Third person pov
His distressed and desperate expression was hidden within the hood as he jumped from above the fence wall, entering the compound of Jungho's mansion.
He was determined to go back home only along with Taehyung. He was ready to encounter anyone who hinders his actions, but he hoped that that didn't happen. He didn't want to waste any more time than he already has.
He wouldn't be able to calm his raging heart until he sees Taehyung, until he holds him and apologizes for letting them take him away.
He felt really unhappy because every time he always just ends up hurting his mate more and more.
He didn't intend to do it, but guess he was just someone who couldn't give anything but problems and sadness to everyone.
He never tried to make anyone happy after the death of Hyejin. He himself was too distressed to think about someone else's melancholy, but he genuinely wanted Taehyung to be happy.
There isn't any possibility of him being happy until you get out of his life. He spat to himself but knew that there wasn't a way he could leave Taehyung unless they reject each other.
He genuinely didn't want that. He wanted to act like a proper mate for once and fulfil his responsibilities as a mate. He wanted his wolf to become normal again. He wanted the condition they had developed, after the death of their mate, to disappear.
But not everything can go according to what he wants; he knows that, but nothing in his life ever went according to his wish.
He really did want Taehyung to forgive him and love him again, but he didn't want Taehyung to spoil his life by forcing himself to act like his mate. So if Taehyung wanted rejection, he'd give him that.
But for now, he had to bring Taehyung back home.
He huffed out gladly because there was absolutely no one in the backyard of the mansion.
He crept from behind the wall, scanning the place carefully before opening the back door and getting in.
He looked around at the unfamiliar place, unsure of where to go. He just knew that he was at the south corner of the mansion, the place where the prison and other rooms where the omegas are forced to live is situated.
He looked around, feeling lost. He hadn't even seen the whole of the mansion he grew up in, mainly because he spent most of his time in his room as he didn't want to come across Sangmi while roaming around.
Sangmi usually hit him for stuff like that. She abused him for dumb reasons like for looking into her eyes, speaking to someone or walking around without her permission.
Just thinking about all that made his blood boil.
"Who are you?" He hears someone's voice which made him freeze on his spot for a moment.
He turns around swiftly, facing the wide-shouldered warrior who stood before him, looking at him with suspicious eyes and furrowed eyebrows, trying to see his face which was hidden by the hoodie.
Jungkook grabbed the handle of his dagger, cautiously ducking his head as he didn't want the warrior to see his face. He growled threateningly at the person whose frown deepened.
"Young master?" Jin whispers after listening to the growl of the male. He has heard him growl so much that it had become a really familiar sound to him.
Jungkook gritted his teeth, not comprehending how the warrior got to know who he is.
"I'm not going to go back without him. If I have to kill you for doing what I came here for, I will do it, so you better go away right now and not tell anyone about me being here."
Jin tilted his head to the side, wondering who he was talking about. He was just staying here to make sure no one goes to Taehyung.
He then grasped onto what Jungkook was talking about and gasped.
"Taehyung?" he asks, his eyes wide laced with hope. "Are you here for Taehyung?"
Jungkook suspiciously and hesitantly nods. That was enough for the beta to quickly grab ahold of his wrist and drag him to a certain place.
Jin wasn't ever scared of the younger anyway, so the growl which Jungkook let out when he tugged him along didn't scare him.
Jungkook tried to free himself, but Jin had a really tight hold on him. He gritted his teeth, trying to decide whether he should trust him or not.
"What the--"
"Shh," Jin shuts him up as he didn't want them to get caught. The rest of the warriors were probably eating dinner and the dining hall wasn't very far from this place.
They continued walking at a fast pace, Jin being a step ahead of the trueblood. They reached a certain turning when the beta finally stopped walking, forcing Jungkook to stop too.
"In there," Jin says, voice laced with pain as he pointed to the room which was meant for torturing people.
Jin looked back at the younger and tried to study his emotions.
Jungkook's heart sank in fear. His eyes widened as he stared at the black-brown door. He gulped, inhaling sharply.
"I-in there? Why did t-they take h-him there?" He asks, stuttering sorrowfully, tears welling in his eyes which shocked the beta who had only ever seen him growl and grit his teeth in anger.
He never knew the younger felt anything other than irritation and anger.
Jin's eyes turned soft in sadness as he lightly patted Jungkook's shoulder.
Just by looking at his state, anyone could tell how hurt and pained he was.
If the ignorant and careless trueblood had come all the way here, to the place where the grave of his dream of a happy childhood lay, it was certain that Taehyung meant a lot to him.
It was obvious that he cared for the boy.
Jungkook didn't even feel the soft touches of the beta. His heart and mind were tearing apart in guilt, his throat clogging up and closing shut. He wanted to sob his heart out again.
He isn't fine. Taehyung isn't fine.
H-his mate, who was supposed to protect him, made him get hurt. I am the reason he was brought h-her a-and they--
How pathetic could I be? I-I should've just killed myself long ago. If I had done that, Taehyung wouldn't have to suffer with someone who is this pathetically useless.
Though Jungkook hated crying, he couldn't help but cry when he knew that his mate was tortured by these ruthless people. Taehyung hadn't done anything at all, but they...
Well, he didn't have a right to say that Jungho is bad because he was as evil as his father is.
He harshly wiped the tears which had just escaped his lids and nodded gratefully at Jin because he had shown him the way to this place.
He took hesitant steps forward, and Jin watched him carefully for a while, glad that someone was here to save the omega who was like his younger brother.
The beta turned around and quickly left, going back to where he was before he saw Jungkook, as he still had to make sure no one comes here.
The trueblood was getting even more afraid and anxious with every step he took. He felt uneasy, his heat dropping with every step he took.
He reached the door and saw the thin line of blood flowing out from the space between the door and floor.
Horror filled him to the brim. He raised his hand and placed it on his mouth to stop himself from letting out any shocked sound. His wide-eyed just continued to stare at the blood.
He didn't want to go in anymore. He wasn't ready to face the omega who was possibly in his worst state.
But he had to do it.
He held the handle of the door with his shaking hand and twisted it. The rattling of the handle ceased when he pushed the door open with a creak.
His heart completely shattered when he saw Taehyung's beaten up form tied to a chair with ropes that were soaked with blood too.
Red colour stained his whole body. The stench of blood in the room was so strong that he nearly gagged.
His eyes landed in the omega's once clean clothes which were now bloodied and torn everywhere because of the harsh hits of the rods and whip.
He looked nothing like what he did a while ago when they met at the pond. His face, though not much bruised in comparison to his body, was covered in red marks too.
Cuts, bruises, wounds and scratches decorated his once pretty, clear and smooth skin.
Jungkook was too shocked to even make any actions now. The heavy feeling in him reached its maximum, making his knees grow weak, mind becoming numb. His body got too heavy for his legs to carry.
Why? Why did they do this to you?
Why did I let this happen?
The younger struggled to lift his head to look at the person who had come there. His swollen eyes were barely open as he deliberately tried to see who it is, in fear.
He cowered away when the hazy figure at the door took a step closer, whimpering which made Jungkook's actions halt.
"P-please," He sniffles, his blue eyes peeking through his half-closed lids.
Jungkook felt hope rise in him when he realised that it was Taehyung's wolf before him, not Taehyung.
He knew how attached wolves get to their mates. He hoped Venus would let him help him.
He took a few steps further, ignoring the whimpers and sniffles of the boy.
He kneeled on the floor and looked right at Venus' navy blue eyes, slowly extending his hand forward. He was shocked when the wolf recoiled from his touch, begging him to stop. He gasped and retracted his hand quickly.
"D-don't! please... I-I swear I haven't done anything. Let me go!" He begged, letting out a sob then wincing because of the waves of pain that hit him due to his sudden movements.
"Tae..." Jungkook whispers in a broken voice. The omega's chest heaved up and down as he growled weakly.
How was the wolf supposed to trust that person who had also abused him in the past?
"Tae, it's me—y-your mate," he stuttered. He hoped that the boy will recognise him, but when he saw the boy squirming in fear, gasping and shivering when he tried to hold him.
He knew the wolf didn't trust his own mate.
The boy had completely broken—his wolf and his father were the cause of it.
His past harsh actions towards the omega came to his mind. He fucking failed even as a human.
Though he had a reason for it, a solid one, he was sure that Taehyung wouldn't ever forgive him. There wasn't any way.
The fact that his wolf is sick, his previous mate had died, and that it was the condition that he developed after her death was the reason his deeds was harsh, would remain just a plain and dumb reason. It is just a stupid reason.
Maybe he could've stopped it. He never even knew why and what his wolf did but...
If he had distanced himself when he got to know about his wolf mentally abusing the omega and comparing him to Hyejin, then maybe Taehyung and his wolf would've been in a better state emotionally.
If he was told that Taehyung was his mate earlier. He would've done everything to stop the boy from getting hurt.
He would've even fallen for him much longer and they would've had a much better relationship.
Or if he hadn't ever met Taehyung, then probably the boy would find someone else who is better than him and make that person his mate.
He let out a deep exhale dejectedly, pushing his thoughts away so he can concentrate on Taehyung.
He carefully untied the chains from around his bruised wrist and ankle, not touching him. Venus tried to back away but in the end, he decided to just let Jungkook help him.
He shrieked softly when Jungkook's finger brushed past his hand which made Jungkook lift his in the air immediately, showing that he meant no harm.
Finally, he freed Taehyung by removing the ropes from around his wrist and ankle.
"L-let's go," he said, trying to take the boy's hand into his own, but Venus shook his head and looked away, refusing to have any skin contact with him.
Jungkook felt utterly useless and disheartened, but he knew he will, one day, gain back his omega's trust. He was determined to do so.
He had to do that. His pain, sadness, pent up frustration and promises were of nobody's concern, so he shouldn't be concerned about that too. He shouldn't be self-centered now, as he had to solely focus on his mate.
All that should matter to him now is his second mate's, Taehyung's, feelings, state, health and everything related to him.
Venus struggled to stand up, barely managing to do so. He sobbed when pain spread everywhere in his limbs, still refusing to let Jungkook aid him.
"Pup, please let me help you," Jungkook begs, but Venus shook his head a 'no'.
Jungkook sighed in defeat and removed his hoodie, handing it to the omega to cover his upper body with it so that the bitterly cold night doesn't increase his pain.
Venus looked at him with wide feared eyes for a second, before carefully extending his arm to hold the end of the hoodie, which was far from the elder's hand, then pulling it to himself.
The wolf gulped, staring at the cloth for a while before hugging it, burying his face in it and greedily inhaling the strong scent of forest wood to find the comfort he was longing for.
He accepted the cloth because he knew the cloth couldn't possibly do anything to impair him further.
But he couldn't give Jungkook the permission to hold him or help him out because...
What if he hits me? What if he goes back to worshipping that girl like he used to do?
Venus shook the thought off when Jungkook urged him to come along by murmuring softly that they had to get out quickly before someone caught them.
The trueblood looked at him wearily, with concern, cautiously taking every step, making sure the boy was fine.
The omega was bleeding more because of applying pressure on the wounds by walking, but he still refused to let Jungkook assist him.
They took a lot of time to just get out of the mansion with Jungkook just beside the boy, ready to hold him if in case his legs gave out. Jin did see them leave but didn't go anywhere near as his sudden presence would startle Taehyung.
Taehyung was stumbling with every step while Jungkook took small, slow steps so that his bad condition doesn't worsen.
Venus was standing before the fence wall, looking at it with tired droopy eyes. It was impossible for him to actually climb it and get out of here.
Jungkook let out small pleads for him to stop this and let him carry him to get him out of here, but it all went unheard.
Venus took a step towards the wall, deciding to just climb it himself, but suddenly, his vision started blurring.
His mind spun, knees buckling-- ready to crash on the ground. His vision got hazier. He finally just let himself fall on the floor as he passed out.
Jungkook gasped, quickly coming forward and crouching down beside the delicate and unconscious form of the boy, bringing him to his embrace, cradling him to his chest.
His lower lip wobbled as he pecked Taehyung's bloodied forehead repeatedly as he let fresher tears stream down his cheeks, crying for the nth time that day.
"I'm so sorry, Tae. I regret doing this to you. I regret hurting you, but trust me, I didn't want to do it. Hell, I didn't even do anything... It's all done by Oberon. I think, my wolf didn't want to do such things too. I don't think you will ever understand because I myself don't know anything."
What he did, felt and behaved like was different from Oberon.
That was a fact.
He pecked the crown of his head again before standing up and lifting him bridal style.
He managed to hold him tightly, with one hand wrapped around his waist as he climbed up the wall with the aid of the other free one.
He got Taehyung to his car and lay him down in the backseat before driving back home at a fast speed.
He called a doctor while driving. When he reached home, he carefully carried the omega to the washroom before removing all his clothes and putting him in the bathtub, washing the dried blood of his body with cold water.
He felt terribly hurt, feeling the urge to throw up. He refused to tend to his urges at the moment and concentrated completely on the boy.
Soon enough, the doctor was here.
I won't let anything like this happen to him again. I-I will do anything to keep him safe and get him cheery and happy again.
It doesn't matter how long it takes to make him realise that I really want to try and be a good mate. I will do whatever it takes.
His throat became dry as the doctor treated the omega's wounds while mumbling that he has lost a lot of blood.
The doctor applied pressure on the wounds with a clean cloth, stopping further blood from flowing and sighed gladly after a while when he noticed that the condition was getting better.
The huge bruises were healing slowly which was a surprise, as it took very long for the wounds of an omega to heal.
A frown was etched on the doctor's face as he mumbled,
"It wouldn't be possible for an omega to survive this. It seems like he was already very used to being hit like this, and so, even though his condition is bad, it's still much better than it should be for a normal omega..."
Jungkook gulped harshly, looking down in guilt. He couldn't speak, was too distressed to do so.
"His mate?" he asks Jungkook who nods immediately, feeling mild content on being called the boy's mate.
"Stay with him. Your presence will help him heal," The doctor said and that was what exactly what Jungkook did.
He stayed with him for hours together. He brought fresh clothes of his own and dressed the omega up before placed more of his clothes around Taehyung, knowing that omegas do this during heats to calm themselves. He hoped that nesting will help now too.
He lay beside him, hesitant to hold him but did it anyway because he had to make him feel better.
He was awake for a really long time, mind alert and active as he thought about everything that has happened to them.
His eyes drooped when he was close to falling asleep, but it snapped back open when he felt Taehyung stir against him, letting out a soft sound of displeasure.
He broke away a little and saw as the omega fluttered his eyes open, eyebrows furrowed.
The trueblood's eyes met with mesmerizing beautiful brown eyes which were no more blue in colour. He looked at those pretty eyes which he missed terribly.
