Landry stood in front of the Hand's chamber door with sweaty hands, she raised her fist and knocked gently. "Come in." Otto's booming voice sounded, at least that's what it sounded to her. She nodded towards the guards who just stood there in silence. She resisted huffing and pulled the door open herself, who was she kidding she wasn't important enough for stuff like that.
Otto didn't even look up when she entered the room, they stood in silence for a moment before he finally acknowledged her. "Landry! Thank you for seeing me, we need to talk." Landry's stomach dropped, her head was spinning a mile a minute trying to think of what he wanted to speak about, the other thing she could think of was her being around Rhaenyra but how would Otto know this quickly although she was pretty sure Otto had spies around the Red's Keep.
"Silence, as always." Otto huffed before sliding the papers he was writing on away, he stood up making the chair rock back slightly. "I-" Landry tried to say but was silenced by the hand Otto held out, she didn't get it she either talked too much or not enough, and there was no pleasing her Father. "We need to talk about something, it's time for you to get married."
"What?" Landry's voice broke as she spoke, she knew this day was coming but she didn't know it was going to be so soon. "You heard me, darling, you're going to get married. I have a few people in mind, of course, it's going to be up to me on who you end up marrying. My current favorite is Erwin Lannister, it would be good to align ourselves with the Lannister family." Landry was speechless, she didn't know what to do. "But I don't want to get married." Otto froze, he licked his lips and looked at Landry with distaste. "It doesn't matter what you want, this is going to happen." Landry lifted her hand and touched her necklace in sadness, unfortunately, Otto saw. "Where did you get that necklace?"
Landry pressed her lips together, she could lie but Otto would see right through her. "Rhaenyra gave it to me." Otto scoffed loudly before walking towards her, he grabbed the necklace. It looked like he was admiring it before he grabbed it tightly and ripped it off her neck. "Ow!" Landry rubbed her neck where she was sure a mark was. "You shouldn't have gifts from Rhaenyra, you aren't a handmaiden, you are a nobody. You don't deserve this." Otto fisted the necklace and tossed it into the fire, Landry gasped and held a hand over her mouth.
"Father, it was a nice gesture." Landry tried to defend, Otto scoffed before walking over to his desk and sitting back down. "That's all it was, a gesture. Now where were we... right marriage. We need to start getting you out there, if we play this right we could have anyone from a Stark or even a Lannister to be in the family, wouldn't that be fantastic darling?"
Landry nodded hesitantly, she didn't want to get married but she had to follow her father's orders. "And stop acting like that, start making eye contact too. I've heard people talk, and stop talking to flowers it makes it look like you aren't correct." Otto stated without looking up from his paperwork.
This wasn't new to Landry, she'd heard this all before so she just nodded and resisted the urge to sniffle. She couldn't cry, not yet. That would make her weak and she isn't going to look weak in front of Otto that's one thing she learned from a young age. It didn't matter if her feelings were hurt, she just had to be let hurt.
