Chapter 2: Do You Want A Happily Ever After?

        (Y/n) clung onto their captor for dear life. They weren't expecting to have been tossed into the air like that. They couldn't even register where they were going, they were so scared.

       Of course, they had nothing to worry about. He wasn't going to let them go. That was also the problem.

He wasn't going to let them go.

As they started to descend suddenly, (Y/n) started to think back on the situation they were in. Clearly, they were stuck in a fairytale or something.

Of all the things they expected could happen today, this wasn't one of them. Baseball came to a sudden stop, causing (Y/n) to yelp in surprise.

            He winced, wings folding slightly. "Sorry..." Gently setting them down, (Y/n) fell to their knees. "Thank goodness we are on the ground!"

            They sighed, falling on their back. "I never wanna go back up there again." Baseball stared at them in confusion. "...Aren't you gonna try to run away?"

              (Y/n) looked up at him. "And go where? I don't even know where you brought me!" He glanced to the side. "Huh...true...I guess?" He shook his head slightly, glancing back at them.

             "But what about screaming?" He asked, as they sat up. "At this point, why bother?" They asked, waving their arm towards a random direction.

               "I screamed more when I woke up in a (dress/tux) this morning!" Baseball choked back a laugh. "So that takes priority over being kidnapped?"

                (Y/n) stood up, stretching. "Yeah I guess." They shrugged. "To be fair, I didn't know I was being kidnapped til the last second."

               He walked towards them. "Obviously." He said. "It was like you didn't even realize I was a dragon!" Then, he sheepishly smiled. "Were you just messing with me?"

               (Y/n) nervously chuckled. "About that..." Baseball frowned slightly. "Wait...did you seriously think I was part of the staff?" They looked away.

"...maybe..."

              Baseball nervously laughed. "Oh my gosh. No way." They backed away slightly. "What, did you lose your memory or something?" He joked.

                They froze, trying not to look nervous. Baseball flinched at their silence. "You're kidding." Silence. "...You're serious?!" He quickly rushed over to them.

               "Did you hit your head?! A-Are you okay?!" He asked, as (Y/n) held up their hands. "I'M NOT WHO YOU THINK I AM!!" They rose their voice.

                  Sighing, they clenched their head. "I'm not the king or queen or prince...or whatever everyone thinks I am!" They tried to explain.

                 "I'm just (Y/n)! And I'm way late for school by now!" Baseball stared at them in concern. "I'm not royalty...and I don't want to be, either!"

                 Nervously glancing to the side, Baseball smiled, nodding. "Of course you're not!" He agreed, in a calm tone. "You are just a normal, everyday human!"

                 He nudged (Y/n) towards the large doors in front of him. "But, you do need to lie down for a bit..." They sighed.

"You think I've lost it, don't you?"

                Baseball nervously sputtered. "W-What? Pfft- Noooo!" He smiled, as the doors opened. "I'll just...call your school and tell them to...do whatever they do when you're late."

             (Y/n) rose an eyebrow. "You don't even know what a school is, do you?" Baseball looked away, pushing them inside. "Not a clue, but it sounds fake."

             Sighing, (Y/n) stepped into the dark room. "So, where am I gonna be locked up?" Baseball gave them a blank look. "Huh?" They looked around the pitch black space.

             "You know, the whole 'Princess locked in a tower' shtick?" They explained. "So, is there a tower or maybe a cage?" Baseball smiled slightly.

               "Ohhh, that." He mumbled, before staring up. Suddenly small flames circled something, causing (Y/n) to jump back slightly. The room became brighter, as thousands of candles were lit.

              He smiled at their astonished expression, stretching his wings out. "Welcome to my den!" He said, as (Y/n) looked around. It seemed oddly spacious.

               A staircase was in the front, leading up to a big throne. To the side, there were a stack of books and papers. On the other side, a large bookcase stood. A few books were missing.

                They quietly yelped again, as Baseball grabbed the back of their clothes. He carried them up the stairs. That was when they noticed something they failed to see.

                A secret room was hidden away behind the throne. He carried them into it, sliding something in front of the entrance. Sunlight shone through a opening on the ceiling.

              (Y/n) noticed a large pile of pillows and other soft objects in the center of the room. They were brought over to it, and gently dropped.

              Before they could get up, they were quickly wrapped with a blanket. It wasn't painful, but pretty tight. Baseball quickly flew up, and the lights cut out.

                However, it wasn't completely dark. The room was softly illuminated by a blue glow. Baseball came back down. "You do know you locked yourself in here with me..."

                (Y/n) mentioned. "Right?" He nodded. "Yeah." They were both silent for a moment. "Did you mean to do it?" They asked. He nodded again. "Yeah..."

                  Silence fell again. It took them a moment to process what was going on, before they flinched, blushing slightly.

"This is your bedroom, isn't it?"

"Well...I-I mean..."

                  Baseball chuckled, tucking his wings back. "It's our bedroom." (Y/n) blushed even brighter, stuttering. "What?!" He shook his head slightly.

             "Why did you think you were here?" He joked, wiggling into the mess of pillows and blankets. They became even more flustered. "Uh, I don't know...RANSOM?!"

              The fluffy fort sank slightly, as they gently bumped into him. Flinching, (Y/n) tensed, blush getting bigger. "Wow...you really did lose your memory."

               Wrapping his wings around them, Baseball snuggled closer. "Well, I guess you don't need your memory to have a happy ending."

Before (Y/n) could say anything in response, a gentle purring-like noise caught them off guard. They were unable to think as their body became heavy.

It seemed like the sound was lulling them to sleep. But they couldn't help it. After the day they had, they were exhausted. Quietly yawning, (Y/n) felt their body fall backwards.

               They fell beside Baseball, unintentionally snuggling against him. Slowly, their eyes closed, and they fell asleep.

                The next morning, (Y/n) woke up groggily. They didn't know what was going on, until they saw the odd dragon beside them. Then they remembered everything.

                 The fall, the party, the kidnapping... everything. Sighing in frustration quietly, they sat up, rubbing their eyes. Baseball was still beside them, protectively clinging to them.

                  It was almost sweet. That is, if the situation was different. (Y/n) had still been kidnapped by him. They didn't know if he had an ulterior motive.

                  However, given the world they were in, probably not. Fairytales weren't that deep. That's what they thought, at least. They were pulled out of their thoughts as Baseball shifted.

                  (Y/n) quietly held their breath, staring at him for a moment. Thankfully, he did not wake up. Looking around, they saw a bit of light coming from the door.

                   It must had been morning. Curiously, they wondered if Baseball would notice their disappearance. Maybe he had something that would explain their situation.

                   Wiggling out of the blanket pile,
(Y/n) fell onto the floor. They stayed there for a moment, before standing up. Quietly tip-toeing to the door, they slipped out the crack.

                     Light blinded them, and they winced. They covered their eyes a moment, letting them adjust, before peeking out, and gasping.

                   A gorgeous sunrise greeted them from the opening of the tower/den, shining over the land below. Walking down the stairs, they tried to get a better view.

                  "Woah..." They mumbled, feeling their clothes flutter in the wind. Leaning against the wall, they looked at the world down below. It was oddly enchanting.

                 Shaking their head, (Y/n) snapped out of their trance. They had to find answers. Walking over to the bookshelf, they started skimming through all the spines.

                 They blinked. They quickly skimmed again, wondering if they had read it right. They blinked again, backing away.

All the books were fairytales.

                   (Y/n) groaned, clenching their head. "You've got to be kidding me!" They quietly fumed. "None of these are gonna help me figure out what's going on in this insane world!"

                    Sighing, they let their arms fall to their sides. Great, this was just what they needed. Glancing back at the bookshelf, their eyes landed on (f/f/t).

                     It was one of their favorites, when they were little, that is. Scoffing, they rolled their eyes. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to read a couple pages..."

                     Pulling it out of the bookshelf, they flipped to the first page. Their eyes widened, as they nearly dropped the book. Did they just see that?

                      Flipping through the book, their face paled. Sliding it back in the bookshelf, they grabbed another, flipping through it. That couldn't be right.

                       They grabbed another, and another, flipping through both of them. "WHAT THE HELL?!" They put the books back, stumbling backwards away from the shelf.

                     (Y/n) nearly screamed when they bumped into Baseball. He stared down at them in concern. "(Y/n)? It's really early, did you have trouble sleeping?"

                       When he saw their scared face, he wrapped a wing around them. "(Y/n)?" He asked again. "W-What..." They managed to speak. Pointing to the bookshelf, they shivered.

"What am I doing in all of those books?!"

                    Baseball flinched in confusion, before a look of realization crossed his face. "Ohhh...right, you lost your memory." He nudged against them, trying to comfort them.

                     "I guess I have to explain." He said, hugging them with his wings. "So...long ago, these books started appearing in libraries across the world." Baseball started.

                     "They told tales of royalty and magic, but everyone noticed one thing. The main characters all looked alike." (Y/n)'s face paled.

                     "It wasn't long before people started to fall in love with them, as throughout different stories, more of their personality would show."

                  "Then one day, a letter appeared in every kingdom, asking one question." A serious look was on Baseball's face.

"..."Do you want a happily ever after?"..."

                  He was silent for a minute, then continued. "There was a map on the back. People started to follow it...and..." He looked away. "...They found you."

               (Y/n) stared up at him, slightly scared. "You were very aware of the books about you. Most of the events took place in a different reality, at least, that's what you told us."

              He placed a hand(?) on their shoulder. "You were all alone in your kingdom. But you didn't send the books, and no one knows who did." He told them.

               Glancing back down at them, he smiled sheepishly. "But does it really matter?" Baseball asked. "I mean..." He let go of them, walking over to the bookshelf.

               "It's done now, and literally everyone is looking for their happy ending..." (Y/n) stepped closer to him. "...Even you..." They said, watching him flinch.

                 "Y-Yeah..." Baseball stuttered. (Y/n) looked away from him. "...I'm the happy ending, aren't I?" Baseball quickly turned around, book in mouth.

                He dropped it on the ground. "(Y/n)!" He quickly said, wings stretching out. "You've got it wrong, I'm not saying you're a prize to be won." He told them.

                 "I-I..." Baseball took a deep breath, wings lowering to his sides. "I meant it back there, when I said I wasn't one of them." He told them.

He got closer, practically touching their forehead with his own. "I'm not fighting for you for the sake of my kingdom. I'm fighting for you...for my own sake." He admit.

                Baseball's face was red. "I love you."
(Y/n) was speechless. "W- WE JUST MET, BASEBALL—" He flinched, backing away again.

            "Y-Yeah...? But...that's how it normally goes..." He muttered quietly, lowering his wings. He wasn't expecting this response.
(Y/n)'s face was red, as they shook their head.

"Baseball, I know this is a fairytale world, but this IS COMPLETELY INSANE!" They shook their arms frantically. "Where I come from, love is a two way street."

He frowned. "And I just met you, therefore, I do not reciprocate your feelings!" (Y/n) continued. Baseball looked away slightly. "...oh..."

He mumbled, just below a whisper. "...I'm sorry for...wasting your time then." Those words punched (Y/n) in the gut. Now they felt utter guilt!

As Baseball started to walk away, they gently tapped his side. "W-Wait..." They sighed. "I-I'm sorry. I'm just...confused." They half-lied.

"Since I lost my memory...I guess it just doesn't...seem right to me." They said. Baseball turned around, a small smile on his face as he gently nudged (Y/n), purring.

"I-It's okay. I mean, it does seem weird when you put it like that, but I promise it will make sense soon enough." He said. (Y/n) nodded, just going with it.

They knew they needed to play along for now if they ever wanted to get out of this world. "Okay." They finally said, smiling up at Baseball. He purred again.

"Alright, so how should I explain this to Nickel and the others?" (Y/n) gave him a confused look. "I'm sorry, did you say others-" Baseball nodded.

                "Yeah. Suitcase, Nickel, and Prince Balloon. Suitcase and Nickel are dating Balloon, and I'm dating Nickel! And...well, I'm hoping you at least become platonic partners with those guys-" He explained.

             A light blush was on his face as his wings flapped slightly. "They're really great!" He gushed, chuckling a bit. "And I know they'll like you too!"

               It was oddly sweet to see him fawn over his partners like that. Just further solidified that he had no ulterior motives. He was just a lovesick dragon.

                Not some villain after the kingdom or whatever. (Y/n) nodded, smiling.

"Well then, I'm excited to meet them!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/n: sorry it took longer then expected. It's over 2300+ words so yeah. Plus my ideas for the original story line have been getting redone since I'm including the season 3 characters.
A bit of a spoiler, but for this little mermaid arc, originally Paintbrush was going to take the role that the prince had, but now I'm trying to decide if Silver Spoon would be a better fit.
And without spoiling future arcs of the story, he was either going to replace Paintbrush, or Cabby's role in her arc. But given what Cabby's role is, I'm thinking that either Mephone or Knife would actually be a better fit. That, or Taco.
So yeah, there's lots of ideas floating around. And things might change, it just depends.
Thanks for reading
