beautiful daffodils. He even gave Jungkook a small hug while leaving the room.

Am I still sleeping?
