Song: Don't Let Me Go x G-Eazy ft. Grace
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I stood there in the empty hallway of my school silent. Did he really just say what he just said? As my mind processed on what Daemon just said, his words rang true. He wanted to be human so badly.
And it was because he loved me.
I had a hard time believing it. No one in this world would love someone so much that they were willing to change their entire being for the person that they love.
But there was.
Daemon.
He loved me and I don't know how to react to his words.
After a long pause, I began to speak.
"What happened?" If today marked the day Daemon was supposed to be human, why isn't he human now?
"Let me show you." he said extending his arm to me.
And with a blink of an eye, I was at a different place outside of the school. I stood before multiple headstones. The wind blew its cold somber breath towards me.
Daemon stood to my right, staring at one certain headstone stonily. As I looked closely, this wasn't just a regular headstone. It was a large one and it stood tall above others. I squinted closely at the words written on the headstone. To my dismay, I couldn't read the letters elegantly etched into the dark gray stone.
Δαίμον
After awhile, I didn't know what these letters meant until I remembered that I took a Word Roots class that involved learning about Greek letters. As I attempted to find what each letter meant, I realized it was Daemon's name etched into the stone.
"I was going to denounce my title as King of the Nether Realm and the powers as well as the immortality that comes with it to become human." Daemon began.
I had a million questions to ask him but I remained silent. My heart was pounding. I was nervous on the next words on what he's about to say.
"I was tired of taking care of the dead or anything that belongs down below. The elders of the Nether Realm agreed that my brother, Ayperos could replace me as the next King and I would be able to shed all power that comes along with being a demon to be a mortal."
He turned away from me as he faced the dark stone that had his name etched into its sleek surface.
"Ayperos abandoned me with this burden by becoming an angel himself. Today was the day I was supposed to transition into a human." Daemon's fingers grazed the surface of the dark stone above his name.
"He removed his name from this stone that day and had the chance to be a part of Heaven's angels while I remained in the darkness only observing the world above me but not close enough to to be a part of it." he murmured.
Hesitantly, I wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head against his hard back. He stiffened when I did this before he relaxed once again.
"I"m sorry." I told him.
And I was. I could only imagine how he felt when his own brother betrayed him. I wasn't sure on how I felt about Daemon when he told me that he wanted to love me wholly, the way I deserved to be loved.
I didn't believe him the first time he told me he loved me when we were in the forest playing his dangerous game.
I had this desire to comfort him for his loss and disappointment and I don't know why when he has caused me so much pain.
When I began to pull my arms away, Daemon turned and pulled me close to him. His lips were dangerously close to mine and I gulped fearfully worried on what he might do next.
For a second, I've forgotten that he was...
My thoughts about him were halted when he pressed his soft lips against mine. This time, his kisses weren't demanding nor rough. It felt as if he wasn't staking his claim on me like the last time he kissed me.
Instead, he kissed me as if I was the air that he needed to survive. One arm was around my waist while the other was on the back of my neck. It was as if he was afraid that he would lose me.
It took me awhile before I reciprocated his kiss. My hands made their way through his silky dark locks and pulled him closer to me.
In the back of my mind, I wanted to say that what I'm doing was wrong and Angelo and I only broke up a month ago.
But it felt so right.
He was the first to pull away from our kiss. His eyes remained set on my lips before he grazed his thumb softly over my bottom lip.
I looked away unsure of what to do next. My hands rested on his strong chest as the cold bite of the wind made me shiver.
Daemon used his thumb and forefinger to lift my chin before kissing my forehead as he pulled me closer to share the warmth of his body. No words were exchanged between us because I wasn't sure how I should feel about this warm feeling inside my stomach every time I'm around Daemon. I still have feelings for Angelo, and I couldn't ignore the history we had together as friends.
"You don't have to say anything." he told me.
"I don't want to pressure you anymore to be with me." Daemon said as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "I'd rather have you choose me on your own terms."
"Why?" I dared ask him.
"Why the change of heart?"
Daemon looked away before letting out a small playful laugh. "I ask myself the same thing."
I pulled away from him.
"We should get back. My friends will be looking for me." I mumbled disappointed and embarrassed. Of course Daemon would be playing. He was a demon, and demons don't love. I knew this fact, so why was I feeling so hurt?
Before I could walk away, he gripped my wrist tightly. I winced in pain before he loosened his grip.
"I'm not finished yet." he said.
I yanked my wrist from his grip.
"Well I am." I said turning around.
His arms were around my waist in an instant while his breath fanned across my ear.
"I...don't know what it is yet but it was all because of you." he growled towards the end of his words his arms tightening around my waist. I froze staying still.
Daemon's attitude has switched again from playful to demonic.
"Let me go." I demanded.
He slowly complied with my wishes.
"You changed me." he admitted. "I didn't want to but I did for you." Daemon continued stroking my cheek.
"Because I was hoping that you would love me more than you loved Angelo."
I looked away from him when he mentioned Angelo's name.
I heard Daemon sigh sadly.
"And I can see that you still love him."
