You were walking past a small park when you noticed the commotion.

Crowded together at the playground in the park was a group of children, their attention focused on a small boy slouching in one of the swings.

He looked to be about seven years old, and he was obviously uncomfortable. He seemed to shrink under the gazes of the other kids, most of which had something in hand that they shoved towards him. The boy shook his head over and over, not saying a word as he kept his gaze lowered, but the children only became more insistent.

Finally, after a particularly loud collection of pleas, the boy reached out for one of the offered items and quickly stuck it in his mouth. Confused, you watched along with the other kids.

Nothing happened. At least, nothing that you could see.

There was a collective groan before the group began to disperse, leaving the ravenette alone once more.

It was then that you saw the small leaf that had sprouted from the boy's hand, something that could be easily missed. But now, without a crowd surrounding him, the leaf slowly began to grow until the boy's arm had become a couple of sunflowers.

The boy reached out to gently touch one of the flowers, but stopped to look around to see if anyone had lingered. At first, he seemed to relax.

Then he spotted you and stiffened, quickly ducking his head until it looked like he was hiding the sunflowers. Or trying to hide himself, somehow.
