Another Clichéd Start
Past : The first week of April, One year before, break of dawn
"Crap, I'm late!" Chris was running at full speed to his new school. It was the first day in a new school in Japan.
Funokawa High.
He was lucky enough to not be the typical transfer student who came in halfway across the year, and someone who's not on his quota. But he was damn glad he was an athlete. Or the deadline would seem further away.
But. He's SUPPOSED to be responsible.
And he was gonna be late, by a lot of time. And apparently life didn't want him to reach school just before the bell rang. This cliché was something he didn't expect to happen.
He slammed straight into a vague silhouette at top speed.
"Damn it! Who's this?!" He asked the person who, in his view; stood in his way. He was arrogant that way. A total airhead of an arrogant idiot.
"Sorry!!" A girl's voice apologised by the sounds of it. He knew some phrases from the few Anime he watched.
Enough to understand.
"eh-uh- WHAT!?" He replied the only words he knew clearly and as soon as possible, arranged the papers the girl was carrying and shoved it on her and ran to the entrance as soon as he could.
He didn't know what he started.
"T-Thank you very much!" He heard a faint voice in his ears.

And by the looks of it, kindness and rudeness comes back like a boomerang.
"This is our new transfer student, Chris Canner" The home room teacher announced something in a funny accent, trying to stand out to the indifference of the audience.
"Please say a few words, Canner - kun" He looked at him with a look of sympathy as if the students were gonna gobble him like....prey....
Would they?
"Ah...... Good mornin'. As the kind teacher mumbled something, I don't know what. Here's what you need to be told, I'm Chris. Canner. No need for any formalities. Just Chris, plain old Chris." He gave his opening quote on the opening of the new days on his high school.
Unsure of whether they understood or not.
But he decided to improvise.
"I-uh...am..Chris Canner, everyone" He managed to make out some sense.
"A pleasure to make your acquai-" And was interrupted.
"Sorry, I'm late! I kinda bumped into a blind person on the way!" To his shock, the very same girl who he bumped into earlier was coming through the door. "Oh gods, this is gonna go well..." Chris chided himself as he set out for the day very confident she just sold him out for some sort of Eve teasing.
Sarcastically of course.....
She clasped her mouth as she proceeded the words she blurted out.
To the mysteries of the universe, or out of pure luck, his prediction became a reality when the news that he bumped into the girl, sending her papers sprawling spread around class before the 3rd period. Also it turned out that the girl was the supposedly chosen the class rep.
*****
After dispersal, the girl walked up to him, smiled a friendly expression and extended a hand to bring him to a handshake. "Possibly because she's the rep?" He thought; and gave his hand out anyway.
"Chris here. Chris Canner." He gave a huge grin.
"Uh- hi there! I'm Haruka. Matoka." The class rep smiled. The only vivid word he heard was Haruka. She then realised he probably didn't understand their language, implied by his confused expression; and under her assumption she spoke in her quote on quote 'Not so good English'
"I'm not good at English. Just bear with me, ok?" Haruka said, which confused him as Chris didn't hear any stammers like the other students.
"Same here!" Chris laughed, which confused the girl how a foreigner didn't know English that well.
But she smiled again as they set off their own paths.
*****
The first day of school for Chris Canner had ended rather good. He was happy with life. at least she didn't ram a car over him at the first day or throw him off a building.
Those were scenarios he never wanted to be in.
Hey, everyone has their expectations, right?
