Chapter 19: The Second Council Meeting

(Quick A/n. The beginning of this chapter is Logan's PoV. Just wanted to tell you so it doesn't get confusing. Now onto the chapter!)

Logan rode the elevator up to Thomas' floor. The hospital here wasn't nearly as big as the one back home, but it was still a surprising size for such a small town. Big enough for an elevator to be needed.

Thomas had spent the night with Harper at the hospital. Logan had stayed with Bailey and Hayden to keep them company, though it meant missing his flight. It didn't really matter to him though. While he did miss his home and girlfriend, there was something about this town that was rather cozy. Besides, leaving probably meant not seeing Harper or her siblings for another 5 years, which was way to much time.

The elevator dinged to signify its stopping before the door slowly slid open. Almost hesitantly, he stepped off and into the hall. Logan had never liked the hospital smell. It brought back too many bad memories. But he wanted to make sure Thomas was okay.

Hayden had been dying to visit Thomas. Logan had reluctantly made him go to school with Bailey's help, though they promised that Bailey would take him to the hospital right after. It made sense that he wanted to check on his brother, but they couldn't just pull him from normal life. Harper wouldn't have.

Technically, Thomas was completely fine. Harper had called and told them that. The hospital just wanted to keep him overnight just in case something happened, and Harper refused to leave. She hadn't given any updates since then, but she probably would've said something if things got worse.

After what felt like hours, Logan arrived at Thomas' room. Slowly, he knocked on the door, but no one replied. Hesitantly, he pushed it open and smiled as he looked inside. Both Harper and Thomas were asleep, with Harper sitting in a chair beside Thomas' bed, her arms wrapped around his shoulders while his head rested on hers. It was rather adorable, in reality. But unfortunately, it couldn't stay that way.

"Harper?" Logan whispered, walking towards them, his smile slightly growing. He knelt down beside Harper's chair and gently shook her shoulder, "Hey. Harper...." his smile wavered, "Harper?" Harper didn't move. She didn't respond to anything. His eyes widened, and he quickly ran out the door.

________ (time for Harper again)____

"Well, well, well. Look who finally came back for a visit."

She pushed her hair out of her face, glaring at the boy. "I told you not to bring me back," she growled.

"You did. But listen sweetheart. I," he gestured at himself and then all around him, "Don't control this! Any of it!" He laughed quietly, "I'm not the one bringing you back here. That would be you."

"Great. Thanks for making me feel so much better, Raven."

"My pleasure. Now, as I'm supposed to do, I'll have to ask you what you remember from last time."

She rolled her eyes, "Well, you've got your name-"

"A very nice thing to remember indeed."

"...And the Council-"

"I'm afraid that was probably a few times ago, but that doesn't matter. Go on."

She sighed, "And that you told me I had to STAY HERE FOREVER!"

"Of course. What did you expect? For you to be able to come and go as you please?"

"Kinda yeah."

Raven ran a hand through his hair, "Listen. I don't make the rules. That's Her job. But the Council said that my job is to make sure everyone follows said rules. And one of these said rules is that I need to take you to the Council again."

"Whatever. It's not going to be much worse than last time."

Raven grinned, "Well, now look who's actually listening for once! Come on, sweetheart!"

"Have I never told you to NOT call me pet names?"

"Nope! Never heard you say that before!"

"Well, I'm saying it now. STOP IT."

"Alright, princess! I'll stop."

"I hate you."

"Nah, you love me."

"I really don't."

Raven shrugged, "We'll see."

They walking in silence towards the city floating over the vast void of nothingness. Nothing but stars. Before the city had seemed beautiful, but now the clumps of earth falling from the bottom made her nervous. The city could never support itself as fast as the support's pieces were falling away. Soon, the city itself would fall into the void. Then, everything–and everyone– would be lost.

Again she entered the Council building. The room looked the same as before, with its high ceilings and broad pillars, but it didn't seem as magnificent. The mosaic on the floor looked too old, and the 5 Council members there looked too young. Raven led the way to the center.

"Your back," the girl with the dark hair and glasses pointed out-which was rather unnecessary, "Do you remember more?"

She laughed quietly, "Oh gee, I wonder."

The boy with dark, curly hair narrowed his eyes at Raven, "What did you tell her?"

"Nothing!" Raven insisted, "I swear I said nothing Edge!"

"Edge" leaned back, "Then what does she know?"

"Too much," the girl with partially shaved hair answered for him.

"And what do you suppose we do about that, 'Koda?" A boy who she didn't recognize asked. His hair was light, though the weird blond made the hair above his eyes slightly lighter, "Do we go up to Her and say, 'Oh yeah, here's a person who knows too much. Can you take away her memories again?"

"Again?!?" She asked, startled, "What do you mean, 'Again'?!?"

"Look what you've done, Ethan!" Another, slightly bigger girl asked. Her black hair fell far down her back, with a single strip of blonde framing her face, "You can't talk about these things in front of people! Especially the Living!"

"The Living?!? Of course I'm alive!" She exclaimed, frantically looking between the five Council members present, "You can't all be dead! That's not possible!"

"See Kate? You're not much better than I am." Ethan smirked, crossing his arms as Kate pouted.

"Ethan, Kate, both of you shut up right now," 'Koda' –whatever that meant– said sternly, "Grace, check in with Her. I wanna know what She thinks."

"Alright," Grace said, nodding. The four remaining Council members glared at each other, though 'Koda and Edge held hands.

"Until Grace returns, Raven, talk with Leo about a place to for our guest to stay." Edge said, kicking his feet up on the ledge in front of him and grinning when she slapped his arm. If she wasn't in a possibility life or death situation, she'd think they were a cute couple. Of course, they may also try to kill her, which wasn't a very cute thought.

Raven immediately left to do as Edge said, and soon the room was fairly quiet except for light chatter. Edge and 'Koda whispered and laughed with each other while Kate and Ethan quietly argued about a wide variety of things. It went on like this for a while, until both Raven and then Grace finally came back. "Well?" Kate asked as 'Koda pushed Edge's feet off the ledge, annoyed.

"She..." Grace hesitated, "She doesn't know."

"...Excuse me?" 'Koda asked.

"That's what she said. She doesn't know. She said..." Grace looked down at her, "She said you're over 10 years too late."

Look!!! I published a chapter!!! On a weekday!!!! Aren't you proud of me??? No? Well, I am!

So, we learned the names/nicknames of some of the Council members! That's cool... What do you think will happen next? I just want to see. I like feedback XD

Also, how'd you like Logan's little section? There may be a few more of these in the future since most of Harper's stuff will be in the dream-city-place-thing. Soooo.... yeah.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'll see y'all later! Bye!
