chapter forty five
after the end credits had finished playing, hongjoong was finally ready to leave the theater.
"so, how'd you like the movie little cutie?" seonghwa asked as he reclined his seat back to its original position, standing up and putting a hand out for hongjoong to grab onto.
the boy accepted, julting his body off the seat with a bit of seonghwa's help, "it was the bestest movie ever! i loved it even more than the first!"
"why's that?" seonghwa questioned as the two walked out of the theater side by side.
"well duh, isn't it obvious? i got to watch it with you!" hongjoong giggled, hitting seonghwa's chest lightly as he spoke.
"hongjoong, i swear you're the cutest human being alive." seonghwa shook his head, cooing at how cute the younger was.
"nope! not true." hongjoong disagreed as they walked up to seonghwa's car.
"so tell me, who's cuter than you?" seonghwa leaned against the passenger side of the car, not allowing hongjoong to get inside until his question was answered.
"because you're alive too, and you're the cutest human being alive!" hongjoong poked seonghwa's chest with an eye roll, acting like he was stating the obvious.
seonghwa blushed ever so slightly at hongjoong's comment, "you're the best, joongie."
"thank you." he giggled in response. seonghwa then opened the door for hongjoong and made his way to the driver's side, taking a seat and backing out of the spot.
the car ride home was silent, but a comfortable silence at that... like no words needed to be spoken, their loud beating hearts being enough for the two of them.
though silent, hongjoong's mind was running wild. he was feeling so many emotions; happiness because of seonghwa, excitement from his first date, but sadness now that he had to leave the boy.
he groaned as seonghwa approached his house, turning to face the boy with a frown, "seongie, i don't want to leave yet!"
"baby, it's almost eleven. your mommy said she wanted you home by eleven, and i don't want to disobey her rules." seonghwa explained to the younger who sighed.
"but like you said, it's almost eleven. can't we sit together for a bit longer? pleeease?" hongjoong dragged out, begging the older to listen to his pleads.
seonghwa chuckled a bit at hongjoong's reaction and turned his body to completely face the boy. he grabbed both of hongjoong's tiny hands and held them in his own. hongjoong blushed at the action, taking it upon himself to intertwine their fingers.
"so, what do you want to talk about then?" seonghwa asked and hongjoong began thinking.
"oh, i know! when can i see you again?" hongjoong tilted his head, looking into seonghwa's eyes as he asked his question.
"when do you want to see me again?" seonghwa smirked.
"i wanna see you tomorrow, but i can't! i'm already going to wooyoungie's house." hongjoong's head dropped, a frown forming on his face.
seonghwa lifted the boy's head up by his chin, "it's ok hun, we can see each other on monday. it's not too far away."
hongjoong smiled, "yeah, you're right. but i already miss you, and i haven't even left yet!" hongjoong cried out.
"well i already miss you too. but look at the time, it's eleven now. if i walk you inside right now, maybe your mommy will let me take you out on monday since we have the day off from school!" seonghwa exclaimed and hongjoong's eyes lit up, the boy immediately opening the car door and running towards the house.
seonghwa acted quickly, exiting the vehicle and catching up to the boy as he rang the bell vigorously. after hearing the obnoxious rings, hongjoong's mother shot up from the couch and opened the door for her son.
"hey honey, you're home!" she cheered, bringing her son in for a hug, "did you have a good time with seonghwa?"
"good time? i had a great time! it was perfect!" hongjoong jumped up and down and seonghwa laughed at how adorable he looked when excited.
"well i'm very glad to hear that. i'll let you say your goodbyes to seonghwa without me in your hair. goodnight seonghwa, get home safely!" she pulled the boy in for a hug, seonghwa kindly accepting.
"goodbye ms. k-- i mean, chinsun." he corrected himself, laughing a bit uncomfortably. hongjoong's mom waved and walked upstairs, making her way into hongjoong's room so the boy could explain the whole date to her.
"well joongie, i guess this is goodbye for tonight." seonghwa stepped forward and hongjoong pouted, "no, i don't want to see any pouting. i know you're sad that i'm leaving, but let's remember all the good times we had tonight."
hongjoong thought about the date and began smiling again, "see, a smile. the most beautiful smile on the planet." seonghwa cooed.
"t-thank you." hongjoong stuttered out shyly, hiding his mouth.
"have a good night, joong." seonghwa leaned down and kissed the boy's forehead, "i'll see you monday."
"i'll see you monday, bye!" hongjoong waved as seonghwa stepped back, watching the older make his way into the car. as seonghwa drove off, hongjoong slammed the door shut and began screaming.
"mommy! let me tell you everything!" hongjoong sprinted up the stairs, his mother laughing, excited for all the details to be spilled.
----
"mom, i'm home!" seonghwa called out as he walked into the living room where his mother was sitting, watching some random reality tv show on the television.
seonghwa's mother paused the tv show and sat up from her position, making room for her son to sit beside her, "so, tell me everything!"
"i'm not going to lie, the date was incredible." seonghwa smiled, looking down at his hands as he spoke.
"that's incredible! were you a proper gentleman?" she questioned, furrowing her eyebrows as seonghwa rolled his eyes.
"yes mom, of course i was!" he laughed out loud, hitting her lightly on the arm.
"you say of course like you've been nice to this boy your whole life." she shook her head and seonghwa put his hands up defensively.
"hey! that was before i really got to know him." seonghwa screamed out, shaking his head.
"tell that to the day you made him cry because you didn't want to admit your feelings to yourself." mrs. park fired back and seonghwa accepted defeat with a sigh.
"you got me there..."
"i know i do, the mommy is always right." she pointed a finger at her son, "but now, tell me the details!"
"god mom, do i get any privacy?" seonghwa laughed as he asked the question.
"no. i'm your mother, i have the right to know. i put you in this world, i could take you out." she stated nonchalantly.
"woah, that took a dark turn. you know, murder is still illegal regardless if i'm your son or not." seonghwa informed his mother who rolled her eyes in response.
"ok ok fine. let me explain. so first, i took him to get ice cream. his mother told me his favorite place and his exact order, so i ordered and paid for him. we sat and ate that and then i took him to the movies, obviously paying for him once again. we saw the second trolls movie since i know he loved the first one so much and he had a great time, and so did i. oh, and i also bought him some flowers. i gave them to him before we left and his mother put them in a vase for him." seonghwa finished explaining, his mother holding her heart.
"wow, my baby is a gentleman! you put so much thought into that date, he'll probably never forget it." she began tearing up a bit, sounding very proud of her son.
"yeah, and it was his first date. he told me it was the greatest first date he could've ever imagined. it made me really happy when he said that." seonghwa smirked, lowly chuckling at the memory of hongjoong's adorable ramble.
"his first date? oh my god! that really was an incredible first day. i'm so proud of you." mrs. park clapped and leaned in, hugging her son tightly.
"thank you mom, i really tried." seonghwa hugged his mother back, eventually backing out of the hug with a smile on his face.
"well, i better head to bed. it's getting late, you should sleep too!" she stood up and pointed in her son's face.
"jeez, so pushy!" he laughed, standing up from his seat.
"you know me so well. goodnight baby, i love you." she gave her son a kiss on the cheek and began walking towards the bathroom.
"goodnight mom, i love you too." seonghwa called out as he made his way to his own bedroom.
as soon as he plopped down on his bed, seonghwa smiled widely. he was so thankful that he found someone as special as hongjoong, and he couldn't wait to see him again on monday.
