Chapter 54
Zara's POV
Now, why am I getting sad when I myself make him leave me? What does he mean by forever? It means he will divorce me and will never meet me again. I still remember how much my heart explodes with happiness when he has stroke my cheek, a way for me to infer he is really there; in front of me. And now he will never come back. Never!
I wipe my face with the back of my palm. What if he is still there. A hope arises in my heart and I hastily open the door. I peek here and there, while I am still inside the confines of the room. There is pure silence except for the timely chirping of Aila's blue sparrow. No one is there not even Aila. I wonder where has she gone without telling me.
I come out of the room and go into the lounge. The first thing, my eyes glimpse is the same blue sparrow. I lazily walk near its cage; hanging from the roof till the base of a special cemented boundary made exclusively for the bird. Its feathers have so many colors, with the most dominant one being the royal blue. How beautiful it is! I take a few rice beans from the pot placed just below the cage and put it inside the cage. A smile appears on my lips when the sparrow quickly eats the beans. How cute!
I flinch when the main door bangs so hardly as someone has broken it. Maybe I am so invested in the sparrow and its cute sounds, that I get extra startled. Who can it be? Perhaps its Aila. With that thought in mind, I head towards outside.
The blazing rays of the sunlight whack against my body as soon as I get away from the cold shadow of the roof. I hesitate for a moment before opening the maroon aluminum door. I gaze around but there is no one outside. How come then the door gets banged so brutely? Maybe it is some naughty children who have done this.
I am about to close the door when I feel being pulled away by someone's strong hands on my waist. I try to shout but that only leads to that someone shutting my mouth with the help of a broad hand. I try to shove the hand on my waist aside but all in vain. That someone just increases his grip on both my waist and mouth. I wiggle my head to see who is the person behind it, but he has his head facing in the opposite direction, hiding his face from me.
"Mmm..." I try to speak the voice gets muffled due to the hand on my lips.
Am I getting kidnaped?
He pushes me along with him but I tighten my feet on the ground and bite the inside of his hand. Within a blink of an eye, he removes his hand. I breathe heavily as soon as my mouth gets freed.
"Ouch..."
I look back at the person with surprise when I hear a familiar voice. I get near him and my eyes widen seeing who he actually is!
Armaan.
"You?" I yell.
"You feisty cat, look what have you done? You have teeth or cutters?" He blows on his hand which is bleeding due to my biting.
"And what the hell did you just do? You scared the hell out of me." I hit his arm.
"Because that stupid tongue of yours wasn't letting me act humanely towards you so I need to do that." He grabs my hand and drags me along with him, towards his car
"What do you think you are doing? Leave me, " I yell as I slap his strong hand on my arm.
He opens the front door of the car and twists me in front of it.
"Get inside quickly, " he orders.
"I won't. What do you want from me?"
"Answers. If you think I will let you go without having the answer to why did you ignore me then that won't happen. Now get inside," he says in a low voice, completely opposite of me.
"And do you think I will go with you? Never." I remove his hand from my wrist and rushes back but he again grabs my arm.
"You jerk! I will shout and tell people you are kidnapping me," I try to punch his chest.
He chuckles at this making me glare at him, "you will say your husband is kidnapping you? Wow!"
"Help me some..." Before I can complete, he again covers my mouth with his hand.
"Have you lost your mind, Zara?" He whispers sternly against my ear.
This time, he succeeds in making me sit inside the car. At the same time, he locks the door of my side. I slam the door with my fists, then try to break the lock. When nothing works, I look at him helplessly who has already got inside and about to start the car.
"Tie the seatbelt, girl," he points out while looking at me.
"Unlock the car right now," I stress every word, completely ignoring what has he said a while ago.
"You are so stubborn," he sighs and bends towards me.
As soon as he comes closer to me, I drag myself away from him, barely making myself stick to the door. He looks into my face as his hand grabs the seatbelt and pulls it in front of my body. My breath hitches when his hand touches my stomach area.
He leans near to my face, his eyes never leaving mine, "but I can't help. I love this stubbornness of yours," he whispers as he clasps the seat belt.
"Why are you doing this to me?" I ask in anger.
"I think I had made myself clear. Hadn't I?" He replies as he goes back to his place.
"And I have told you many times that what you are thinking is not the case. I don't have any reason to ignore you. Aila is my friend, do I really need a reason to meet her?"
"I am still not convinced," he mumbles as he starts the car.
"Then that's not my bloody problem," I yell.
He peeks at me with a vexed look on his face but doesn't say anything which fuels my anger. I open my mouth to say something but shut it right after as I grit my teeth in fury. I slam my fists hard on my lap and turn towards the door again. I push it with my hand despite knowing I won't be able to open it.
"Stop doing this Zara. You will hurt yourself."
I face towards him and seeing a satisfactory expression on his face, I glare at him, "since when you started worrying about me? Because what you are doing right now is hurting me more than anything else."
"And what about the hurt you are giving me?" He twists the gear towards the right side.
I squint my eyes in confusion, "when did I hurt you?"
A smirk crosses his lips as soon as I ask him.
"You have made my life difficult. Because of you, I am unable to live peacefully. Because of you, I am unrest, not happy at all and you are asking when did you hurt me," he blurts.
"I have done none of this. Shouldn't your girlfriend be accountable for all of this? Isn't she giving you that peace and happiness? Why are you blaming me? I don't even care for your so-called happiness and peace. Do you understand?" I assert.
He again doesn't say anything. So his long lost ignore mode has become on. What I don't reckon at this time is that he clutch his lower lip under his teeth, perhaps to control a laugh.
I divert my gaze from him to the glassy window of my side. My eyebrows lift in uncertainty seeing an unknown area outside.
"Where are you taking me to?" I ask him.
"That depends on you." He shrugs his shoulder.
"What do you mean?"
"I will let you go as soon as I will get my answer. And I can assure you, after that, I won't bother you again." He explains.
"So will you mind telling me why did you ignore me back then?" He looks at me with full attention.
I sigh in disappointment. Why is he so eager to know this? But I will rather die than to tell him the real thing.
"I have told you what was there. Now it's not my headache if you believe it or not. And it's enough already. Stop the car." I try to grab the steering wheel but this only results in him being tugging my hand and pushing me behind.
"I have told you, Zara. Tell me the reason and I will stop the car right now," he says as he leans towards me.
"I won't!" I shout in his face.
"Fine then. Let's get you on a long drive today. We may end up going to another city," he retorts while smiling as he goes back to his initial position.
"Fine with me too. Let's see till how long you can continue with this play." I lean back on the seat and cross my arms on my chest.
I turn my face away from him as my eyes scan the sight behind the glass window. He calls me stubborn when in reality, he does exactly the same thing. what will I say to Aila? She may be getting worried about my absence. I don't even have a phone to tell her.
"Till you will tell me the actual thing."
I come out of my thoughts when I hear his ironic voice. I glance at him who is already looking at me with a smug look. I just roll my eyes.
He and his high thoughts!
I again start looking out. The sunlight is directly pouring on my face, irritating my eyes which spurs me to move away. I cover my eyes with my hand and close them. A sudden jerk makes me open my eyes. The car has stopped abruptly. Why has Armaan stopped it? I look at him when he mumbles shit and slams his hand hard on the starring.
I get up to see the long trail of cars which actually prompts him to stop the car. Suddenly my gaze lowers down to the lock of my seat. My eyes glisten in surprise noticing the lock has got pushed up.
It's perhaps unlocked!
A smile appears on my lips reckoning it is unlocked for real. It may get unlocked when the car suddenly stopped due to the traffic ahead. Armaan may haven't noticed it. I glimpse at him with my side-eyes. I put a hand on my swiftly beating heart. I take a deep breath prior to looking back at him. Seeing his eyes fixed on the front, I cautiously open the door, prudent to not make a sound.
