{Yusei's PoV}

I rubbed my eyes and yawned. A quick look at the clock told me that it was already 11 pm. Just a few more pages... and I'm done for the day. Maybe I can try to work on the stuff for tomorrow... gives me a little bit more time if something actually goes wrong or takes longer. I got up and stretched. I need coffee... so I walked out of my small office and into the kitchen. While my coffee machine worked it's magic, I quickly checked my phone for new messages.

As usual I got one from Crow asking if I managed to get a few days off and relax a bit. And as always I answered him no and put away my phone. Rain poured against the window and I listened to the soft sound for a while. Then I grabbed my coffee and went back to work. Thunder grumbles in the distance, but that doesn't bother me much. So with my warm coffee and a new boost of energy I began to work again.

I was so focused on my work that I didn't hear the door open and someone walking up to me. "Y-Yusei?" I turned towards the voice and saw Jaden. He had a blanket wrapped around himself and looked up at me with tired but also scared eyes. His ears were folded back in fear. "P-please... can you... come to bed? I-I can't sleep..." I sighed and turned back towards my computer. "I can't Jaden. I need to get this done." "B-but..." "Just go back to bed and try to sleep. You'll fall asleep eventually."

Next thing I new, Jaden was crying and hiding underneath my desk. Lightning and loud thunder were roaring outside. "Jaden?" I looked under the desk. He was hiding underneath the blanket and was shaking and crying badly. I sighed and saved all my files before turning the computer off. Then I got up and kneeled down so I can gently stroke over his back. "Hey... it's okay... come here. I'll protect you from the storm." Jaden peeked out from under the blanket and then jumped into my arms, burying his face in my chest. I hugged him tightly and wrapped the blanket around him again.

"Shhh... it's okay... I'm here..." I got up and kept his shaking body close to me. Slowly we made our way over to the bedroom and I laid down on the bed together with him. He kept shaking and crying, clinging to me like I would disappear if he lets go. I started to hum softly and stroked over his back. His crying slowly stopped, but he kept shaking.

It took almost two hours until he was fully calm again. His grip on me never left. And I didn't even dare to fall asleep. "Jaden... you need to sleep." He shakes his head and wraps his tail around my waist. "If I fall asleep you'll leave me again... so I stay awake until you are asleep too..." I stared at him for a while. "Are you scared that I will prefer my work over you?" He nods and curls up more against me. "You ignored me ever since you went into that room... You didn't eat dinner... and I had to try and get my food from one of the top shells on my own..."

"Oh Jaden... why didn't you come to get me?" Jaden started to sob again and the shaking came back as well. "B-Because you w-were angry at me! Y-you said I keep y-you from working... a-and that you o-only got stopped from w-working because of me..." Suddenly I realized how harsh my words must have sounded to him... "Jaden... I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you... and I never wanted you to feel like I don't like you... Jaden you mean a lot to me... I promise you do. It's just... my work is really important and a lot of people need my work... that's why I needed to finish it so badly..."

He nodded a bit and his body relaxed a little. "Jaden... no matter how deep in my work I am at the moment, you are always allowed to get me away from it. Especially when I need to eat or sleep... You see... I've always been like this... I get lost in my work so easily that I never realize how much time passes. That's why I don't have a good sleeping schedule or I always forget to eat... my brothers have tried to force me to take breaks... but most of the time I just kept working instead of listening to them."

Jaden looked up at me and tilts his head a bit. "So... I'm... allowed to stop you from working?" "Yes... but please keep in mind that I have deadlines and special work that has a time limit. So I can't be with you all the time..." Jaden nodded and hugged me tightly. "But for now... sleeping time!" I chuckled and pulled a blanket over us. "Alright. Go to sleep then." He yawned and curled up more against me. "Night Yusei..." "Sleep well Jaden..."

Me: Wow... this took way too long. I'm sorry that I'm not updating as much as I used to!

Jaden: Uncreative little...

Yusei: Jaden be nice. It's not her fault.

Me: Thanks!
