Epilogue

« Lily, darling? » Queen Isabella slowly opened the door to watch her youngest daughter. Her fragile figure sat down in the rocking chair in front of the window which was opened, unlike the past days. At the sight of the sunlight entering Lily's room, a soft smile appeared on the Queens' lips. « How do you feel? » She approached her daughter, her long dress tracing the lines on the wooden floor.

Lily sighed almost inaudible. Her pale face turned away from Camelot's scenery to look up at her mother. Athena had returned to Costa Luna after her father's death and Lily's poor health had caused her mother to stay around a bit longer. « How's Arthur? » Lily asked instead as she couldn't give an honest answer, her chapped lips forming what could be a tired smile.

« He's doing just fine. Of course, he's worried about you, but he has no doubt you'll get better. » Lily returned her sight to the scenery in front of her. Her room was located at the back of Camelot, the big windows giving away the sight of sunlit meadows and only a bit further thick forest grounds. Spring had entered the realm and slowly its' grounds defrosted. Unlike their princess's heart.

« He really cares about you, Lilith, you know that, right? » Queen Isabella traced the curved wooden back of the rocking chair which suddenly stopped in its' moves. The silence that followed, made the Queen feel uneasy. Her eyes looked back up at her daughter. Shaking the princess made her way out of the rocking chair. « How can you go on, Mom? »

Her blue eyes were filled with tears, the corner of her lips trembling dangerously but still Lily didn't let down a tear. « How? » By now her voice cracked and she grasped the arm rests of the chair. Queen Isabella had to take a deep sigh to steady her breath. She walked over to her youngest daughter who had been missing for almost an entire year, who had returned fatherless, who had never been the same joyful girl after she had come home.

« Little Lily, » the Queen commenced, being tortured by the memory of her husband using the same nickname for their youngest daughter. « Don't for a moment blame this on you. Your father died trying to find you. He did and he knows you're safe now. He wouldn't want anything else. You will find your strength in this chaos, I know you will. » By the end, Isabella had to bite her own cheek to avoid tears streaming down. « Mom... I don't know how? »

By now both women were clenching on each other, tears streaming down, sobs filling the room. « There's only one answer, darling,... Together. »
