It was Monday and I'm just entering the school compound,I saw Chi Chi and I ran to hug her

"Chi Chi! Oh my God,you have fully recovered"I said happily

"As you can see, I missed you so much,how was the weekend"

"It was fine"I said as we walk towards the classes

"Tell me about the birthday party,I can't wait to hear the gist"

"That will be during break time,you know the assembly will start soon"she nodded and we were about to reach the classes and I asked

"Do you know anything about Jaffar and Fawzan?"

"Yeah,they use to be best of friends,why asking?"

"I will explain later,I was just curious anyways"

"Ok,see you later"she said stepping into her class

"Morning!"I heard Fawzan's voice from my back and I startled

I smiled turning to meet his eyes"good morning,how was your night?"

"Terrible"

"Why?"

"The time was slow,I wanted Monday to reach already"

"You are not serious"I chuckled

"You promised to give me your reply today, don't make me cry please,huh?"

"You are not serious"I laughed and he pouted making me to laugh more

"Stop being unserious, please?"

"Fine,I have something to ask you before my reply,we will talk after the assembly"

"Promise"

"Promise"we departed and I went to the class

I saw Jaffar relocating from our seat,he begged Bunmi to exchange seat with him and she agreed,he didn't acknowledge me and went to sit at his new seat

"Hi"Bunmi said

"Hi"

"I'm Wale Bunmi your new seatmate"

"Muhammed Jamilah"we shook hands and I flashed a fake smile,I wasn't comfortable at all I decided to talk with Jaffar

"Why did you leave the seat?"I asked him

"You told me to stay away from you"he replied calmly,his eyes were red and puffy like someone that have been crying for days,he look dull And unlively

"That doesn't mean you should leave the seat,I said that out of anger,you are friend and I'm not ready to loose our friendship"

"I am not your friend!"he shouted and calm his self down after word

"Jamilah just let me be,I can't sit with you while you are happy and I am hurt,it's better we act like we don't know each other and I'm happy for you,I don't have any hard feelings towards you"he said calmly

"But"he cuts me off

"No buts,I was the one who made a mistake, don't worry I'm fine just go, please go"he pleaded and I nodded leaving him alone

I went to the hall for the assembly and i sat with Chi Chi,I felt bad about what happened

"What's wrong with you"Chi Chi asked after couple of minutes

"I'm fine"

"You are lying Milah, I grew to know you so much that I know when something is amiss,tell me was wrong"

"Jaffar and Fawzan asked me out on thesame day"

"What!, when did that happen?"

"The birthday party,a lot happened on one day,I told Jaffar I don't love him,he should stay away from me that I love Fawzan"

"How could you say that to Jaffar,he have been a good person to you,he is very nice"

"I always knew Fawzan liked me but I was surprise to see Jaffar confess thesame thing"

"You mean you don't know Jaffar likes you,even me that's not in your class knows about it,how many times did you see him associate with any girls in this school not even in his class,he only talks to you because he loves you"

"Are you in support of Jaffar or what?"

"I'm fine with anyone you go with but I prefer Jaffar more"

"I can see,he left our seat"

"Seriously"

"Yes,my new seatmate is Bunmi I'm not comfortable at all"

"Are you sure you don't love Jaffar?"

"He is my friend"

"Keep on deceiving yourself"

"I'm not,I know what I am saying"

The assembly came to an end and we went back to our classes having our first three classes of the day,I wasn't feeling comfortable at all,it felt like a part of me was missing,I missed Jaffar smiles and everything,I glanced at his side many times but he eyes were on the board,he wasn't looking at me

I felt pain,hurt and betrayed

Yes!!

Jaffar betrayed me by ending our friendship and leaving the seat,the bell for break was rang and I wanted to meet him to persuade him for the last time but he immediately stood up from his new seat and left the class

Fawzan approached me smiling and I flash him a fake smile,I don't know why am so bothered about not sitting with Jaffar

"Let's go to our normal hideout"

"Ok"we left the class and went to sit at our usual place

He finally asked after few minutes of silence"what is your reply?"

"Who is Jaffar to you no who was he to you?"I replied his question with a question

"Why are you bringing him up"

"I can't say yes to you if I don't clear what I want to clear"

"He was once my best friend"

"Once your best friend?"he nodded

"How long have you knew him?"

"We grew up together,his mom and my mom were best friends,his mom was my god mother"

"Wow! The relationship was deep"

"Kinda"

"Why did you guys separated?"

"Stop this questions already,what are you driving at?"he look annoyed

"Then forget about being my boyfriend,Jaffar is my friend and I can't have a boyfriend that keeps malice with my friend"

"Fine,he hurt me"

"How?"

"I was involved in an accident when we were in Jss3,he was the first person I called but he never showed up"

"That day?"

"I was in the hospital for three months,he didn't care and when I resumed school,he approached me once and I told him the friendship is over,he just quitted like that without trying to make up with me,he never really took me as a friend"

"Is that why you guys stopped being friends and not talking?"

"Yes"

"This doesn't make sense at all, except there is something more"

"That's it"

"You have to settle your differences with him"

"I can't do that"

"This is pride Fawzan,if you really want me find a way to settle your differences with him"I said standing up and leaving him alone

Jaffar

I went to a quiet area in the school were most students doesn't like coming to,I sat down on a stone fighting hard not to cry

Why can't I just get over her

Why does it hurt like this

Why can't I be strong

Why am I this weak

I couldn't stop myself from crying again,I decided to leave the school and visit my mom

"Jaffar"Sewa said stepping closer to me

"Not today please,I'm not in the mood"I said leaving her by herself

I went to the class and took my school bag leaving the school,I went to my mom's grave and sit beside it

"Mom"I said placing my head slowly on the grave

"I miss you mom"I started crying"I know if you were here you are going to support me,I don't know why it hurt like this,I feel broken like a huge part of me is gone,I love her mom,I really do love her"I sniff staying quiet for a while

"I want to survive,teach me how to survive mom,I want an independent happiness,I hate the fact my happiness depend on someone,I want to survive"I cried and cried till I could cry no more

Jamilah

"Is that all that happened?"Chi Chi asked after narrating all the story to her

"Yes"

"That's absurd,it's not a reason to end a childhood friendship,there is more to this"

"I feel thesame way Chi Chi,I want to hear Jaffar's part too"

"But you said he doesn't want to speak with you"

"Don't worry,he will get over it soon"

"If you say so but do you think Fawzan will be ready to do what you asked?"

"I don't know honestly"

"Don't let it bother you"

"I won't unless for the part Jaffar doesn't want to speak to me anymore"

"Why should it bother you"

"He is my friend Chi Chi"

"Whatever,you have to be strong anyways"

"Yeah, thanks I will be going back to the class to check on Jaffar"

"Ok,talk to you later"

I went back to the class but he was not in his new seat,I asked his new seat partner Faith but she said he left a while ago I nodded and went back to my seat

Jaffar new seatmate is a girl

I shook my head dismissing the silly thought growing in me,I imagined Jaffar and Faith getting so close like the way we were before,it doesn't sound nice to me and I wouldn't want anyone stealing my position in Jaffar's heart

I believe I only care because he was my friend, nothing more nothing less
