3: MINECRAFT! (Riley)
Riley's POV
Before I could go to Sub's house, I had to go through three days of school.
My parents had moved me to a new school soon after I had gotten back from Minecraft the second time, and the new school was horrible in all aspects. The classes were boring, teachers were rude and the kids were downright hostile. Even though I have been at the school for a whole year, I still got hostile looks. Mind you, I returned those hostile looks to the guys who gave them to me. It might not be a good idea in the long run, but eh, it's fun.
Wednesday was awful because of double maths, Thursday was sport and I left all my classmates in my dust and on Friday I didn't care what those rude kids did, because tomorrow I was going to Sub's house. My parents had left the day before to go on a business trip and they wouldn't be back until Monday. My brother was staying at our grandmother's, meaning that I had more 'silence to study better'. Yeah right. It also meant that I could go to Sub's house without anyone knowing. I had written myself a reminder, just in case something happened and I forgot about going to Sub's house.
And of course, when something amazing is about to happen, nothing can go right.
On Saturday morning, I was walking to Sub's house when the pack of rude kids stopped me. There were about 7 of them, way too much for me to handle on my own. Mind you, if I had a minecraft sword and armour, I would have smashed them. They circled around me, cutting off the plans of escape that had started to form in my mind.
"So, where are we headed today New Girl?" their leader asked. He had messy black hair and a leather jacket.
I shrugged. "Just strolling Ronald," I answered. He wasn't happy about the lack of information, but I just wanted to get out of there and get to Sub's house.
"Oh, I don't think that's the right answer," Ronald said. "Who's Sub by the way?"
Well crap. One of them must have seen my reminder.
"I think it's her boyfriend," another boy said.
"No way, she's too ugly for someone to like her." A girl with ghastly pink fluorescent lipstick said this. I couldn't help but scoff as I saw her.
"Look who's talking," I muttered. Thankfully, none of them heard me.
"He's probably blind," the first boy said.
I held back a bark of laughter. Sub's minecraft avatar was indeed blind, but these idiots weren't to know that.
"If he's blind, then he won't know if she's hurt." Ronald grinned.
Double crap. The circle of kids started getting smaller. I quickly dropped my small bag, making sure it didn't catch on my watch and brought up my hands, ready to defend myself. But it turned out that I didn't need to.
"What the hell are you kids doing?" a voice asked from behind me.
We all spun around guiltily. I couldn't help but grin as I recognised Mitch and Jerome. The two had perfect timing. I saw their car a few metres away. They were standing less than a metre from the group, their arms crossed against their chest. The group hesitated. They outnumbered Mitch, Jerome, but the two men looked strong. Ronald smiled.
"Ah, just chatting. Nothing important," he said evasively.
Mitch raised his eyebrow. "Uh huh. Well chat's over. Break it up."
The group didn't move.
"Or does my friend here need to call the police?" Mitch threatened. "I didn't miss those comments you know."
Jerome took out his phone and the group scattered, leaving me behind. I picked up my bag from the ground.
"Thanks guys," I said. "Don't know what I would have done with that actually."
Mitch shrugged it off. "It's nothing. Come on. We'll drive you the rest of the way."
The drive only took two minutes, which I spent looking outside the window of the car. Two cars were already parked at Sub's house when we arrived.
"Isn't that Adam's car?" Jerome asked, pointing to a white Lamborghini.
"He's got a Lambo?!" I exclaimed, getting out have a better look. I loved cool fast cars. They look awesome, sound awesome and handle amazingly.
"Yeah, but he's pretty protective of it, so don't touch it," Jerome warned.
I quickly snatched back my hand, which had been centimetres away from the body of the car. I then followed the two men inside the small house.
"Matt? It's Mitch," Mitch called.
"Hey Mitch!" a voice called back. "We're in the study."
The trio walked through the house to the study. Sure enough, Matt and Adam were in the study. Adam was adjusting a light thingeo while Matt was typing away at the computer. He waved when they entered.
"Hey Jerome, Riley. How are you guys?" Adam asked.
"Excited," I said. My stomach was doing flips inside me.
Adam grinned. "Same. Matt just needs a few more minutes to set things up."
"So what are we going to do when we go in?" Mitch asked.
Jerome shrugged. "Play around, build a house maybe?"
"We don't really know how out inventories work when we're in Minecraft, do we?" I said. "It's not like we've used it before."
"I guess we just have big pockets," Mitch joked.
Matt whistled, drawing their attention. He tapped a key on his computer and the light thingeos whirred to life. We moved and stood in the centre of the room.
"You guys ready?" Adam asked.
I tried to stop myself from jumping up and down in excitement. I had been ready for three days.
Lines of code connected the lights and covered the five of us like a second skin. I closed my eyes, feeling a falling sensation and losing feeling in my body. My back hit something solid and I groaned. Light came from the other side of my eyelids and I slowly opened them, shading them with my hand. I sat up, stretching my back slightly.
"Bit of a rough landing huh?" Sky asked.
I turned and saw my four friends, all slowly getting up. A boy wearing a red and black checkered jumper and blue jeans, a boy with a green shirt, grey pants and green eyes, a third boy wearing a black suit and a fourth boy wearing black and grey striped shirt and pants, with a yellow and purple amulet and sunglasses. Bajan, Sub, Jerome and Sky.
"Third time we're in Minecraft guys," Bajan said, standing up. "Third time's the luckiest time, right?"
I scoffed. "Yeah right. Luck and I are not friends."
Sky chuckled. "Same here Riley."
"Enough chit-chat guys, let's go!" I couldn't help but jump slightly as I heard Sub's voice in my mind. Sky jumped a lot.
"HOW THE HECK DID YOU DO THAT?" he yelled in excitement.
Sub stepped back. "Calm down Sky! Herobrine taught me to do it when I first came."
"Why haven't you done it sooner?" Bajan asked.
Sub shrugged. "I thought it would scare you guys."
"It's scary cool dude!" Jerome grinned.
Sub shrugged again, a small smile on his face.
"Come on guys, let's play Minecraft!" I said, running in a random direction, my friends following close behind.
Third time's always the luckiest, right guys?
Yeahhhhhhhh no.
