Home Again
"Hello?" Patton answered the phone. Him, Logan, Joan, and Roman were in the living room waiting for the police to get back to them.
"Put it on speaker," Joan whispered. Patton nodded and set his phone down.
"We have captured the people responsible. We also have the child."
"Virgil," Patton sobbed out looking at Logan.
"We are questioning him now but he says he wants you guys there as soon as possible."
"Okay. We'll...we'll be there shortly," Patton smiled through his tears.
"I'll see you then. Goodbye." The officer hung up the phone.
"They...they have Virgil back." Patton ran to Logan's arms.
"Let's go see him," Logan said. Patton nodded.
The couple stood up to go.
"I...I'll go with. I've got to confess." Roman spoke up. The teacher looked at Patton while he watched towards Roman.
"You've helped us get him back," He hugged the young adult. "And I know you are genuinely concerned and sorry for doing it. I forgive you."
Roman was speechless. "But I-"
"Don't," Joan stood up. "If he says he forgives you. It's best not to argue with him. He's kind, helpful, and stubborn about it." They smiled at Patton. "It's best I head out. I'll stop by and say hi to the kid tomorrow."

"Virgil Sanders?" The teen looked up. The police man was smiling at him. Patton and Logan standing behind him.
"Dad! Papa!" Virgil jumped up and hugged Patton then Logan, making the couple smile.
"I'm glad you're back Virgil," Patton told him. "And you called me dad!"
"What's this?" Logan pointed to Virgil's wrists.
"They...they are cuffs. They dulled my abilities making me unable to use them. I...I thought it would be better the leave them on for awhile." The teen admitted.
"Virgil listen." Logan said seriously. "Don't be afraid of your ability. If you suppress it for long enough, nothing good and come from it. Okay?" Logan said and Patton nodded in agreement.
"But what if I hurt someone?"
"Picani is there to help you, remember? And even Remy," Patton said. "Let's head home shall we? We can talk more once there."
"Yeah, that's sounds good. I could use some of your homemade cookies," Virgil hugged his parents.

"How about we take these off?" Logan asked once they walked in the door.
"Yeah, I...I guess," Virgil said.
"Let me see them." Virge held out his wrists. "Interesting. When we take them off, tell me if it starts to hurt and we will stop right away and figure out why."
"Okay." Virgil took a deep breath and watched.
Once one was off Virgil slightly relaxed, when the other one was off shadows came rushing towards him.
"It's okay Virgil," Patton called out. "You're safe. Nothing's going to harm you in any way. I promise." The shadows slowly went away and Virgil collapsed. Logan caught him before he hit the ground.
"He's just asleep. After what happened to him I'm not surprised."
"Let's get him in bed. I'll call Picani and set another appointment since he's missed the last few." Patton pulled out his phone, while Logan brought the teen to his room.

"Hey Patton. Do you how do?"
"Hi Emile, I'm doing good, but Virgil missed the last couple times-"
"I heard what happened. You got him back?"
"Yeah," Patton smiled. "I'm so glad."
"Me too. I have something that I need to discuss with you about Virgil's abilities."
"Okay?"
"So I know you know about his shadows, but he has other more ... dangerous capabilities.

So I know this is a shorter chapter but it's been about a year since I started this story and I wanted to update today (May 28). I'm aware of the cliffhanger and the next chapter (which is the last one) will answer some of those questions...
