Three years later...

"CARAMEL!" Aurora shrieks, poking her head out from behind the bathroom door and into the empty upstairs hallway. "CARAMEL, COME HERE!"

Footsteps pound up the stairs moments later as she closes the door once again. Carmen - who appears to be covered in baking powder - bursts into the bathroom, panting and leaning against the doorway to catch her breath. Aurora watches, not moving from her spot on the floor.

"What's wrong?" The nineteen year old girl questions, shutting the door as her breathing returns to normal.

"Has Jonah left to go to Target yet?" She asks, purposely avoiding Carmen's concerns.

"Yeah, he left a few minutes ago," she explains, sitting down next to the older girl. "Jack and Callie went wi-"

"I'm pregnant!" Aurora blurts out, cutting her off.

Carmen's eyes widen in surprise. "Are you sure?"

She nods mutely, gesturing towards the three positive pregnancy tests lined up along the sink. Carmen goes to say something but stops herself, noticing her upset expression.

"This is a good thing, isn't it?"

"I don't know," Aurora answers honestly, resting her head on her shoulder and letting a few tears escape. "I'm only twenty-one, Caramel. I can barely keep myself alive. How am I supposed to keep a helpless child alive for eighteen years?"

Carmen pulls her into an embrace, allowing her to cry on her shoulder. "You're not going to be alone through this," she reassures her. "Jonah quite literally will not leave your side during all of this. And the idea of leaving you won't even cross his mind so don't you dare consider that possibility. I'll always be here for you and the baby, and there's not a doubt in my mind that the others will be more than happy to help."

"What makes you think that's what I'm worried about?" Aurora manages to ask through her sobs.

"It's what every woman worries about after she finds out she's pregnant."

It's quiet in the bathroom as she gradually calms herself down. Wiping away the last of her tears, she sits up and looks over at Carmen, who's waiting patiently for her to compose herself.

"How am I supposed to tell him?" Aurora finally mutters, accepting the tissue Carmen hands her. "I can't exactly say, 'Happy anniversary! Oh, and by the way, I'm pregnant.' "

"That's not the best approach," Carmen agrees, chuckling softly. "But we have plenty of time until Jonah gets back to think of something. Now, come on," she says, standing up and pulling me up with her. "Let's go get some ice cream."

Before Carmen can open the bathroom door, Aurora grabs her arm, stopping her. "Please don't mention this to anyone until I tell Jonah."

"Mention what?" She feigns innocence, winking.

Smiling, Aurora links her arm through hers. "Where would I be without you, Caramel?"

"Jail, most likely."

"Says the girl who looks like she's covered in cocaine," she snorts, falling into step beside her as they exit the bathroom. "Besides, I've only been caught by the authorities twice."

"Let's hope the baby takes after Jonah," Carmen mutters.

"Agreed," Aurora giggles. "Two of me would be too much awesomeness for the world to handle."

"Happy anniversary!" Jonah exclaims, entering their shared bedroom with a bouquet of white roses.

"I thought I told you not to get me anything," Aurora rolls her eyes, faking exasperation as she take the flowers from him.

"You did," Jonah smirks, pulling her closer to him. "But when have I ever listened to that nonsense?"

Leaning into his embrace, Aurora kisses Jonah softly as she wraps her arms around his neck, the roses falling from her hold and onto the bed. Jonah's grip on her waist tightens as their lips move in sync, the moment becoming more heated as the seconds go by.

Breaking the kiss, Jonah rests his forehead on hers, his ragged breathing slowly returning to normal as a smile spreads across his face. "I love you, Aurora Frantzvitch."

"I love you more, Jonah Frantzvitch," she sighs.

"That's not possible."

Aurora disentangles herself from his hold and move towards the dresser, knowing she can't procrastinate any longer.

"Then I suppose it's a good thing that I got you something too," she says, grabbing the sealed envelope.

"So it's okay for you to buy me something for our anniversary but I'm not allowed to buy you anything?" Jonah questions, laughing as she nods in confirmation.

He eyes the purple envelope warily as she extends it for him to take. Grabbing for it, Aurora pulls it out of his reach before he can, smirking triumphantly.

"Did you really think I would hand this over that easily? After being married for three years, one would think you'd know these things," Aurora chastises. "What's the magic word?"

"Please?" Jonah pleads, jutting his lower lip out and pouting.

"The magic word was actually gummy bears but please works too," she teases, allowing him to have his gift.

"Gummy bears is technically two words. You only asked for one magic word," he informs her, snatching the envelope from her grasp before she can change her mind.

As he tears the seal open, her nerves begin to set in. Wringing her hands together anxiously, she watches his facial expressions carefully as every possible outcome - good or bad - runs through her mind.

He could hate the idea of having a kid. He could decide to leave her. He could want nothing to do with the baby.

But, he could love the idea of being a father. He could be thrilled by her pregnancy.

"What is a dad?" Jonah mutters to himself, snapping her out of her internal argument as he opens the card, reading it aloud. "You, you is a dad."

Jonah furrows his brow as he looks up at Aurora, clearly confused. She doesn't say anything, waiting for the realization to dawn on him.

"Are you saying-" Jonah cuts himself off, finally understanding.

She smiles brightly, nodding encouragingly as a grin slowly spreads across his face.

"Surprise?"

Jonah promptly faints.
