endgame, book one of two

-November, 2005

Delilah Quinn was woke by a chill in her bedroom, her curtains waving, she found it odd since her mother had closed the window. The piercing scream of Eleanor Quinn echoed through the house, she instantly got up and moved towards the sound, making a pit stop to her parent's bedroom to grab a wooden stake. With her father being a hunter she knew what to do, of course she'd never seen a vampire or anything remotely supernatural but she had an idea of how to kill one.

She let out a small gasp when she saw her mother's body with a gaping hole and bite marks, the man or species who had done this to her simply smirked at the girl. His eyes flitted to the stake she held in her hand up to her eyes which were filled with tears while he wiped around his mouth to get rid of the blood.

"What did you do to her?" Delilah asked, her voice cracking.

"Li?"

The vampire and Lilah looked at each other both figuring out what to do. She knew she couldn't run because he was faster than she would ever be. She knew she couldn't kill him because he'd snapped the stake. The vampire watched as the front door opened, Robert Quinn appearing. The vampire had the young teen in a tight grip making sure she couldn't run to her dad who stared at the sight in-front of him. His daughter was being held hostage by a man with fangs who was about to sink them into her neck. His eyes scanned the room to find the broken stake, one part by his foot, "Let her go. I'm the one you want not her, she's innocent. I'm the one who's been hunting you and your kind not her." The man looked between Robert and Lilah before letting the teen go so she could hold her mom's body in the hopes she'd come back. She knew deep down she wouldn't but she hoped that since a vampire killed her that he turned her.

The girl looked up to see the man feeding off her dad just like her was her mom a few moments earlier. She reached over to find the broken stake and drove it into his heart. Or at least she thought it was him. It was only when the man fell to the ground she realised she'd staked her dad and not the vampire. Lilah let out a gasp and series of, "No, no, no's."

"Dad? Please wake up, I'm sorry," she sobbed. The vampire had disappeared and it was in that moment it dawned on her that her both of her parents were dead. Her hands shocks she rang the sherif.

"Liz? It's my parents," she began, letting out a chocked sob. "They're dead."

"Lilah, honey calm down, me and Caroline will be there in a few minutes. Go up to your room and I'll get Care to come find you, alright?"

"Alright," she nodded even though she knew Liz couldn't see her. The phone beeped signalling Liz had hung up and since they lived two streets away she knew they wouldn't be long, with one last look at her parents she decided to take the stake from her dad's body knowing if they saw it they'd think he was a vampire.

Little did Delilah know he was a werewolf instead and she had just triggered her curse.
