Chapter 7
Warning: There are themes of violence
Bendy POV
I sat in the passenger side of the car as I looked around at the beautiful city.
"I always thought, that back in college you'd come here with me, but not 8 years later" Felix told me as I looked over at him smiling a bit.
"Well if I had known how pretty it was" I giggle as he looked back at me.
"Wow! This place really sparkles!" Gracie exclaimed leaning forward from the back seat. Felix's car was a convertible so the top was down and the whole outside world was visible.
"You know what they call it? Emerald City." He told her as she looked at me.
"Isn't that where Dorothy is?" She asks me as I glanced back at her smiling a bit.
"No honey, that's where Dorothy goes in her dreams." I tell her. She looked up in thought.
"Oh. But where is she when she wakes up?" She asks as I tell her Kansas. I felt a bit of irony in that towards myself. Since I was in a dream, and when I woke up it was back to this harsh reality of where I was.
"Alright game time, duck your heads!" Felix told us as I looked at Gracie.
"Pigeon poop!" We both screamed ducking our heads as Felix laughed lightly at us. Soon he pulled up to his apartment complex and brought us upstairs to his home. I took Gracie in the shower with me since we were both needing it after this long day. Felix let me wear his bathrobe and gave Gracie one of his large shirts. I sat in the small living room combing her hair as she read a children's book Felix grabbed for her from his large bookshelf. I looked up hearing Felix walk in as he leaned against the entry way.
"Bendy, why'd you come to me?" He asked as I combed another strand of Gracie's hair.
"Well I thought of the last time I felt safe, and I saw your face." I tell him as he smiled with a light blush. It may have been a long time ago, but I still feel those feelings for Felix, and I undoubtedly still loved him. But that's not the only reason I came here.
"And I wanted a place that C-U-P-H-E-A-D wouldn't think of." I say and Felix understood. Gracie knew her fathers name, but not how to spell it. She was still very little anyways.
"And someone stupid enough to do it." He added as I agreed. I may have been a bit out of the ordinary, but I doubted that Cuphead would've thought I'd travel this far. I didn't know if he knew anything of Felix since our whole marriage I never spoke of him. But me and Gracie are safe now, so that's a relief.
"Anyone here like hot fudge sundaes?" He asked as Gracie looked up from her book and got excited.
"Yeah! Me, me-!" I suddenly heard a loud knock as I quickly covered Gracie's mouth looking towards the entrance, Felix did as well. I looked at him and I was able to read he wasn't expecting anyone. I gestured to Gracie we needed to be quiet as I picked her up.
Narrator POV
Felix went to his door hearing another knock. He looked to where Bendy was, waiting a bit hoping they would find a place to hide. There was another knock as Felix looked through his peep-hole.
"Yeah?" He asked loudly.
"FBI, can we talk?" A devil asked holding up a badge, that Felix couldn't really read through the peep-hole.
"Go ahead." Felix tells him feeling anxious about letting him in, and trying to stall for Bendy
"Would you mind letting us in? I'm investigating a kidnapping, I'd just like to take a look around." He told him. Felix looked away from the peep-hole and could no longer see Bendy or Gracie, let alone hear them.
"You got a warrant?" He asked the guy as he put his badge down and held up a piece of paper where he could only make out 'Search Warrant'. Felix moved away from the door feeling a sense of nervousness. He saw the children's book on the couch so he quickly grabbed it.
"Hey. You letting us in or not?" The agent asked as Felix put the book in a random place in his book shelf.
"Hold on a second." He told him as he knew it was obvious since the thin book blended with the mix of other books as well. He went over to his door and opened it letting the man in who quickly put the piece of paper in his coat.
"Can I see the warrant?" Felix asked as he was ignored and two more guys walked in and they immediately spread out looking around.
"Watch the front." Felix heard the devil guy tell the other agent who had a die for a head as he walked past him.
"Who you looking for?" He asked him, but received no answer. Felix heard a lot of banging and slamming going on as he looked in his room and saw the other guy who had a black top hat, as well as a red suit emptying his dresser drawers before throwing it aside. Felix felt annoyed as they were only making a huge mess and breaking his belongings.
"Mister! Unless you leave right now, I'm calling the police." He told the guy with the die head who paid no attention to him.
"Gee that's a scary thought." He replied in a sarcastic tone. Felix now becoming slightly angry, went and grabbed his phone as he began to dial 911. But before he could punch in the second number, the guy in the purple suit grabbed his phone from his hands and gave him a pissed off look.
"I married a cop, I don't need that bullshit right now." He told him as he moved away taking the phone with him. Felix huffed slightly as he looked at the man. He could hear the other guy with the top hat still slamming things as he saw him move towards the window at the end of the hall which connected to his kitchen. He saw the man try to pry open the window and Felix looked towards where his legs were. Behind the square pattern of what was supposed to be a small shelf that was connected to the wall, he could see Bendy and Gracie hiding in the small compartment of the shelf, that wasn't supposed to be used. He could see Bendy's fearful eyes through the square patterns which was the barrier between their hiding spot, and the outside of it where this man was. Felix walked towards him hearing him almost force his window open.
"That's enough! You hear me? It's time to go. NOW!" He yelled as the guy turned towards him and Felix raised his hands showing he didn't want to fight. It was to obvious now considering professional officers don't act like this.
"Look, you're not FBI, I know who sent you." He said as the guy behind him with die head, put the blade of a pocket knife against his throat and Felix went still. In the small compartment of the shelf, Bendy covered Gracie's eyes as they watched what was happening out in the room.
"Oh yeah? Do you know what it's like for a knife to hit your trachea?" He asked Felix as he brisked the knife along his throat.
"No sir. I don't." He said obviously nervous, but there was no sound of it in his voice.
"Do you know what it's like to die because you're really stupid?" He asked him turning his face slightly towards him with the blade now against his lower jaw going back towards his throat. Bendy watching the whole thing feeling more and more scared as Gracie's little whimpers were only heard by them thankfully.
"No I-I don't." He replied as the sound of the door opening was audible.
"KD!" The sound of the devil guy's voice was heard calling towards the man with the blade against Felix's throat. The devil guy stepped in front of him and Felix with a stern look.
"This was not listed on the program. Come on, they're not here let's go." He said as KD looked at him disappointed.
"Can't I just-?" The devil guy interrupted him immediately.
"No! Not. Today." He said as KD pulled his knife away from Felix's throat and the three of them walked towards the door to the apartment. KD stopped and looked towards Felix.
"Hey, your phone." He said as he tossed Felix's phone at him, catching it.
"Night, KD" He said emphasizing the nickname as KD looked at him with a pissed look as the devil guy shook his head and walked out the apartment. KD did too, but not after knocking down the fragile things on his book shelf and cutting along the back of his sofa causing the fluff to fall out. He put his knife away and gave a wave goodbye as Felix gave him an annoyed looked that screamed him saying 'really?'. Once they were gone and Felix heard them getting into the elevator near by his apartment door, he quickly went over and pried off the square patterned barrier on the shelf. The sound of Gracie's poor cries escaped as Bendy got out holding holding Gracie in their arms.
"Are you okay?" Bendy asked as he examined Felix neck who rubbed Gracie's back trying to reassure him he was fine.
"I'm good, I needed a shave anyway." He said trying to lighten the situation for Gracie having her cries soon calmed down as she clung to Bendy.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't be here." Bendy said walking back to the living room as Felix tried to argue with that accusation.
"What are you talking about. Of course you shou-" Bendy cut him off looking back at him.
"No! Look I can't keep putting the people I love in danger." Bendy told him.
"What danger? They killed my sofa." He said in an ironic voice as his phone rang making Bendy on edge as they held Gracie protectively looking around. Felix looked at his phone, but didn't recognize the number as he answered.
"Hello?" He asked as Bendy looked over at him wanting to know who it was.
"Felix. This is Cuphead." Cuphead's voice came over on the other line as Felix looked at Bendy. He mouthed his name as Bendy figured out who he was talking about.
"Yes, hello Cuphead. How are you?" He asked in a laid back voice as if the events from earlier never occured.
"I assume Bendy's called?" He asked getting straight to his point as Felix went to his fridge and grabbed a small ice cream carton for Gracie. Bendy stood beside him holding her still as they looked at him.
"Yeah of course." He said rolling his eyes as he set the ice cream down on the kitchen table and Bendy set Gracie down to let her eat the ice cream.
"Well could you give her a message? If she calls back I mean." Cuphead asked over the phone as Felix walked back to the hall as Bendy situated Gracie with her treat.
"I don't know. I'm on her side, not yours." Felix told him as Cuphead let out a small laugh.
"Her side?"
"Well what'd you expect Cuphead, really?" Felix asked as Bendy walked over after giving Gracie a small kiss on the cheek.
"Come on Felix, you're a smart guy. Let me say two words for you 'kay? Lug nuts." He said as Felix put the phone between both him and Bendy as they listened to Cuphead.
"You don't want to worry they're lose every time you pull onto the freeway. How about the windows in your home, are they still locked? A person could go crazy thinking about that." Cuphead told him before hanging up. Bendy recognized that calm threatening tone as they looked up at Felix with worried eyes.
That next morning Bendy had Gracie pack her belongings while they were in the other room talking to Felix. Bendy was putting his toiletries into a small bag as they talked.
"What do you think? That those thugs are coming back?" He asked them as they shrugged.
"I don't know. It just doesn't make any difference." They tell him.
"Sure it does." Felix quickly responded. Bendy sighed a bit.
"You don't have to go, they're not coming back tonight." Felix told them trying to convince them to stay as Bendy shook their head.
"You know that it's not safe for you if I stay here." Bendy told him which he knew, he just refused to believe it since he was more concerned about them then anything else. Felix followed them to the room Gracie was in as they helped her finish packing
"Well you can come back any time. Tomorrow, the next day." He told them as Bendy gave him a humorous smile. Felix handed them their clothes as they packed them up.
"Maybe I'll take you up on that offer one day." They told him with a sense of flirt. Felix smiled softly at them before returning to his serious face.
"Where you gonna go? What're you gonna do?" He asked as Bendy looked at him.
