CECELIA OLIVIER IS BACK from the dead. Which is fitting, given her alias; Phantom has never been a more accurate moniker. After taking her last breaths on an alien planet in 2018, she returns five years later to a world that's moved on without her. And though she might not be alone—fifty percent of the universe's population also disappeared when Thanos snapped his fingers, not just her—she's never felt so lonely. Mr. Stark is dead, her baby brother is now a teenager, and she's sharing her home with a new sister, Cora. Everything's different now, and Cecelia isn't exactly sure it's for the better.

Desperately grieving her mentor and the world she used to know, Cecelia falls into a spiral of self-hatred, blaming herself for what transpired the day Mr. Stark died. To make matters worse, she's hounded by reporters searching for the next Iron Man. As if Mr. Stark's legacy was nothing more than a title that could be passed on. 

Not even her biweekly therapy sessions or frequent patrols with Peter do anything to help—especially since she's beginning to feel weird around her friend. Running out of options, Cecelia turns to an upcoming school trip to Europe as a potential way to clear her mind. A week of boating across Venice's canals, eating at fancy bakeries in Paris, and touring castles in Switzerland with her best friends sounds both like absolute bliss and a good opportunity to step back from Phantom.

Unfortunately, nothing in Cecelia's life is that simple. When she and Peter are kidnapped from their vacation, they're forced to face yet another powerful enemy that threatens to devour the world as they know it. But there's something off about it all. And the truth might be more than they've bargained for.

Now, Cecelia must battle what might be the worst villain yet. Because while this latest adversary may not be able to wipe out half the universe with a snap of the fingers or wear the face of someone she thought she loved, he's got the power to dive right into her mind—and make her face all of her grief and shame head-on. 

The question is, once Cecelia gets too submerged in her own feelings, is there even a way to get back to the surface again? Or is she doomed to sink into the ocean of her sorrow forever?

AUTHOR'S NOTE: ahh welcome to part three of cecelia's story!! far from home is still one of my favourite spider-man films of all time (though no way home, the next act, has now made it to number one), and i am so so excited to dive into it. vacation era, baby!!

obviously, though, there is going to be a looooot of angst, too. we all remember when cecelia's mental health got temporarily better, right? well, unfortunately, recovery isn't linear, and this is going to be a step in the wrong direction for her :(( there's a lot of grieving and guilt and self-hatred in this fic, but there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, too. eventually.

(but if somebody said that this fic is a happy little tale, if somebody told you that cecelia was finally going to be able to live as an average ordinary girl, not a care in the world, somebody lied)

this is the petercece book though. just saying. it's going to happen.
