Chapter 21: An Attack Saved Us From A Stressful Fight-Scene

"What does it look like I'm doing?" Trivia sassed

Axis blinked, clearly not used to being Lemonhead's sassiness.

"Why are you taking them outside?" Axis recovered from his sass-attack.

"Moving them to another building," Trivia replied, controlling her snappy reflexes.

"On whose orders?"

"Boss's. Who's else?"

"They never notified us," Acra joined in, confused.

"Well, they notified us. Maybe you guys weren't fit for this job, and that's why they're giving it to me."

"Oh, uh- Okay..." Acra stuttered.

"Fine... we'll see about that. If you're lying, there's consequences for traitors," Axis reminded her. From behind him, Driver-Dude just stared at us intently. His gaze didn't waver from the three of us.

I felt like I was in a horror movie, with Driver-Dude being the monster-person.

"Yes, I'm very aware of the rules," Trivia lied, with a smile on her face.

"Carry on then," Axis said, watching us as we started to walk again."

"Wait." That was Driver-Dude's voice from behind the siblings.

"What?" Trivia asked, trying to mask down her annoyance.

"Where's the third one?"

Trivia tensed for a moment. "Who?"

"There's three prisoners. I only see two. Where's the third one?"

"I don't know. I only found these two," Trivia said, her talking speed decreasing a little. "Maybe someone else already took her, or she escaped."

Driver-Dude studied us for a moment. I held my breath, even though I wasn't the one lying or anything. Hey, if Trivia got caught, that meant Pay and I were busted as well.

I gave my best angry look at Trivia, trying to make the whole thing more convincing. I'm not sure it worked, because one minute later, Driver-Dude concluded, "You're lying."

Axis and Acra didn't have much reaction, which was surprising.

"Hey, how come you guys aren't surprised at the fact that we're lying and actually trying to escape?" I was mildly annoyed.

Oh, so now Driver-Dude, Axis , and Acra seemed surprised. "Why aren't your guys' eyes wide? I mean, this is the part where realization is supposed to hit, and you realize that Trivia is actually disguised as one of you guys!"

Pay smacked his forehead behind me. Acra looked super confused.

"I'm sorry... what?" she asked again.

"Does no one here read any books?" I asked, looking around, realizing the fact that everyone in the room was now staring at me. "No one? Okay, jeez."

"Looks like your plan failed," Axis said, cue everyone starting to get out their weapons and other attacking-objects. In an instant, we were surrounded by a bunch of attacking-objects and attacking-people.

Acra's hands went to a little messenger bag, where she was getting out little vials of colorful liquid and some darts, her hands shaking while she did it. Pay cracked his knuckles, and Trivia got out her compact mirror. I got both of my broken spoons ready.

This reminded me of one of those movie scenes. Like those huge, climactic, showdowns against the good guys and the bad guys. The heroes and the villains. (Except in our case, it was villains versus heroes, since everyone calls the three of us "villains".)

Just as quickly as it all started, it ended. We took three steps towards each other, almost ready to attack our way to freedom. The ground rumbled, throwing us off balance. There was a slight pause and the ground stopped vibrating, before starting to shake again just when we thought the shaking was over. Then it stopped again, longer, before the most violent of the shaking occured. This time, the entire building moved with the ground and all of us.

A loud buzzing sound filled the room. It grew louder and louder with each second. We all watched the building that was threatening to collapse on us, apparently forgetting about our battle with each other.

"Hello? What about our fight?" I asked the Defendants, who were watching the building in a trance.

"Target! Zip it!" Trivia hissed at me. She was speaking in her regular voice again, since there was no point in acting anymore.

"But-" The building broke. My hands instinctively went over my head, covering my skull and neck as I squeezed my eyes shut. The glass shattered and started to rain, toppling against each other. I felt the shards poke and cut my clothes here and there as the building was collapsing.

When the rain stopped, I hesitantly opened my eyes and looked up.

The cause of this entire fiasco? A random, gigantic air-ship hovering in space, trying to barge into the building.

"That's a big airplane. Why is it crashing into the headquarters? Whoever is driving that should really get their license revoked," I commented, trying to calm down my nerves.

"And did the airplane drivers have to destroy the Defendant's headquarters? They spent so much time, money, and taxes on the building. Plus the architecture is pretty nice," I continued, though no one was listening.

People around me were screaming, soon drowning out my voice and chattering. I couldn't even hear my own voice anymore. That was rude! They were interrupting me!

Chaos flood the room.

A/N:

Take a wild guess- who's in the airship that destroyed the Defendant's base. I'll give you a few seconds. *flips through the book in the meantime*

Oh, also we (and by we I mean you, the readers) find out Driver-Dude's real name next chapter.

Anyways, this chapter came out better than I originally expected, so that's great. And I'm thinking for these last few chapters of the book, I'll post two chapters a week, just because.

Well, have an amazing day/night!
