Deadly Chili and Home Movies
I meant to get this chapter up by the first episode of Chucky Season 3 Part 2, but I was really busy and didn't get the chance to. By the way did any of you here that Brad Dourif, who plays Chucky, is retiring, but he will still be doing Chucky?
As Nica, Alice and James were cooking in the kitchen James looked over to where Chucky was sitting with a smile, but then he frowned a little. He looked over at his aunt who was chopping the tomatoes across from him and his sister and then looked back at Chucky.
Does Chucky look a little too interested in Auntie Nica chopping tomatoes? James thought to himself and then shrugs. Maybe Chucky just likes cooking?
Later Nica was stirring the chili while it was cooking on the stove and after a while she and the kids started serving it into bowls while adding some cheese to the bowls of chili. Nica then let Alice and James taste test the chili.
"Yum!" James said with a smile.
"Yeah, it's really good," Alice agreed.
"It's the oregano," Nica said, "Did you two finished setting the table?"
"Almost," said Alice. She and James walked to the door and opened it for their aunt.
"Pay the toll," Alice and James said in unison with a hand out.
"You're on a roll," Nica said slapping each of them a low high five.
When the three were in the dining room, Chucky, who was alone in the kitchen, moved his eyes to the door and then to the bowls of chili.
In the dining room, Nica was lighting the candles, while Alice and James were setting the table.
"How do you do that?" James asked Nica, referring to lighting the candles.
"I'll show you when you're older honey," Nica told her nephew.
James nods with a smile, "Okay."
Back in the kitchen, Chucky was putting rat poison in one of the bowls of chili, but he quickly stopped when Nica was opening the door to the kitchen.
"Oh no honey, don't touch that," Nica told her niece, who tried to grab one of the candles, "Can you grab me the napkins? The fancy ones from last Christmas."
Nica then went back into the kitchen where she found Chucky sitting on the floor, which made her surprised and confused. Then Nica noticed that the cupboard where the cleaning supplies, along with the rat poison, were kept was open and she closed it.
Just then James walked in too, "Sorry, me and Alice left Chucky in the kitchen," the little boy said. But he stopped when he saw Chucky was sitting on the floor which confused him, because he remembered that he and Alice sat Chucky in one of the chairs. "Auntie Nica did you put Chucky on the floor?" James asked his aunt.
"No," Nica answered, "I found him sitting on the floor. I'm just as surprised as you."
James frowns and picks up Chucky and asked the doll, "Chucky, what were you doing on the floor?"
"Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna play?" said the doll.
"We can play after dinner Chucky," James said and then asked Nica, "Do you need any help Auntie Nica?"
"No honey, I'm fine," Nica says with a smile, "But tell your sister we're about ready to set out and serve the chili."
"Okay," James said and went back to the dining room still holding Chucky and said to his sister, "Auntie Nica wanted me to tell you we're about ready to set out and serve the chili. And Alice you won't believe what I found out."
"What?" Alice asked.
"I found Chucky sitting on the floor and Auntie Nica said she found Chucky on the floor too," James said.
"But we left Chucky in one of the chairs," Alice replies.
"I know," James said, he then sits Chucky at one of the dining room chairs and said, "Stay there Chucky." Then he and Alice go back to the kitchen to help Nica with setting the chili at the table.
After seven bowls of chili, with one containing rat poison, were all set at the table Alice took Chucky from the chair and a little later everyone was sitting down for dinner.
"This smells delicious," Ian said.
"Thanks," Nica replies.
"We're gonna sit right here," Alice said to Chucky, who she still had in her arms, as she sat down in a chair next to James.
"Barb sit next to me here," said Nica.
"Okay. If you insist," Barbara replies and takes a seat between her sister and her son.
"Wow. Look at this," Jill comments.
"Thanks, Jill. Make yourself comfortable," Nica replies.
Barbara then asks Father Frank, "Father would you like to say Grace?"
They all fold their hands as Father Frank leads them. "Bless us, Oh Lord and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive, from thy bounty, through Jesus Christ, our Lord we pray. Amen."
"Jill?" Ian offers the nanny some wine after pouring some.
"Mmm. Thank you, Ian. Don't mind if I do," Jill accepts.
"How about you, Father?" Ian asked.
"Oh, no. I'm good," Father Frank declines holding up his glass of water.
"I am starving," Alice says.
"Me too," James agrees. The kids are about to eat but their father stops them.
"Uh, wait," Ian said, gaining everybody's attention, "Your daddy would like to make a toast. To the chef," Ian said raising his glass.
Nica then raised her own glass. "Thank you. I had two great assistants," Nica said, looking at her niece and nephew. Alice and James smiled at Nica in response.
"I love chili," Jill said.
"Do you really?" Ian asks.
"Yeah," Jill answered.
"Me, too. Love it," Ian said.
Barb sniffs a spoonful of her chili and asks, "Is there meat in this?"
"No. Not at all," Nica assures her sister.
"It's vegetarian," Alice replies.
"Yummy!" James says happily taking another bite of his chili.
"Huh," Barb responds before eating.
They were all eating dinner without saying a word, until Ian spoke sounding alarmed. "Oh, my God. Oh, my God," he said, getting everyone's attention.
"What?" Nica asked.
Ian then chuckles, "This is amazing!" Everyone else chuckles too.
"I know. I can't believe there's no meat in this. It's so hearty," Jill said.
"It's the oregano," Alice responds. James nods.
"This is just the way my mama used to make it," Father Frank said.
"Nica, could you pass me the salt?" Barb asks her sister, even though the salt wasn't that far away from her, but Nica does it anyway, "Thank you," Barb says, putting some salt in her hand.
"You know, that doll, it looks really familiar somehow," Father Frank comments.
"Oh, Father, come on. Good Guy dolls were all the rage back in the '80s," Ian states, "My brother even had one."
"So did mine," Jill said.
"Are you serious?" Ian asks.
"Yes," Jill answers.
"Oh, come on," Ian laughs, getting a dirty look from his wife.
"That is wild," Jill said.
"I seem to remember seeing them on the news," Father Frank states.
"I remember seeing people standing in line overnight just to get their hands on one of these. They were right up there with Smurfs and Cabbage Patch Kids," Ian states.
They all went back to eating until Alice tasted something strange in her chili. "Mmm...Hmm. Hmm..." Alice makes a sour face.
"Alice, honey, is something wrong?" Nica asked concerned.
"It tastes funny," Alice said, referring to the chili.
"Bad funny?" James asked
"I don't know. Maybe we put too much oregano in," Alice wonders.
"Alice, sweetheart, it's not that bad," Barb comments then says in a harsh tone, "Eat it."
James hands his sister two seasoning bottles and whispers to Alice, "Try putting in garlic or onion powder. I was told it kills bad taste."
Alice puts some of both in. As the clock kept ticking the family continued to eat dinner in silence. Father Frank then starts sweating for some reason.
Barb notices this and asks, "Father, are you all right?"
"Oh, I'm...I'm so sorry," Father Frank apologizes, "I'm going to have to be going."
"Oh, my God. Father, are you ill?" Barb asks concerned.
"Oh, no, I'm fine. I have an appointment back at the church," Father Frank stammers, "Nica, thank you so much, the chili was delicious."
"Father, are you?" Nica tries asking.
"No, please forgive me. I don't mean to be rude. I'll see you all in the morning at the cemetery. Uh...Good night," Father Frank says and begins walking away, "I'm so sorry."
Everyone was confused by Father Frank's sudden departure. After Father Frank leaves, Alice and James go to the window, with Chucky still in Alice's arms, and the kids watch as Father Frank gets in his car and drives away. James looks over at Chucky and wonders. Is Father Frank scared of Chucky?
After a while police officers and ambulance personnel are on the road dealing with a head-on car crash collision. It's revealed that Father Frank was in the car crash and was pinned by the throat of his car roof. After emergency personnel was removing the car roof from his neck, Father Frank's neck spills out blood and his neck falls off.
Later that night, it was dark and storming outside and the family, minus Alice, was watching some old home movies. James was wearing his Star Wars R2D2 pajamas and sitting between his parents holding Sandy to him. At first he wanted to sit on Nica's lap, but Barb told him not to, because it would be too stressful for her, even though Nica told her that it would be fine. James was resting his head against Barb as the screen first showed a filming of someone's birthday and then showed what looked like a barbecue outdoors. It showed a younger Sarah Pierce and her husband, Daniel, and Barbara, who looked to be around four or five.
"Oh. Oh, this is an oldie," Barb said waving her hand, trying to shrug it off.
Jill laughed when she saw little Barbara eating hot dogs with her dad. "Oh my god is that you?"
"Shut up," Barb said annoyed.
"You're so cute," Jill smiles.
"Yeah Mommy is cute," James said giggling with a happy smile.
"It's called baby fat, you two," Barb said with a hint of exasperation.
Ian laughs too, and Barb gives him a look.
"Look I didn't say anything," Ian states.
"Go back to sleep," Barb tells Ian.
"Will do," Ian said.
As the family continued watching the home movie they were watching Sarah and Daniel kissing passionately. Daniel put a hand on his wife's pregnant belly as Sarah happily rubbed her belly that was carrying their second child. Then Daniel took little Barbara's hand and place it on her mommy's belly so she could feel her new sibling too.
"Look at her," Nica said referring to their mother, "She's so happy."
"What happened to your dad?" Jill asked Barb.
"He drowned that year," Barb answered, "A couple weeks before Nica was born. Mom was never the same after that."
James looked up at Barb and asked, "Do you miss Grandpa?" Even though he, Alice and Nica never got to know him, Barb did.
"I do sweetie," Barb said, "But it was a long time ago."
The film eventually showed a strange man with long hair, sunglasses and a red shirt, he looked scary to James. Nica was about to ask who the man was, but James beat her to it.
"Mommy, who is that? That scary man?" James asked.
"Some neighbor back in Chicago I guess," Barb answers with a shrug.
Jill frowns, "What a weirdo."
Alice then comes into the room in her nightwear, which are pink with a crescent moon and a fairy on them.
"Hey there, missy," Jill said, "What'cha up to."
"Chucky's gone," Alice said.
"Not again," Nica said.
"Ally I told you when I was getting my pajamas on that Chucky was gone and hiding," James states. James was looking for Chucky with Alice earlier as well, but he decided to take a break to spend some time with Nica, since he and Alice didn't get to see their aunt very often.
"Well, where did you leave him?" Barbara asked her daughter.
"Actually I had him Mom," James confesses, "When it was my turn with Chucky I set him down on a chair because I was getting my pajamas on. Then when I turned back to get him he was gone."
"He's hiding," Alice replies.
"Okay you two, time for bed," Barb told her children. And don't forget to brush your teeth and your hair."
"What about Chucky?" Alice asked.
"Yeah we still don't know where he is," James adds hugging Sandy to him.
"Jill will go look for Chucky," Barb tells them.
"I'll give you a hand, Jill," Ian offers getting up, but Barb stops him.
"Uh-uh. We're not done here yet," Barb states.
"I think he's hiding under my bed," Alice tells Jill.
"Or mine," James adds
"Don't worry, we'll find him," Jill reassures the kids.
