Chapter 5: Cute? Since When?!

Marinette smiled as she cuddled into her cat pillow, all her stress from the day relieving as her back pressed up against her comfy mattress. She felt her heart beat quickly, as she could only think about one person...

Adrien Agreste...

Her eyes widened. WAIT- She didn't have a crush! Adrien was just a naturally attractive guy that's all! Yeah! They were only friends- NO! They weren't friends! They were enemies!

He was just bored, and he wanted to hang out. And she had nothing else to do either! That's why she agreed! He was handsome, a naturally attractive guy- that explained why she was thinking about him!

END OF STORY.

***

Obviously it wasn't the end of the story. Or else there would no longer be any chapters or paragraphs of writing. In fact, Marinette Dupain-Cheng had a lot left in store for her.

Quickly pulling her hair into a high ponytail and slipping on her shoes, she hurriedly left for school. But of course, being the clumsy person she was, it was never that easy for her.

She tripped on the very last step to the school entrance. Of course she had only tied one shoe! She gasped and prepared for impact, her face moments away from smacking onto the hard cold pavement.

Suddenly she felt arms being wrapped around her, and she was pulled into a warm strong chest. She felt her heart beat quicker than before, as she looked up at the person who had caught her.

None other then Adrien Agreste.

Her eyes widened and her freckled cheeks were suddenly pink. She could smell his deodorant, his shampoo, his cologne... He smelled incredible. There was no denying that.

"Careful, blue." He said, that was so smooth... She gulped and pressed her hands against his chest, pushing herself away from him. But of course, she had forgotten about all the steps behind her.

Adrien quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her back into his embrace before she could fall... again. Marinette felt so embarrassed for some reason. He guided her towards the front entrance, "You're so clumsy." He said.

Marinette looked to the side, a little hurt. "I-I know... I'm a klutz..." Adrien looked at her, revealing the smile on his face. "It's cute." He said, Marinette froze. C-cute? She covered her face with her hands as she felt the heat rise to her cheeks.

Adrien chuckled, "Come on, we're late for class." He said and pulled her along to the classroom. Marinette was still speechless from what he had said before, did he really think that?

And if so... For how long? SINCE WHEN?!? It absolutely boggled her mind, two days ago Adrien was an annoying Senior boy who teased and picked on her. Now he was a misunderstood (still annoying) Senior boy who thought she was cute?!

Enemies DO NOT call each other cute right? This was crazy. Why was she so focused on this? Why did it matter to her so much? And... Why was she eager to know what he thought about her, or... Why he thought she was cute?

Perhaps she was over thinking this. It could've been as simple as him teasing her again. But, since yesterday, she didn't picture him the same anymore. She had discovered a lot about him and he opened up to her too.

Maybe Adrien Agreste wasn't as bad as she thought.

As Alya ranted about her blogs, Marinette tried to focus on what she was saying. But she could only think about him... Him as in, Adrien. Did he like her maybe? NO! That was absolutely crazy talk! Insanity!

He couldn't like her because he was her enemy. He hated her and she hated him. Case closed. "Heyyyy Alya, can we trade?" A familiar voice asked from behind her. She immediately tensed.

Adrien had Nino by the collar of his shirt, offering him to Alya for Marinette. Alya furrowed a brow, glancing at Marinette with the: what the hell, look. Marinette gulped, she didn't know what to say. But Adrien said it for her.

"Thanks Alya!" He said sitting Nino down and dragging Marinette away with him. "Adrien you're too fast!" The moment she said that Adrien tossed her over his shoulder and sprinted.

She had a perfect view of his back. She wasn't complaining. Which was unlike her in such a situation. After a few minutes, he set her down. "Why'd you do that?" Marinette asked, brushing herself off.

"I wanted to ask you something." He said simply, Marinette sighed. "How are you not tired?" She said, Adrien shrugged. "You're light as a feather, blue." She pouted her lip, "You know you could've just asked me while I was at the table."

"Yeah but Alya would interview the hell out of us. Plus, this way is more exciting." He said, he was right about one thing, Alya would interrogate them. "What is it then?" Marinette asked, she had already come this far...

"I wanted to ask if you would join me at my favorite cafe. You owe me one, I saved you from falling... Twice." Marinette sighed, "I guess. Sure, why not?" Adrien smiled, he was actually really happy.

"Cool. Allow me to be your guide. We have a while before class starts again." Marinette nodded, it took her by surprise, as Adrien slid his hand into her palm, lacing their fingers together.

She blushed, Adrien smiled at her, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear and taking in her pretty features. He felt his heart hammer in his chest, pulling her along to the nearby cafe.

Marinette couldn't bring herself to slip her hand away from his, and... She didn't want to. It felt nice to walk beside him, hand in hand. The way he held his warm sweet smile, that reassured her everything was okay.

The way his gentle fingers slid into hers, his skin was so soft and smooth. She didn't understand, why had he done this if he hated her? Maybe he... Maybe he actually did like her. Maybe the situation wasn't as crazy as she thought.
