Confused?
Patton was still explaining his predicament when the three of them reached the apartment.
"And the witch told me to make a wish so I must've looked too far because I didn't stop falling until I did and I climbed out of this hole in the ground, and then I saw the castle but they wouldn't let me in and then I fell and landed on top of you and now here we are!" His voice was so chirpy it made Logan wince.
"Here we are..." He looked down at his son and stopped himself groaning. The ten year old was so entranced by Patton's story. "Emile, it's definitely time you were in bed, you've got school tomorrow" He watched him groan and begged internally that Emile wouldn't do the pout. No one stood a chance against the pout. Even their dogs couldn't match the pout in its destruction of your will. Oh no... Logan caved "One. Episode. Or maybe half one. No, actually one comic chapter and it's time for bed.
"What is that?" Patton frowned when Janus came toddling/plodding in with Emile's Stephen Universe comic book between his teeth but somehow without having destroyed it. It was rolled up like a newspaper and Janus dropped it at Emile's feet. Patton was looking worriedly at the side of Janus's face where his previous owners had held his head against the stove after he tried to get food from beside it before they were done cooking.
"That's... hard to explain when someone's distressed, Emile, go get Remus and let them sleep with you tonight." Even if Remus made a point of sleeping with his nose in Emile's armpit for reasons that neither father nor son, nor Janus, could fathom. Emile frowned but nodded.
"Remus! Come here Goblin!" The dog had a penchant for digging around in their bin like a trash goblin. Logan watched Patton sit down on the sofa and followed his son while dialling a number. Emile looked at him "Why do you want Janus and Remus with me?" He watched Logan look back towards their sitting room and breathe.
"Because that man is incredibly confused, and I don't want him hurting you. Even though I doubt he'd know how to even try to" Logan kissed his forehead and watched his son curl up with the two dogs and his comic book. "I'll be checking to make sure you've stopped at one chapter"
"Night daddy" Logan smiled
"Night, bud" Terms of endearment sounded strange coming from him but flowed off of his tongue easily when he was talking to his little guy. "Oh no, no no you've got to be joking with me"
Patton had fallen asleep on the sofa and Logan hated to wake him.
That man had to have been through a lot to invent/believe the story he had told them.
