Third-person pov

Taehyung was back to feeling terribly lonely. He has felt that emotion for most of his life. It was cruel of his fate and the moon goddess to make him feel the emotion he hates the most.

Jungkook barely spoke to him, and Jimin, he stopped coming here because of Jungkook.

It was a few days ago when Jungkook came back home from work to find Jimin and Taehyung giggling and speaking, obnoxiously loud.

Jungkook had gotten pale after listening to them and looking at them. The voice and words of theirs got lost before it could reach his ears.

All he could remember was the way Jimin had yelled at Sangmi that he is in the mansion because he had called them there. It filled him with horror as the events when he was hit came back to his mind.

He was supposed to be a strong trueblood.

He was a broken, suffering one.

Seeing Jimin at his house made him feel like they were making fun of his weak, worthless state again like he did in the past.

It wasn't true. It was just his mind and his past messing him up again.

But he couldn't ignore how bad and pathetic it made him feel. He tried tot tell himself that what he's thinking isn't true, but his mind forced him to believe it was true.

It boiled his blood; he hated having anybody here, at his home. This was the cause of it. It was just because they were at his house, and he was way too sensitive about this place, his home.

It was because every unfortunate thing that happened to him was when he was in a place he considered "home" as a child.

When he was young, he considered the demon's wolf mansion as the dearest place of his.

When he left that place, this building he made for himself became that dearest place. Coming to this place, where he has been living all alone, and finding people laughing took his traumatized self directly back to the time when he was getting abused and the rest would laugh.

They all enjoyed seeing him hurt. A strong trueblood who cried while being hit... it satisfied their proud selves even if he was just a child.

Especially Jimin.

All Jimin had done when they were young was put him in trouble even after knowing that it hurts him to get abused.

He was someone who, Jungkook thought, loved seeing him hurt.

He had pushed everybody away long ago, even Hoseok and Yoongi who were genuinely worried for him. He couldn't help it. It just had to be that way because he didn't want them hurt.

Them being near made him feel weak, and he and his wolf didn't want that.

Somehow, Taehyung's presence didn't affect him much. Maybe it was because the younger didn't have a special relationship with him or because he didn't even notice Taehyung's presence most of the time.

Or more like, he forced himself to not acknowledge him because he didn't want to feel bothered.

If he did feel bothered, it wouldn't be good for Taehyung. His anger issues were really bad. His wolf didn't seem to like the omega too.

He had rudely told Jimin to leave the other day and that if he dared to come back to his house, then he'd make sure to send Taehyung away along with him.

He even told Taehyung to stop calling people to his house because he didn't have the right to do that. It wasn't his house after all.

This house, his things and everything here meant a lot to him. He had many memories here and if anything goes wrong here, it might trigger something in him and make him act like a demon.

If Taehyung did want to meet Jimin then they could go out and meet up or do something like that.

Why here?

Whenever he did speak to the omega, it came out harsh and rude. That's how he was. That's how he spoke.

His words and his harsh tone broke Taehyung's heart. His mate's everything was supposed to be his, but Jungkook had so harshly told him that the house wasn't even his.

But he had already forgiven him because he has given Jungkook his heart.

He had sworn to himself to love only him, but the elder never noticed all this.

The memory of the first day here was etched in Taehyung's mind. He remembered the way Oberon had treated him and had lost his mind, but he, again, forgave him just because he loved him.

Taehyung kept trying to gain Jungkook's attention by doing work perfectly or by making small attempts of talking to him, but all he got in response was hums or ignorance from the ravenette.

It hurt him a lot when he would try to speak to him and he would just ignore everything he did.

He would try to wear good looking clothes and tidy his hair to make himself look cute or attractive, but Jungkook wouldn't even spare him a glance.

He would cook delicious food, but the trueblood never praised him for anything.

All his efforts were always in vain.

It was severely cold that night as it was winter and he was sleeping on the floor. Jungkook usually never ate dinner but would eat a lot in the morning.

Taehyung, unfortunately, didn't get up at the right time that morning--around six--probably because it was still really dark and the sun hadn't risen yet. He depended on the rays of the sun for waking up.

He lay cuddled up on the cold floor, blanket draped on him, deep asleep.

---------

Jungkook was woken up with the loud ringtone of his phone. He groaned and grumbled under his breath, reaching his hand out to grab the phone before picking up the call.

"Son," he grew terribly annoyed that it was his stupid father. He growled in response.

Jungho chuckles before saying, "Good morning. You remember you have to come here today, right?"

"Why the fuck would I go there?" he growls.

"Oh, I don't like your language! But you need to get your fucking ass here because I have some work which you have to do. You do know what'll happen if you don't come, right?"

He knew it. Very well. That cruel man would send to his house the heads of about three dead people after giving them a punishment for his "mistake" of not going there.

He hated it when Jungho just went around and killed people like they are mosquitoes.

"Fuck you," was all Jungkook said before he cut the call. He got up, his empty stomach grumbling.

He wanted to go down right at that moment and eat the warm food which Taehyung would be cooking. He utterly loved the delicious food which the boy made.

Well, he never asked Taehyung to make it and was very well capable of making stuff for himself, but Taehyung just took the responsibility on himself so he didn't try to stop him.

He didn't try to understand what the younger was trying to do when making these efforts to impress him.

He took it as deeds of gratefulness as he had let the boy stay in his house.

He decided to take a shower first before going down and having breakfast.

He walked down the stairs with the towel draped around his bare shoulder, wearing just trousers that exposed his v-line and strongly defined abs.

His hair dripped with water as he hurriedly made his way to the kitchen.

He was surprised when he sees the empty kitchen. He was already annoyed, and now, he was even more annoyed because the food wasn't even ready yet.

He wondered whether he should just go on and cook for himself but that would take a lot of time to do, and he really needed to leave quickly as he had to go to the mansion and then travel to another pack for work too.

The omega had taken the responsibility to do this work. Why hasn't he made anything yet then?

"Taehyung?!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, the name sliding off his tongue sweetly because he didn't wish to startle the buy.

He mentally noted that this would be the last time he would ask Taehyung for help because it would be only right to stay as far as away from the omega.

That is what he wanted after all.

He called Taehyung again.

It wasn't harsh and rude; he just aimed to get the younger's attention. That's all he wanted. He wouldn't dare to yell at Taehyung. Like hell, he couldn't yell at Taehyung because he was hungry and there was no food ready.

Taehyung wasn't just a fucking slave. He knew that. He believed that.

He wasn't like his worthless father to think of Taehyung as a lowlife and a servant as he received him as a "gift". That's a fucking ridiculous thought to him.

He just needed some help from Taehyung right now and he understood if the younger refused to do it.

He had himself asked Taehyung to stay away from him and his business, after all, so it wasn't a big deal if Taehyung just yelled at him and told him that he wasn't going to cook food or do any of the housework from then.

"Where are you? Why haven't you made anything today?" He asked, frowning slightly, worried because he wasn't getting a reply.

Taehyung jerked awake from a deep sleep when he heard the yells. His eyes land on the clock and widen when he sees the time. It was nine in the morning. He usually gets up by six.

He stumbles out of the room, running downstairs, skipping a few steps. He found a frowning Jungkook as soon as he entered the kitchen.

He bowed apologetically, again and again as he said, "I'm sorry, really sorry. I didn't know the time...i-I--"

"Stop behaving like that," Jungkook frowned, wondering why the younger was bowing at him like he was superior or something.

"It's okay. Just please make something quickly. I need to go somewhere," Jungkook mutters in a pleading tone, sighing.

Jungkook thought that he didn't see the omega as anything at all. But if you'd ask his heart to describe what the boy is for him then it would reply: 'a person whose scent calms me down'.

Jungkook got a call again and left the kitchen to pick up the call, frown deepening when he noticed how Taehyung was frantically bringing out all the vegetables from the fridge with shaking hands, like as if he's really scared.

"Hello?" He turned his attention back to the person who called him.

"Kook, it's me. Heard Jungho called you today, Are you going?"

"Do I have a choice, Hoseok hyung? I have to go. He's been calling me like this repeatedly for no reason. I'll just go there and then be given some shit papers which have nothing important in them.''

"That man really is stubborn, huh? Why does he even make you do all that?"

"I don't know but what I do know is that I'm not just gonna do what he wants me to. I wouldn't go when he calls me there but..."

Hoseok grunts in response as he knew what Jungkook was talking about.

"Anyway... How are you doing? It's been a while since I visited so I was wondering if I cou--"

"Don't come, hyung," Jungkook said immediately, denying to let Hoseok come. He didn't like it. He hated it. "I'm completely fine."

"We miss you," Hoseok's said sadly. "Yoongi waned to come and meet you."

Jungkook denied him again, reasoning that he was busy and has a lot of work to do.

He chose not to tell Hoseok that he had someone at home because he knew the alpha would make a fuss to meet Taehyung then.

They continue talking for a lot of time until Jungkook heard a crashing sound from the kitchen, the loud sound startling him.

He abruptly cut the call, ignoring Hoseok who was asking him worried questions about what happened and went back into the room to find Taehyung letting out a strangled sob as he examined his now cut finger, a plate fallen on the floor

"Oh god," Jungkook gasps, eyes widening. He took quick steps to him, examining the crying boy with panic swimming in his eyes.

He goes forward and holds Taehyung's hand softly. He pulled him towards the sink, turning on the tap and letting the cold water fall on the wound.

Jungkook's eyebrows were furrowed as he watched the red water flow down the sink. He bit on his lower lip because of how bad the younger was bleeding.

"Why are you so careless?" He asks in a whisper, eyes fixed on his wounds. He regretted asking Taehyung for help now.

Taehyung, surprisingly, pulled his hand away and muttered a scared, "I... I'll go complete cooking."

The omega didn't want to make him upset. Cooking, cleaning the house and house work like this was all he could even do and was still failing to do it properly.

Jungkook looked a little worried as the ethereal boy got back to cutting vegetables and stirring the soup which had steam coming out of it because it was really hot.

Taehyung's hands were shaking terribly, fortunately not bleeding anymore.

The sight just reminded Jungkook of a very similar memory, a one etched in his mind.

He gritted his teeth as he stared at Taehyung's body; he was imagining him as someone else, almost hallucinating.

The happy and joyous sounds could be heard again, and he was having a hard time to not break down.

He didn't understand why he had started to hallucinate again. He was sure that it had stopped two years ago.

The same thing happened the night when Taehyung had first come here.

He had woken up from a nightmare and seen a hallucination of being comforted.

Oh, how much he loved those moments when he could experience a long lost emotion again and feel the presence of someone oh, so precious to him.

But he knew it wasn't real. It was just something his head made up so he could experience those moments which he strives for.

It was just an hallucination.

His wolf had taken over that night and had thrown a glass on the floor, in anger.

That was something new as Oberon would never take over when he was having a hallucination. Actually, the wolf wouldn't even know what he was doing most of the time because hey had lost connection and were similar to two different individuals at this point.

They couldn't speak to each other. They couldn't understand each other's thought. They couldn't feel each other's feelings.

And it was a very rare instance for Jungkook to even know what the wolf did after taking over.

He gasps inaudibly, his wolf stirred in him violently, suddenly taking over again.

Oberon growled threateningly at Taehyung who immediately stopped his actions, choking out a sob, startled by Oberon's sudden appearance.

"Didn't I tell you to stop acting like her?!" Oberon yelled, the poor boy flinching in fear and taking a step back.

"A-alpha... I didn't--"

"Shut up!" he growled and took long strides towards the shaking boy and grabbed him by his shoulder, fingers digging in him just enough to not hurt him.

Taehyung yelped. He stared wide-eyed as the fuming wolf grabbed a cup from the kitchen slab and took a little of the steaming hot soup which he was cooking earlier, bringing it near his face.

He attempted to put the steaming liquid in his mouth by force but halted when Taehyung screamed out a plead to stop. The wolf's eyes widened in shock at his own actions.

He dropped the glass on his own feet, not even flinching when the liquid burnt his skin.

Taehyung's scream came out muffled as he pressed his hands near his mouth. The omega sank to his feet and hugged his feet close to himself, scared out of wits because of what was going to happen to him.

Oberon looked at him with wide eyes, clasping his trembling hands behind his back.

Oberon watched the scene of Taehyung shivering in fear for a few seconds before letting out a shaky breath and handed Jungkook the control over the body again.

Why did he do that? What was the reason he stopped?

What was the reason behind him doing it? His other half, Jungkook, didn't know himself.

Jungkook almost screamed when he saw the omega on the floor, crying. His eyes widen as soon as he sees Taehyung's state.

"Taehyung?!" He yelled, going towards the still screaming boy with his own hands trembling in fear and shock.

Taehyung looked like he was close to passing out, breaths so shallow and afraid that he looked like he was going to have a panic attack.

Jungkook frantically got up and ran to get cold water from the fridge, wondering if that would even help.

His heart was beating way too fast, guilt flooding in him because his wolf had hurt the younger.

This was what he dreaded. Why the fuck did Oberon do this? It seemed like a deliberate move to hurt Taehyung according to Jungkook, but he didn't know what was the truth.

He couldn't even do anything about it. His wolf had lost all connections with him, and he couldn't even understand what the wolf was thinking.

Neither could he ask him why he did this.

His wolf had done this to many people, but yet he never felt this bad.

He got back to the boy who flinched away from him, refusing to let him come near or help him.

He bit down on his lip guiltily, gulping harshly.

'why would you do such a thing?!' he asked his wolf, and got no reply, like always.

Is his condition worsening? Is because of Taehyung that he's beginning to behave like this again?

He softly placed the glass of water on the ground and looked at Taehyung with sad and guilty eyes.

He stood up and turned around to leave. His heart hurt as he continued to hear the painful sobs and whimpers of the boy.

I'm sorry. So so sorry.

He wanted to send the younger away now. He wanted to just ask him to leave because he knew that Oberon dislikes him and would continue to abuse him if he stayed.

Making him leave was the best thing to do.

But he didn't have a choice to do so. If he asked Taehyung to leave then Jungho would hunt him down and kill him, claiming that he has dared to go against his master, Jungho's, orders by leaving Jungkook's house.

What was he supposed to do now? He didn't know.

It made him so scared to think that Taehyung would continue being hurt if he stayed here.

Was asking him to leave good?
