Sunwhisker stretched out his legs as he watched his mate bring a rabbit to the edge of camp.
'I wish shed forgive me...' he thought as he watched her set the rabbit down. He was about to walk over when she stood up and walked to the dirt place.
Thats when he noticed it. He could see a hole in the rabbit from where he sat. He padded slowly over to it, looking around at his clanmates who werent paying any mind to him, except Deerstar who gave him a dirty look.
'Shes still mad at me... and she probably thinks i killed her son.' He thought sadly.
He stalked over to the rabbit and sniffed at the hole.
That's when he smelt it. Deathberries.
He dug into the rabbit with his claws and found them- several small deathberries, packed in the rabbits stomach.
"Who did this!" He yowled, earning several suprised glances.
"Who tried to kill my mate?"
Someone attempted to kill Ripplewave with poisoning!
The mottled gray and white tom stood up slowly, knowing that if he wanted to leave this was his only chance. He walked out of the den, trying as hard as possible not to trip and fall, like he usually did. He knew what he was, a nuisance, just another mouth to feed, but he could do so much more, he could prove that he could take care of himself. He would prove that he was able to find love, and make a cat proud. He looked in the den, seeing the sleeping faces of Zinniabloom and Sprayfrost, he'd been in love with both of them, but seeing them both take on other mates broke his heart. "Are you watching father?" he said, "are you watching your son make you proud?" As soon as he entered the clearing to camp, he ran to the entrance. "I'll make him proud," he whispered, "Hailstrike, you'll be proud of me, I'll finally make you proud!" He ran out of camp and into the forest, his heart thumping with realization, he didn't know where he'd go, he didn't have any family outside the clan, and he didnt know any loners or rouges. He sighed, he'd just have to figure it out on the way there. But her couldnt stay here. Not any longer. "Goodbye, my clan, stay strong and find those who dare hurt you." he said, hoping someone would hear him, "I cannot stay. I have no place in a clan full of murderers and those who look at me as I'm weak and useless. I'll show you all!" he yowled, realizing that for the first time, he'd raised his voice. He continued to run under the light of the full moon. "Hailstrike, Whiteskies, Heatherkit, Galekit, Falconkit. I promise that your last living kin will make you proud!"
