4. Halloween..
The car came to a halt as Mahira pressed down the break. Turning the car off, she got out and closed the door behind her while Mayur did the same on his side. They were in the front of Zach's home where the party was supposed to be. She was wearing a blue t-shirt with trousers, the t-shirt modified by Mayur to look as if bullets had passed through them. It was obviously their well discussed plan to make her outfit look like the dead version instead of the alive one. Mayur, however, looked like a male version of Wanda Maximoff. He was wearing red pants, a maroon t-shirt, a red leather jacket and blue lenses which made his eyes look like a very particular and bad shade of dark blue.
Mayur walked inside, without waiting for her, while she was locked in the universe of her thoughts. Shrugging out of them, she locked the car and rushed in after him in hope that she won't lose him in the crowd anywhere. At least not untill she found a better company, or maybe some empty corner. As soon as she opened the door, she was greeted by the crowd of people, mostly kids their age, drinking and dancing.
Because of the recent events, she assumed, they were mostly dressed as either 'Iron Man' or 'Black Widow'. A few as Captain America and Thor. Some were witches, some as wizards with long pointy hats and some wore the red and black spider suit. The remaining population, however, had tried a little to be original and think out of the box. There was a group of teenage boys, seven of them may I add, who were wearing different coloured wigs and normal purple clothes. A boy wearing an orange T-shirt, CAMP HALF-BLOOD written over it and the logo inside a circle. Another girl wearing a school uniform, red and black robes with a red and gold tie, her hair bushier than a... bush. A girl in black combat suit with a bow in her hand. One as a Prince with a tail. Another boy with blond hair, green eyes, totally Mayur's type, dressed up as The Vision.
Tearing her attention away from everyone, Mahira looked around to find Mayur, chatting and laughing with Zack. Those arseholes! She walked towards the two of them, with a frown on her face and they looked up as soon as they realised her presence. "Hey Mahi," started Zach, with a wide grin on his face, "I was just telling Peacock how great he looks!" She crooked her eyebrows at him and felt Mayur shifting a bit at her side, he was too obvious and yet somehow Zach didn't notice! "But looks like you're the one with the best costume tonight," he continued, the grin turning into an evil smirk.
He himself was supposed to be Tony Stark and all he had done was wearing a coat over a T-shirt and black Jeans. There was a batch on his coat which said, 'you know who I am' and a fake goatee.
"Says the one who looks exactly like Tony Stark!" Mahira scoffed, turning before he could answer her back with a sarcastic remark, and walked towards the pool which was unsurprisingly almost empty.
She sat on a bench near the pool, where the Vision guy was already sitting as the other one was occupied by a group of people dressed up something which she would only take as a Shadowhunter gear. Though theirs looked much more comfortable and stretchier. She reached her pocket to get her phone out but before she could, the boy beside her spoke up, "hey, brother-in-law." His voice sounded almost robotic if it wasn't for the small shivering in it.
"What?"
He looked quite hesitant and taken back from her question, it was as if he hadn't expected that. Maybe he panicked due to something, "uhh you know because you're Pietro and I am Vision. I mean you're not a boy, but Pietro is, and he is-"
"I get it!" She smiled at him. He seemed still in shock, but his muscles relaxed a bit.
"Oh, thank God! I thought you were gonna get offended because I called you brother-in-law instead of sister-in-law," he explained as a smile formed on his face, "what a coincidence right? You should meet my boyfriend! He is dressed as Wanda Maximoff," he laughed. Wait what?
She nodded at him, with the smile never leaving her face. "He must really love you for dressing up as Wanda for you," she said. She had to be clear before she asked him about it. There could be another gay boy dressed as Wanda Maximoff in the party... even it had almost no chance.
"He does love me a lot," the boy grinned, "but this was his own idea actually! He wanted to go as Wanda because his twin was going as Pietro," he paused, looking at her up and down, "wait, are you Irah? Uhh no! Mahira?" he asked, and she nodded, "oh! Uhh sorry! I didn't even introduce myself! I am Aidan Richards!"
"Nice to meet to Aidan," she gave him a soft smile, "have you talked to Mayur yet?" she asked shoving her phone back into the pocket. The green-eyed boy nodded at her with a huge smile on his face. She could see this boy was already in love with her brother, she was going to have a long talk with Mayur as soon as they'd leave for home.
"He was looking amazing!" He looked down at the ground. And just now she noticed the boy was small, maybe even a year younger than herself. "I told him about the scholarship in MIT and he was so happy." Mahira almost fell down from the bench, not only the boy looked similar to Zach but also was going to the same college. What the fuck?
"Yeah?" She somehow managed to maintain the smile on her face, "you should go to him, he might be missing you." She knew it wasn't true, Mayur was probably blushing madly at something Zach had said and didn't even remember Aidan's existence.
Aidan, however, smiled brightly at the comment and stood up from his place. With his cheeks as red as tomatoes, he walked inside in search of Mayur.
Mahira watched as the boy got lost in the crowd and sighed. She hadn't expected Mayur, out of all the people she knew, to do something like this. Lost in her thoughts she hadn't realised what was happening in her surroundings untill she felt something sharp and cold touching the back of her neck. She turned around to see the one of the guys from the Shadowhunter group holding a knife in front of her. Her eyes widened as she noticed the curved arrow symbol on the handle of the knife and she backed away, "stay still," the man ordered her, and her feet stopped automatically.
She looked around, there were three other guys, one, who was probably just two inches taller than her, was at her left, guarding the door which connected the home with the pool, the other two, one looked in his early twenties while the other was much older, were on her right, standing almost a metre away from the pool. All four of them had same black hairs and dark eyes. She closed both her hands in fists as the tall man holding the knife came forward. He wasn't going to hurt her, not yet at least, she knew that much. This wasn't the first time something like this had happened, they would just knock her out and take her to one of their bases.
The tall man extended his hand in the front of two men on her right and the older man passed him a syringe, filled with some red coloured liquid. The man settled the knife on the bench carefully and that was the chance Mahira was waiting for. She opened both her fist, shooting ice on the ground with right and making an ice dagger in left. In a swift motion, she swung the dagger at the tall man, cutting across his throat while the other three froze on their places. Literally.
The tall man fell on the ground in no time, the wound was deep, and she believed the man was probably dead. She stood still, waiting for some more moments before closing her right fist and hence stopping the release of ice on the ground but kept the dagger in her left hand. She moved towards the knife placed on the bench and shoved it in her trousers' pocket. The ice melted in no time and the three men fell on the ground unconscious. Taking the dagger, she stabbed them through the heart, killing all of them. She dragged their bodies to the eastern corner, where no one would be able to spot them and then went back inside, feeling a bit dizzy.
For the rest of the party, her mind and gaze both drifted towards the pool. She hoped no one other than Zach or Mayur would see the dead bodies. Zach was a bit used to hiding bodies of Arrow agents by now, the first time it had happened, Zach had something along the lines of "it's nothing new," but when was question he'd refused to answer them. The twins had decided not to push him any further and slowly he had opened up a little about how he was abducted as a kid and experimented on.
When the party was over, and everyone except the twins had left, Mahira told the two of them about the incident near the pool. Zach had offered them to stay the night, but Mahira had told him she wasn't that bad this time. With one last look at the four men, Mahira and Mayur left for their home.
Once they were on the street, Mahira broke the silence, "so when were you going to tell me about Aidan?"
