She was in her room reading a book when she heard the shouting. This had become a daily routine of her parents. They would come home from work and not even 5 minutes later their fights and arguments would start. At this time of the day she would lock herself in her room and drown out their shouting by listening to music.

She put her headphones on but she could still hear their harsh words. Today their fight was a lot louder than usual.

"I WOULD HAVE NEVER MARRIED YOU HAD I KNOWN YOU WERE SUCH A BITCH!!"

"YEAH WELL YOU WERE NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO MADE THE MISTAKE OF MARRYING THE WRONG PERSON."

"When the hell did you turn into such a skank!"

"The very moment I found that you cheated on me with your secretary."

"IT WAS A ONE TIME MISTAKE!! And don't you dare tell me that you weren't sleeping with our neighbor. I've seen how you look at him."

"If it wouldn't be for our daughter I wouldn't even stay with you."

Her mother picked up the vase they'd gotten on their wedding and chucked it at the wall.

              That's it, she had had enough. They crossed their limits today. "Are you both done? Or is there more left?"

"Go to your room." her mother ordered.

"No! I am not going to my room. Maybe I should just sit here and watch you both fight. It is way easier than sitting in my room and listening to both of you talk shit about each other!"

"Listen to your mother and go to your room. This our problem and it doesn't concern you so just go back to your room." her dad backed up her mother.

"Not my concern! NOT MY CONCERN. Every day both of you come home from work and not even 5 minutes later you both are at each other's throats. Have you ever stopped for a second to check whether I'm home or not! Whether I've eaten or not! Whether I'm alright or not! NO ALL YOU THINK ABOUT IS CHEWING IT EACH OTHER AND TODAY I HEAR YOU SAY THAT YOU'RE ONLY TOGETHER BECAUSE OF ME. THAT I'M THE CAUSE OF ALL THE FIGHTS BECAUSE NEITHER OF YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO LEAVE THE OTHER. Wow! Have you ever for a second thought how much this all affects me? How much it hurts to know that my parents don't care enough to ask how my day has been. That we can't even have dinner as a family for one day because you both can't be civil around each other. I can't even talk to the both of you about my problems. What kind of parents are you?"

Tears spill out of her eyes as her words get choked up. She comes out of her haze to find herself stuck at the entrance of her room. The sounds of her parents shouts echoing in the big house. Closing the door she slides down it, her palms covering her face as she cries her heart out. Why can't she have parents who would at least be civil to each other.
