News

So, as you know, there was a shooting in St. Louis between an african american man and a white police officer a couple years ago.

This chapter is about how the news and the media is spreading racism, with the Michael Brown shooting as my main example. Please no hate and comment your thoughts!

Ok, it wasn't right that this man, Michael Brown was shot. I'll say that now. None of this that happened was ok.

What was said on the news was aggravating, however.

It was said that, "Black teenager, Michael Brown, was shot by white police officer..."

Where do I begin...

First off. This man was 19. He's not a teenager. He is above 18, and that makes him an adult.

Also, the media is spreading racism because it pointed out, specifically, the races of the two people primarily involved in the shooting. I don't see how the race is relevant. It'd be making the same point by saying, "Young man, Michael Brown, was shot by police officer in St. Louis".

That'd relay the SAME information, and would lessen the number of deaths and hate for police officers in the St. Louis area. The report, also, didn't help the citizens of the St. Louis either. It left everyone in a state of fear. To go to their jobs, to leave their houses, etc.

Going back to the incorrect age of Michael Brown, as well. The fact they called him a teenager also caused a lot of trouble in the St. Louis area. Killing a person isn't a good thing ever, but it's especially frowned upon when someone who isn't an adult gets shot. However, Michael Brown was an adult.

Again, it's horrible he was shot, and it was wrong he was shot. But, 3 adjectives, that weren't needed, caused lots of trouble in St. Louis.

And when there are other police related shootings, the words "black" and "white" are thrown around a lot as well.

The media is saying race doesn't matter, but more of the media is telling everyone that the victim being black makes the matter worse.

Say a black police officer shot a white man. The media wouldn't explode over it as much because "black lives matter", and the whole "revenge" thing.

Like I've been saying: race shouldn't decide what's right and wrong. Because everyone's equal.
