Song: Love Won't Sleep x Lostboycrow
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I scrubbed the tenacious stain on the gleaming polished wooden table at Bel Cibo. Although my father was hospitalized, I gathered enough strength and courage to show up to work after visiting him because the upcoming medical bills that would be thrown our way weren't going to pay themselves.
My shoulder ached from scrubbing hard while pins and needles were jabbing themselves into my high heeled feet. I wiped the sweat that brimmed on my forehead before throwing the greasy towel down in desperation. Walking towards the kitchen of the restaurant, a wave of dizziness came over me that I fell back before someone grabbed hold of my waist and shoulder to prevent me from falling.
I turned my head and saw Angelo's smiling face. He looked captivating as always with only a simple gray sweater and dark jeans. His wild curly hair was gone and was replaced with a gelled hairstyle that pushes his hair back to reveal his high cheekbones and sharp jaw. He was gorgeous and I was reeking of food leftovers.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him as I wiped my hands on my apron.
"I'm picking you up after work. Your shift is almost done right?" he said, giving me a small smile.
I nodded. "In half an hour, if you're okay with waiting?"
"I'll wait for you for the rest of my life." he joked.
Before I opened my mouth, my manager's annoying screech interrupted our conversation. "Stop flirting with customers and —" she paused when she saw Angelo.
"Mr. De Rege, I-I didn't know you came tonight. I hope this worker isn't bothering you." she murmured nervously as she tucked a stray hair behind her ear while batting her eyelashes towards Angelo.
I rolled my eyes when Angelo spoke, "On the contrary, Celeste is doing a great job with customer service." he ended with a grin.
Following my manager towards the bar I mouthed a "I'll be back," to him.
The last thirty minutes of my shift couldn't have gone by faster since my manager began to lecture me about being lazy on the job. After her rant, I dashed to the employee's break room, grabbed my stuff, and limped my way towards Angelo.
"What happened to you?" he asked, his voice dripping with worry. We left the restaurant and I was still limping in my six inch heels. I would take them off but the broken bottles that littered the streets of LA made it impossible to walk barefoot without stepping on one. The night air was cool and the familiar sounds and bright lights of the busy city life told me that life moves on regardless of the horrible things that recently occurred in my life.
"These heels have been killing me." I complained while adjusting the straps.
"Here, let me help you with that." I heard Angelo say behind me.
His arms snaked around my waist and legs causing me to wrap an arm around his neck to prevent me from falling from his hold. I let out a shriek in surprise before he twirled me over and over. Carrying me bridal style, he continued walking without losing a breath.
"You don't have to carry me to your car, Angelo." I blushed when I saw the weird looks strangers gave us as we passed by.
"It's no problem, I'm happy to ease any type of pain you experience." he answered, his voice soft.
"And besides, parking was hard to find so I parked really far." he added.
"Well, thank you." I yawned.
My eyes wandered across the street when I saw them. These six men still wore a long trench coat with a hood that covered their faces. However, the tattoo on their forearm and the scythe that gleamed against the headlights of the cars that passed by.
We finally made it to Angelo's red Ferrari and I hopped in quickly, urging him to start the car because of the hooded men. The whole car ride with Angelo was silent which never happened until now. Perhaps it was the events that recently occurred that gave us this awkward silence and the exhaustion that weighed itself on me the past few days and nights.
The car halted to a stop and I realized that we already arrived at the apartment I lived in. Angelo opened the car door for me in silence and walked me to the front door.
"Thanks for the ride Angelo," I smiled.
"You're welcome," he muttered before looking deeply into my eyes. "I'm sorry I haven't been honest with you lately."
Thinking he was talking about his identity, I said "It's okay, I understand." I touched Angelo's smooth cheek before putting my hand on his hard shoulder.
Angelo closed his eyes before taking a deep breath. "Since I haven't been honest with my identity..." he began. "I also haven't been honest with my feelings lately."
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"I wanted to say this earlier but the recent events prevented me from doing so."
"What did you want to say?"
Angelo hesitated before answering. "I wanted to say that I care about you."
"Angelo, I already know that," I said as I touched the crinkle that always formed between his brows when he's nervous.
Taking hold of my hands, his warm hazel eyes gleamed with sincerity. "No," he paused. "What I feel for you is deeper than just friendship."
To prove his point, he leaned his face close to mine that I could see his thick dark lashes before his lips crashed into mine with passion. I reciprocated his passionate kiss by pulling him closer towards me. His kiss was far different from Daemon's. Angelo's kisses were gentle and sweet while Daemon's kisses were rough and bold.
We stopped kissing when I came up for air to breathe. He leaned his forehead against mine before he spoke. "I'd love to stay like this forever, but I have to go."
I nodded in agreement before giving him a small quick kiss on his lips. "I've always felt the same way too." I smiled before I opened the door to my apartment and went inside, leaving Angelo blushing and grinning happily as if he just won the lottery.
I yawned once I reached my room and ignored the empty feeling the house gave when my father was hospitalized. I decided to visit my parents' room and I saw my mother deep in slumber. Before I left, I pulled the blanket over her shoulder.
Walking back to my room to change into my PJ's, was a bouquet of blue roses on my bed. Picking up the enchanting flowers, a small creamy white note fell from the roses. Opening the note, in neat cursive handwriting it said,
"For my unattainable love, I hope to soon conquer your heart. My offer still stands. ~Daemon A
Another note was attached behind the original paper and it read the same riddle I couldn't solve.
"I am an involuntary force of nature;
I am the alpha and the omega of allure.
I am the mother of millions
and when taken by force, I can last for eons.
What am I?"
Sitting on the foot of my bed, I cradled the gorgeous roses on my arm and took a whiff of the aroma they emitted; a strong addicting scent.
I pondered over the possible answers that the riddle may give me. I thought of hate as an example of an involuntary force of nature but scratched it out because it isn't the beginning or the end of allure and can't be the mother of millions.
Perhaps fear? No, fear isn't involuntary. Humans have a reason to fear something. I began thought of multiple answers to the riddle but none can fit with the riddle's requirements.
Until suddenly, like a soft caress on my cheek, the answer crept its way from my spine to my chest.
Love.
Love is an involuntary force of nature. No one forces you to love someone.
Love begins with allure or lust and once this lust ends, it turns into love.
The mother of millions. Millions of people are born out of love between two people and love lasts for eons.
I jumped from my bed causing the roses to fall from my arms. I finally found the answer! I can save one of my friends' souls and quickly finish Daemon's game!
Excitement and hope coursed through my body that I knew it would be hard for me to fall asleep although I must.
As the clock struck 12, I laid on my bed with my eyes closed, waiting for Daemon's game to take me to the Nether Realm.
Once I opened my eyes after a while, the sky above me rained with scorching fire burning me with its stinging drops.
What do you guys think of Celeste kissing both brothers? Do you think she'll end up with Angelo her childhood best friend, or Daemon, the notorious villain in her life? Please don't forget to comment and vote!
xoxo,
Angelique
