♪ PROLOGUE ♪
Aurora strides purposefully through the rows of Barnes and Noble, a look of determination on her face as she sips on her cappuccino. The girl was on a mission and no one would get in her way.
Reaching her favorite area, the spot where all of fictional genres surround each other, she slows down and starts reading through the titles. Not spotting the newest Harry Potter on her left side, she whirls around to look at the other shelves, only to bump into something - or, more accurately, someone.
Her scalding hot coffee goes all over the stranger, leaving her to growl in annoyance. Starbucks isn't exactly cheap.
"Maybe if you made your presence known instead of creeping up behind someone like a total pervert-" Aurora's sentence trails off as she looks up at the handsome stranger who's not at all the creepy old man she expected him to be. "Holy Cheez-its, on second thought, that was totally my fault. I'm such a klutz and I'm really sorry."
The stranger simply chuckles, taking his coffee covered hoodie off to reveal a dry shirt underneath. "It's okay. See? My shirt is still dry."
She couldn't help but to stare, as he was far better looking than anything Grey's Anatomy had prepared her for. His previously messy brown hair was now even messier after taking off his hoodie, and she wanted nothing more than to reach up and fix it. His blue eyes lit up as he smiled, showing off perfectly white teeth too.
"At least let me buy you that book to make up for it," she offers, gesturing to the surprisingly dry book in his hands.
"Only if you let me buy you another drink," he counters.
"Deal," Aurora agrees, taking the book out of his hands. "Meet you at the door?"
"It's a date," the stranger winks as makes his way back to the Starbucks area.
Glancing at the book's title as the cashier scans it, she realizes it's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the exact book she had been looking for. Taking her change, she wanders over to the doors to wait for the stranger. Not seeing him anywhere, she quickly digs a pen out of her purse and scribbles her number on the inside of the cover.
Snapping it shut, the girl looks up just in time to see him walking back towards her with a large Starbucks cup and a proud grin on his face.
"I didn't know what you wanted," he confesses, running a hand through his hair nervously as she takes the drink from him. "So I ordered a mocha."
"You can never go wrong with a mocha," she concedes. "Thank you."
Truth be told, Aurora couldn't stand mochas. But seeing his grin made her decide against telling him that.
"No problem. Thanks for buying my book."
"It was the least I could after nearly burning and yelling at you."
He laughs slightly, sticking his hand out. "I'm Jonah, by the way."
"I'm Aurora."
"A beautiful name for a beautiful lady."
Aurora felt her cheeks heat up at the compliment. But before she could retort, a blond teenager barrels into the bookstore and nearly crashes into the two.
"Jonah!" He exclaims excitedly. "Zach and I have been looking everywhere for you! Let's go!"
Without waiting for a reply, the blond begins to tug Jonah towards the doors. Jonah looks behind him, waving to Aurora.
"I'll see you aro-"
Aurora can't help but to laugh as he trips over the threshold, landing roughly on the asphalt and cutting his sentence off.
Once he was safely out of sight, she turns away to get what she originally came for, only to find something better. Bending down, she grabs Jonah's forgotten hoodie and folds it carefully so the wet part won't hit her.
Spinning on her heel, she exits Barnes and Noble, all thoughts of Harry Potter forgotten.
