It's 4 PM.

Still, no progress.

I tried writing Minamoto-senpai a thank-you letter with gifts; but they called me a 'racoon'.

I tried making Minamoto-senpai lunch; he felt reluctant to eat it.

I wanted to run over him in shoujo manga style; but ran over his brother instead.

I sighed.

"Is there really no way?"

"Hehehe..."

"..."

"Ahaha...."

"..."

"Heehee-"

"Heehee, your ass!" I snapped at Hanako. "Besides, none of these worked, do you really know what you're doing?!"

"I'm not sure." The boy in the gakuran sat on the sink, patting my cat, Ariel.

Yeah, I brought my cat to school.

My hamsters, Black Canyon and White Inferno are too noisy, but sometimes I just miss my pets so much that I wanted to bring Ariel to school. I did. Aoi knows, but thankfully she's being silent about it (Akane and Yamabuki knows too, but Yamabuki agrees to hide Ariel, while Akane is-of course-in the print of Aoi's fingers).

Hanako puts Ariel down and floats upside down in front of my face. "Why don't you just tell him?"

My face flushed. Confessing to Minamoto-senpai? Never in a thousand years. "I- I can't!"

"Come ooon, I'm a newbie for these kind of things. That's the very last thing I can think of." Hanako pleaded.

I gasped. "I- Newbie?!"

"Yeah." Hanako chuckled. "Not a lot can summon me, y'know.'

"I knew something was off! All of your plans are too basic and wholesome!"

"Mhm. That's me, the 'UwU Hanako-san,'" Hanako teased me-but guess I am too pissed to listen to anyone right now. I growled at Hanako.

"I- I also have unwholesome items!" Hanako quickly dug in his pocket. "Where- where is it... ah!"

Hanako pulls out a wooden doll.

"Eh?"

"It's a kokeshi."

"And what does it do?"

"It's. Smexy."

I threw the kokeshi out of the window.

Whilst Hanako screaming at his kokeshi to come back, I sighed, once more. "And I was so sure that I will get my wish..."

Ariel meowed as she walked towards me. Poor girl, having to see such an idiot like Hanako. The tabby cat purrs and headbutts around my ankles, asking for attention. I giggled and patted Ariel.

"You sure have taste, Ariel. You don't care if I have daikon legs."

Then, I saw it.

The scales.

Oh, how I wish I hadn't.

One of Hanako's tsueshiros flew around the bag; it caught my attention. I opened it and picked it's content up. It looks like a thin, transparent silver coin. It's shiny-quite sharp and scaly, oh, how beautiful they are.

"Did Hanako-san dropped this?" I thought. I looked at him. "Hanako-san, what's this?"

Hanako pulled his body back from the window, now looking at me. "Ah; it's the matchmaking..."

"Matchmaking..."

"Wait! Yashiro!" Hanako flew in top speed towards me. "Don't touch it!"

Sadly, I'm speed.

I put the scale in my mouth.

"If you don't tell me what it does, I'll swallow it!"

"Okay! I get it, I get it!" Hanako huffed.

This is my last hope.

"Those are mermaid scales. Those who swallow them will be cursed-but also united with a strong bond-"

United with a strong bond...

I grinned. Hanako does have the right items, after all.

I was about to swallow it.

Right before I gulped, the broom slid down and it's stick landed on my back. I spat the scale out and it shattered on the floor.

Maybe, I should thank the broomstick. I don't know what would happen to me if I swallowed the scale.

Because the next thing that happened was terrifying.

Ariel scooted over to the scales. To think about it, it was my fault. I normally give her some of my lunch to feed her during her school trips. But I used the most of them for Minamoto-senpai's lunch. She must be very hungry right now.

Plus, the shattered scales looks like sequins or shiny cat food.

So, Ariel started munching on the scales...

At once, nothing happened.

But then, scales started growing on her fur...
